Mine will not connect to my wifi at all. I've trouble shooted like it tells me too but still won't connect!

If you have a wireless MAC filter set up on your router, it blocks new devices from being added. Disable this filter, just make sure you still have a password to secure your network.

Can I connect Apple TV via ethernet to my Apple Extreme ethernet LAN port to create a wi-fi area using the Apple TV device? or do I need to:
Connect a second Time capsule and connect via Ethernet LAN i.e. 2 Airport Extremes connected via Lan Ethernet with the second connected to Apple TV via LAN Ethernet?
The distance between the original Time Capsule is far too great for the Apple TV to connect and transfer quickly.

Then how will I get it to extend the wi-fi i.e. how do I set-up?
Will an Extreme be faster and serve the same purpose?

HT2822 Apple TV connection : xfinity hot spot?

is there a way to connect my ATV to the xfinity hot spot? It says connected but it doesn't redirect me to log on to xfinity. So my screen only shows settings box and computers box

a computer could connect to the hot spot and if the computer was set to share it's internet then maybe the Apple TV could connect to the computer

Which model do you have? Requires iPhone 4S (or later), iPad 2 (or later). If so are they all up to date?
Is your Apple TV up to date? Have you enabled airplay?

I plugged my an ethernet cable from my Airport Extreme to my Apple TV but it won't recognize it, only allowing me to connect through wifi. It was working fine since I bought it last week. Any ideas on what may be going on? Thanks.

Yes. I moved my Airport Extreme to another room and connected my Apple TV directly to the ethernet cable.

Hi,
Im having throuble on connecting my Apple TV to my network.
On settings it only shows Ethernet but I only have wifi. To the device there are only the power and the HDMI cables connected.
Wifi is available in the room - Im using on my Iphone to send this message - And I have already reset it and restart it but Ethernet is the only option.
Any suggestion?

Does your routers name show at all?
If not, it may be a push to connect, or hidden network. How do you usually connect wireless devices?
Are you setting up far from your router?

HT2822 apple tv won't stay connected

It is difficult to connect to my network. Once connected, it doesn't stay connected.

Answers can only be as helpful as the details provided. And in this case none were give. What is happening? Error message? Other WiFi devices have issues? It is actually losing the connection or is your streaming content just freezing?
Trying to do streaming video over WiFi is not a great idea. Even if you are using the really high end WiFi hardware it will never be completely solid. You really want to use a wired connection for that.

HT2822 I want to use my Apple TV on ethernet and wireless...

I watch iTunes programs on TV via my Apple TV and prefer an ethernet connection for transfer speed and reliability, but I also want to watch live (internet) TV via my iPAD through Apple TV Airplay and this requires a wireless connection.
I don't seem to be able to do this switch automatically on an as required basis, as Apple TV prioritises the ethernet connection and drops the wireless,so I've had to revert to a wireless connection for both scenarios in lieu of tedious manual switching from one to the other and back.
Can anyone suggest a better way.
I have a wireless modem router and Powerline adaptors around the house. Apple TV is latest generation.
iPad3 is on latest iOS.
pc is Win 8.1.
iTunes is 11.1.5.5.

I assure you it only needs to connect to your network via one or the other.
Then there is an issue with AirPlay.

LAN is local area network or the ethernet connections for your network.
WLAN is wide are network and refers to your connection to the internet.

Not sure if iPhone would work as a router to connect several devices eg computer via wifi to allow itunes content on computer to stream to appletv.
I've used a mifi 3G device to accomplish this kind of thing in the past.

HT2822 How can I enter my login information for Apple TV?

I am at a hotel that requires a login to connect to the internet. I don't see any screen that allows me to enter a password. I can connect easily to the wifi, but can't get past that to iTunes.

Most hotels require you to log on to a web-page to connect to the Internet, you will not be able to do that with an Apple TV.

HT2822 Network Cable not overriding WiFi connection on Apple TV

I prefer to use the network cable so when I plug in the cable, the Apple TV continues to uses the WiFi radio. I would simply disable WiFi on the Apple TV but that's not possible. I guess I can erase the WiFi settings and password.

If you have stable wifi with good connectivity it should work fine - in reality many people struggle with wifi.
I was plagued by interference issues with wifi whenever the microwave was used and would always use ethernet now as my first preference for stability.
As the house is not wired for ethernet several years ago I tried mains powerline network adapters that are made by many companies.
I use these from Devolo currently:

They are excellent and you can create a wired network in minutes without running long lengths of cable.
As with wifi they never achieve the highest rated speeds and are dependent on the wiring quality but are more than adequate for HD streaming to multiple AppleTVs.
Many other manufacturers produce these eg Belkin, Netgear etc as well as lesser known brands.

Any HDTV with an HDMI port will work. Apple TV is very easy to set up, even easier if you have an Apple router, like the Airport Extreme.
good internet connection is critical. Low speed, dial up or DSL is often not fast enough for a good viewing experience as the video will load very slowly.

If you have the appropriate hardware you might try this feature:
Using your mobile device to set up the Apple TV.
Otherwise you will need to purchase a new remote from the Apple Store.

HT2822 Why doesn't a network list appear anymore yet Apple TV says I'm connected to the internet?

Since updating Apple TV I lost the usual main menu. Now I can't even see Network lists like I did before the update. The main menu show options for Computer Sharing and Settings. Apple informs me that I am connected to the Internet through built in ethernet so why doesn't a network list appear?

Are you actually connected using ethernet, if you are then you won't see a list of networks.
You clearly do have a problem, however before addressing that problem it would help if we could sort out whether you have an ethernet connection or not.
