In iTunes 11.0.2.26, an Albums search by track names returns albums as if they only have one track on them, but I still want to access the entire album. How can I have the search results show the entire album (with just the searched for name highlighted)? For instance, I'm wanting to play an album with a particular track on it or I'm searching for albums that include that track. iTunes incorrectly assumes that all I'm after is that one track and then incorrectly displays the album as if there is only one ttrack on it. This is a bonkers default setting. Can I change this?

Click the search magnifying glass and uncheck "Search entire library".
Type in the name of the track.
Click the album of interest to show tracks.
Select the track.
Press the X in the search box to clear the search.
Double click the track you want to start playing first.

I'm trying to use Time Machine on my Macbook (which is a year old) to back up onto a 1Tb external hard drive. I have 860 Gb free on the hard drive. But for some reason Time machine presents me with the statement above. How can I back-up my laptop without clearing out the data I already have on the hard drive?

Time Machine must back up to a hard drive that has been formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Your drive is likely formatted in FAT 32.
If you want to use the drive for Time Machine backups, you will have to erase it and reformat using Disk Utility on your Mac.
First, move the files that you do not want to lose to another temporary location and test to make sure they are OK.
Second, erase the drive that you want to use for Time Machine backups and format it for Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
Third, move the files back to the hard drive. Test to make sure they are OK. When you are sure that the files are safe, you can erase them from their former "temporary" location. (Although I do wonder how you are backing up these files).
Time Machine will not touch the other files that you have on the hard drive.

Buyer got the money back from Paypal and buyer don't want to send the item back

Hi everybody, I sold a laptop on Dec 2014 via eBay. After three months, there are some issues with the laptop so buyer had to send it to the manufacture for repair (Still under Lenovo warranty). After that, buyer had to send the laptop to manufacture again due to motherboard problem (Lenovo agree to fix it for free because it's still under warranty). Buyer complained that the computer is not as described. (I listed the item as like new because it's open box item, I also mentioned open box in the eBay description, I also refunded $100 when the buyer received the laptop, he said there are some scratches on the case, and he accepted the offer, I still have our conversation via eBay message) By the time I sold it, the laptop still under warranty for approximate 2 and a half year. Regarding to eBay policy, buyer cannot file a claim after 30 days, so he decided to file a complain via PayPal. I don't sell much on eBay so after I sold the laptop, I don't check my PayPal email anymore, once day when I check my email, I realized the case has been opened for approximate 19 days, which mean I was late to respond to the case 4 days. PayPal decided to refund to the buyer. I contacted PayPal several time, they said they couldn't do anything because I didn't respond to their email. I contacted Buyer and he told me that he will consider my email as harassment. I sent him another email a couple weeks ago and he didn't respond to my email. As a result, I still have to pay for eBay fee (approximate $50), and I lost the laptop $1300 value. Even he send the laptop back to me at this time, the laptop will not have the same value as before, but I still not receive the laptop anyway. It like 8 months from now. I filed a complain to ic3.gov but I still not hear anything from them. Does anyone have the same experience with me? Do you have any suggest? I have moved from WA to Texas, I don't know if I can file a case in Texas since the original issue happened when I was in WA. Any response is appreciated, Thank you very much.

What if I don't want to use the cloud to sync?

I don't need the cloud nor do I want to use it. I was perfectly fine with syncing contacts and notes from my Mac to my iPhone using iTunes. Apparently that feature is gone now with the release of Mountain Lion? Is there any way around this?

No, I don't sync via iTunes any more, but the option is clearly still there, with a warning about what might happen if I turn it on.

How do I change the name that shows up for my email account . I don't want to change the email address, just my personal name that shows who the email is from.

My apple account was in my partners name , I have now changed it to my name .
The problem is my icloud email still shows up his name at the beginning of my email address. eg Jo Blogg ( [email protected] ) .
When I open up Icloud in browser it shows in the top right my correct name , but when I go into Account settings on Mac in the Mail it shows up my
partners name as the Full Name associated with the account . It doesn't give you the option of changing that name though.
I hope I have explained this properly and someone can help ?

Hey There I didn't need to change it as it shows my correct name in my icloud account. The problem is on my Mac where it still shows my Full name as my partners name.
For eg. if I send an email from "Mail" on mac and I use my icloud account then the name that shows up is my partners name when the email is received. If I send an email from the Icloud Mail box that I log into on my browser then the name that shows up when the email is received is my name which is correct.
When I go into preferences in "Mail" on my Mac to change my name, the name is ghosted out and doesn't allow me to change it ! ? It is here that it still show my partners name ?

If this program will not get the iPod out of recovery mode then you will have to restore and thus erase the iPod.

Go into iPhoto's Accounts preference pane and delete the MobileMe account. That should stop those messages. If they come up just click on the More Information buttion. That will circumvent the download and take you to an Apple website that you an close and ignore.
Also log out of MoblleMe in the System/MobileMe preference pane.

No, sorry... did not happen becasue no such model exists.
If the device is in recovery mode, any data on it is already lost.
The only options are:
Restore the device to get it functional.
Enjoy the paper weight.
For what reason did you attempt to update the device without first ensuring that your data was safe, meaning backing up the device and copying important pictures/videos taken with the device to a computer?

What if I don't want to sync ALL of my Library to my IPod?

New to Macs and iTunes, so be gentle...
Just bought a iMac Core Duo, and my wife's Nano is synched up with it, no problem.
Here's what I want to do though: I want to put all my CD library on iTunes, but I don't want ALL of the songs to sync over - just the ones she wants (she just has upbeat music to work out to).
Is this possible? If it is, how do I tell iTunes which ones to sync and which ones NOT to sync?

You can choose to "automatically update selected playlists only" in which case you can create a playlist specifically for the Nano and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used by the other iPod. Or you can choose to "manually manage songs and playlists"

The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.
