I have a 2009 MacBook with an optical drive. It is becoming unreliable, and as a result, I got a USB SuperDrive for Christmas. Problem, neither my MacBook, nor my iMac (2008) recognize the drive. What's the issue? I thought I could get a few more years out of my MacBook by using an external USB optical drive.
The USB SuperDrive is only designed to work with a few Mac computers.....specificaly the ones that do not have an internal Optical Drive...

I too had a same problem, when I attached AUX IN pin of my car to my ipad it got stucked in it.I went to Apple Store, they were helpless and asked me to replace it with new one for 16000 INR.
What I did is, I took a refill of a pen and sharped its back so that it exactly sits into the gap. After thar I applied some pressure and pulled it out...I got the remaining part wich was stucked.

I have a 2009 A6 with a 5th Gen. iPod pluggedinto the MMI. I mostly listen to audio books, not a lot ofmusic. The books are 4-6 hours long, vs 4-6minutes with a song. Often, but not always, when I start my A6, the MMI starts on the first song on my iPod, thereforeI don't know where I stopped in my 4-6 hour book. How can I get the interface to stay stopped where I left off? I have gone into iTunes and placed my current book as the first "song" on my iPod for ease of finding it, but often the MMI starts it over at the beginning. Thank you if anyone has any experience with this. My dealer in San Rafael, CA says they've never heard of this issue.
I think my iPod, which is an iPod touch 3rd generation , which is a lot different from a nano, which really makes it almost impossible for me to help you, which is why I suggested that you post your question in the iPod nano community. Your first post says that your product is an iPod nano. I think the people who answer those questions would be most likely to help you. If yours isn't a nano then you can pick the right community from here. This community is really to answer questions about this forum, or issues that don't fit anywhere else.

There's a defect. The computer is in warranty so take it in for repair.

How are you connected to the internet? Are you behind a particularly secure corporate firewall? Are you on Mac or Windows? Do you have any anti-malware software running on your machine that may be preventing applications other than your browser from connecting to the internet?
You may try to follow the steps below:
1.Close the Creative Cloud application.
2.Navigate to the OOBE folder.
Windows: [System drive]:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE
Mac OS: /Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE folder
3.Delete the opm.db file.
4.Launch Creative Cloud.

G5, 10.6.8, trying to print biz cards, instead of clear print with sharp edges I get fuzzy print with pixels showing. Saving as PDF doesn't help. Any solution?

If I paste the jpeg on a draw page and shrink it to fit, fuzzy print. If I create the text directly on a draw page, it's fine. (That suggests to me the problem isn't in the printer.) But I want to include a small drawing on the card, and the pasted jpeg of that small drawing is very poor quality. -

Problem with external USB keyboard layout that differes to the macbook one
I have a MacBook with a US keyboard layout and attached to an older (pre aluminium) japanese keyboard. As long as I stick in the normal mode (eg not japanese input) all keys work as they should. But if I switch to japanese input, the keyboard also switches to japanese input.
I suspect it is because in the Kotoeri Preferences under "Keyboard layout for Romaji" is US selected. But from this dropdown I cannot choose any japanese layout.
How can I fix this? This is really annoying, all the time when I input some japanese text and want to use any of the other characters (eg & or %, etc) I need to use the keyboard on the Laptop because else I do not get the correct characters.Tom Gewecke wrote:

I don't think that matters -- the point of this preference is to allow correct Hiragana input by people using non-US latin keyboards.

Is it not possible using the JIS Japanese keyboard to make & and %? I see them for example on this picture of one.
If I view the keyboard viewer I see the correct japanese layout, but if I want to type the keys as shown there I get the input like on the US layout on the keyboard in the laptop.
eg shift+6 = &, but on us you get ^. so when I am in normal input I get the &, but if I switch to japanese input I get the ^. And this is really annoying, especially some keys "disappear". the ¥ (yen/backslash key) just doesn't work at all in japanese input. -
I have an older iMac 5,1 and the disc drive no longer works. I was hoping that I could the Apple USB super drive as a replacement, but the info on the super drive page says compatible with iMac 2012 or later. Does anyone know why it would not work for me?
A reply to similar question (Q & As , in product page Apple Store) says:
"...dissable the internal reader hardware from devices setup. Then plug the external usb superdrive and that's it." Answered by Enrique T from Lima Oct 25 2013.
If you can locate an external Apple USB 'Air" superdrive for earlier model MacBook Air, that should work. The newer one for the Air is the same as for iMac, now.
You may be able to use other brands of external USB optical drive with your older intel-based iMac, as some of them function capably. A few should also be able to see system discs or other bootable utilities on DVD.

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Also, if this only happens with one Wi-Fi network, power cycle that Wi-Fi router.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order. -

I was researching ways you might be able to save that email to a picture or export it and found this little gem in the iPhone Users Guide, found here: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf about how to take a screenshot.
Its on page 12 toward the middle:
Take a screenshot: Press and release the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button  at the same time. The screenshot is added to your Camera Roll album.

According to the link you came from the only MacBooks this works with are MacBook Air and MacBook Pro with Retina display. If yours is not one of these I can see no harm in trying it.
You could consider getting an external optical drive. -

Click the green button in the top left corner of the window to resize it. If you can't reach the button, drag the window to the right by its title bar. You can further resize by dragging any of the edges or corners. Once you've resized the window, Safari should remember the size.
