is there a way to connect my ATV to the xfinity hot spot? It says connected but it doesn't redirect me to log on to xfinity. So my screen only shows settings box and computers box

a computer could connect to the hot spot and if the computer was set to share it's internet then maybe the Apple TV could connect to the computer

Airport Extreme Card- Connecting to "Hot Spots"

I have a G4 iBook that came with an Airport Extreme Card. Is it possible to connect to "hot spots" at cafes, libraries, etc... with out having an internet connection of my own at home and without having an Airport Base Station? The computer recognizes the airport extreme card and my friend was able to connect with me computer to computer, but when I try to connect to the internet at a "hot spot" Airport does not show any networks. Is there any other hardware I need, or is it my settings on the computer?

Your G4 iBook should be able to join any 802.11b/g compliant wireless networks. You will not be able to see or join any 802.11a wireless networks.
If the wireless networks are broadcasting their SSID (network name) the network name will appear in the AirPort menu. If they are not broadcasting their SSID, you will need to select "Other..." from the AirPort menu and enter the network name.

No longer able to connect to hot spot feature

We have an employee here that has a Xoom. He connects his laptop to the Xoom's Hot Spot so he can send email and such while he's traveling. It's been working just fine, nothing seems to have changed, and, as of yesterday, he can no longer connect. There's a message saying his settings no longer match. However, the settings appear to be correct and haven't been changed. Passwords match, etc. Any ideas??

i have an htc one v smart phone working in android os with a wifi hot spot. my question her is can i connect the new ipad to internet via htc one v hot spot?

If your htc becomes a WiFi hotspot your iPad should be able to log onto the WiFi like any otther device.

Connecting to Hot Spots

Sometimes when I connect to a hot spot in a cafe or airport I can join the network, but not get to the internet, email, etc. (On some networks it works fine.)
I have tried disabling the ethernet (someone said that may help), but it made no difference.

And this occurs after submitting your payment if the internet access at the connected hotspot isn't free?

Hi,
Im having throuble on connecting my Apple TV to my network.
On settings it only shows Ethernet but I only have wifi. To the device there are only the power and the HDMI cables connected.
Wifi is available in the room - Im using on my Iphone to send this message - And I have already reset it and restart it but Ethernet is the only option.
Any suggestion?

If not, it may be a push to connect, or hidden network. How do you usually connect wireless devices?

In that case, it should be possible. I haven't tried this directly, but I believe it should work.
You'll need to get an actual AirPrint compatible Printer.

Once you have the compatible printer, using the Hotspot feature from the iPhone he'll have to create the Wifi bubble form the iPhone, and connect the Printer to that Wifi network.
Then connect the iPad to that same Wifi network provided by the iPhone. When all that is done, the printer should appear in any of the Apps that can Print under the Action Arrow button.
For instance in email, pressing the action arrow should show a Print option. In there the printer should appear.
Alternatively you can simply buy a wireless router and setup the network through there even if there is no internet attached. Connect the wireless printer to the router network, and connect the iPad or iPhone to that same wifi network to print.

So when I connect my ATV to my TV, I turn on my hot spot and go to Netflix. I can get Netflix on my iPad for streaming movies, but it won't share with my TV. The TV is telling me it doesn't recognize my network. When I go to settings, general and network on the TV screen, I'm asked to select a network. If I select other, I don't know what network to use? Since downloading IOS 7.0 on my iPhone 4, I cannot connect to wifi. The button is greyed out, so I can't even turn it on. I can't download the upgraded version that fixes some of the bugs because you have to be able to connect to the internet to download it. I also noticed that under "Settings", my Bluetooth and Personal Hot Spot settings are constantly roaming with the circle that just keeps going around and around. I've tried everthing (I think). It was directly related to the 7.0 download because it happened right away. Any ideas? I listen to a lot of eBooks when I commute each day and I need to connect to the internet to download the full versions. I miss my books!!

No internet connectivity from certain WiFi Hot Spots

I've been unable to get internet connectivity using Tim Horton's WiFi on my MacBook Pro.
I can select the Tim Horton network but when I launch my browser nothing happens.
I've cleared cache and cookies, restarted laptop and a few other things, Not able to get on the Internet no matter what I do., My iPhone -was- able to connect without issue. This is odd isn't it?
I've tried Safari and Chrome to no avail, I am being given an IP address but get no further than that, The Tim Horton's join network page never shows up. Nothing.
This has happened to me at 3 different Tim Horton's.
I use my laptop at -countless- hot spots and have -never- had a connection issue... only at Tim Hortons.
I don't know what's going on but something is not right. It just happened to me this morning. I left Tim Hortons and went to Panera. BOOM. Instantly online.. Same with McDonalds which is right across the street from Panera. I can get on both places. But not Tim Horton's. Any ideas why?
I don't know if this helps, but I did capture a log of the attempt to get online...

Clinton, thanks for the suggestion of trying NetSpot. The application sounds like it might be helpful for general network assessment although I'm not sure if it can provide much assistance in this situation.
I believe the internet connectivity issues I'm experiencing have more to do with whatever kind of "sensing" that the router/hotspot uses. Generally when I go to a new hotspot, after choosing it in my list of avalable networks, a hotspot window will automatically open asking for my agreement to the terms of useage. That never happened at the hotspot I was having trouble with. I was able to choose the hotspot, had an excellent signal strength and was assigned an IP but never got any further than that.
So I'm not sure what NetSpot will be able to do for me in that situation but I'll download it and try it.

HOWTO: Connect Alien Wireless Hot Spot To Time Capsule/Airport

I switched over to a wireless device as my ISP, as my local Cable company boosted the bill 50%, and there is no DSL or any other service. A nice '10GB' plan. I should be able to eck by on that.
Naturally, my little 4G 'Hot Spot' works great with a computer or two connected to it wirelessly. But there are no ethernet ports, and it basically 'blocks' when a Time Machine backup goes through it to the Time Capsule, when that connects to it. Its little CPU is too busy with that backup to respond to other requests. It's itty bitty humming bird heart can't take it. Sigh.
After discovering that Apple does not allow one to bridge (aka 'extend') a wireless network unless it supports 'WDS' was an annoyance. Naturally the little pocket-sized hot spot box doesn't support 'WDS'. The point where I discovered that Apple's firmware DISABLES the switched ethernet ports when it connected to an existing wireless network was especially annoying.
After a little brainstorming and searching around I determined that THERE IS A WAY!: Old School!
Various manufacturers make a device called a 'Wireless Ethernet Bridge'. What this is intended for is ethernet peripherals like game consoles or printers or computers that don't have a wireless connection. It connects to the wireless network FOR an ethernet wired device that can't. Even ones that can't because the manufacturer is being an [expletive deleted].
So, basically jump through the hoops required to configure your bridge to connect to your wireless network, whatever it may be, plug it into the 'WAN' port of the Airport/Time Capsule router, and set the time capsule/airport to 'Bridge' the connection.

Ok, I had the same issue, my phone is unlocked(iphone 5 with 6.1.3). So I went to the apple store and had it replaced. it worked good for a day and started doing the same thing. When the apple tech replaced my phone, he transfered my screen protector to the new one.
so I thought it was my sim card, I put in my sisters sim card from a different carrier and it did the same, so then I was like let me take off the screen protector, and that was it.
so guys, if you have a screen protector on your phone and it's doing "low signal", "No Service", "Searching", "Full bars cycle" then take off the screen protector. so far my phone is working normal.
