HT2822 Setting up date and time is taking forever and failed to do it automatically or manually.

Hello:
When I tried to configure my new Apple TV for some reason it kept trying to set the date and time automatically but wasn't able to. I tried to do it manually but couldn't do it either. When I tried to skip this part and log into my iTunes account it said I had to set the date and time first. So it seems like I'm stuck in this loop. Any hints?

Assuming this is not the first time you have used your Apple TV
You might try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Also try restarting the router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
If the problem persists, try a restore, you may want to try the previous procedures several times before doing this.
If restoring from the Apple TV doesn't help, try restoring from iTunes using a USB cable.
If this is a new Apple TV, in addition to trying the above, it may also be that your network router is not allowing access to the timeserver, check that your router allows access over port 123.

  • Time Machine taking forever and backing up extensive files.  Help!

Ever since we upgraded my spouse's iMac, Time Machine has been acting up.  My Mac store/guru guy migrated all the files from her really old G5 to her "new" (refurbished) aluminum iMac... NOT from the external HD she used for her Time Machine back-ups.  When we connected the external HD to her new iMac, Time Machine automatically made a new back-up folder and did a complete back-up to that new folder.  That was unexpected but understandable.  After that, however, subsequent back-ups take forever, and Time Machine insists on preparing tens of thousands of files for back-up every time it runs, even though the great majority of said files had not been touched and did not need to be backed up.  I will periodically check Time Machine preferences during these interminable back-ups, and sometimes it will be stuck in the "preparing" phase, and sometimes in the "finishing up" phase.  The poor external HD just cranks and cranks and cranks.
I've read many of the Time Machine-related questions and responses, but none seem to address this particular problem.  I tried putting the external HD on the Spotlight Preferences/Privacy/Indexing exclusion list, quitting System Preferences, then opening it up again and reversing the process to see whether Spotlight would re-index the external HD (per one communities suggestion I read), but that didn't seem to take place.
I have yet to visit the site referenced several times as the Time Machine FAQ gold mine; will do that next.
    Any other ideas, anyone?

Thanks, Joe.  My software is up to date.  I forgot to mention that, after this first began happening, I erased the external HD and had Time Machine start all over again.  It did the first, complete backup overnight, but subsequent ones still take longer than they should and it still prepares 90,000 - 120,000 items when it should be doing no where near that many files on an hourly basis.  I'm wondering whether the cable needs to be changed out, as well.  We're running OS 10.6.8.

  • Screen keeps saying Setting date and time, tried to reset and or restart still won't reset

Screen keeps saying Setting date and time, tried to restart and reset but does not work, did follow direstions unplugging apple TV  still not resetting/restarting, any help?

Aha! A bit more searching and I found the answer that just fixed it for me.
Press Menu and the Back arrow at the same time until a broken chain icon appears on the top left of the screen.
    Let them go....
Press Menu and Right arrow (forward arrow) until a "fixed" or "whole" chain appears.
This enabled my apple tv to once again respond and get off the "setting time and date" screen.
    Hope it works for you.

I'm trying to sync my new ipod touch and it is taking forever to sync is this normal?

At what stage it is freezing?
There are six steps or so.
Try resetting the iPod. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Can I use two Time Capsules? one as an extension of my laptop (for music and video storage) and the other one to back up everything from the laptop and  Time Capsule (for music and videos)

Can I use two Time Capsules? one as an extension of my laptop (for music and video storage) and the other one to back up everything from the laptop and  Time Capsule (for music and videos)

Not via Time Machine.   It cannot back up from a network location.
The 3rd-party apps CarbonCopyCloner and ChronoSync may be workable alternatives.
EDIT:  And, if you're going to do that, you could back up from the Time Capsule to a USB drive connected to the TC's USB port.  Second TC not required.

I'm backing up my new iphone 5 from icloud and it's taking forever for my photos to download. It's been going for 4 days. It's downloaded 1400 out of 1900 photos. Am I doing something wrong?

I think you may not using the right technical terms.  When backing up to icloud, there is no way you'd get a message saying things will be wiped.  This message may be displayed when you are performing a RESTORE from a backup and then trying to cancel it.
If you are doing a restore, then you can reboot and restore again.

  • Please fix date and time formatting in Hub and Calendar

    Hello,
During initial setup I have used "English" as a setup language, but have since then changed it to "Croatian".
In BlackBerry Hub, Calendar and Lock screens day and month names are still displayed and formatted in English.
I noticed this bug briefly reported in another thread, but it is burried and not clearly visible, hence I'm putting it here by itself.
This screenshot of Hub list proves language is in Croatian, but you can see "Friday, Augus..." in the swipped BlackBerry Hub.
In addition to resolving this bug, please consider implementing "formatting" setting under "Date and Time" so that a user can pick a formatting that is indipendent of their language. For example, a short list of predefined selections such as:
    <Day name>, <Month name> <Day number>, <Year>
    <Month day> <Month name>, <Year>.
    <Year>-<Month number>-<Day number>
Thank you in advance for your consideration. Regards,

Can you describe your problem a bit more. How are you passing the data, what is the error being seen in excel

  • The date and time of files created and saved are off

I notice that under the date modified column, files that I have saved or updated are usually a day off. I checked the date and time in the system preferences and it is correct. is something wrong with the battery?

    Hi, paulmont -
Be sure the Time Zone setting is correct.
If you have time displayed as 12-hour (rather than 24-hour), be sure the AM/PM setting is correct. Having that wrong will displace the mod/create date/time recorded for a file by 12 hours, which will (at times) shift it to another day.
If you use Classic, make sure the same settings are in Classic as well as in OSX, particularly the Time Zone setting. This is especially true for machines which can be and are booted into OS 9. The typical symptom for this being the cause is an offset of one or a few hours.

  • I was having problems with my iPhone 5s. Was able to get another 5s. In the process of setting it up, but it is taking forever ... and it seems to be frozen at one particular place.

I was having problems with my iPhone 5s (couldn't receive iMessages or emails). Cell company tried "fixing it" but to no avail. They ordered me a repacement 5s. Trying to set up, but it is taking forever. Seems to be stuck in one particular spot. It's at the stage with a black screen, white apple icon and a bar underneath. The bar is is just a fraction complete, and it has been stuck in this spot for almost an hour. Tried to restart it but it went to the same spot and froze again.

    BOB we need you urgently
Perhaps Bob will see this thread, he is the professor in these cases.
You do not use a WEP password but wpa/wpa2 on router and equipment.
All equipment connects to WiFi, but for your iPad.
Even with all other equipment WiFi off, you cannot connect your iPad.
Your iPad connects to other WiFi nets correctly.
All resets etc done on iPad and Router.
Still I am not sure it is your router for sure, frustrating...
I want to test 2 other things:
    1. in your iPad, set everything OFF in Settings/Cellular, turn off/then/on your WiFi, and see whether it will still not connect...
    2. If that does not do it: disconnect the router as well as the modem from the power, for 15 seconds, then reconnect the modem, let it fully start, then reconnect the routet let it fully start, turn of your WiFi in iPad, then on, and see whether it will connect.

  • Date and time for credit block and release in Sales document

    Hi.
For sales document [sales order and delivery], we need to find out the date and time :
    1. when it was blocked from credit block.
    2. when it was released from credit block.
Is there a standard table that stores these dates and time?
    Tks.

Try as in Environment--> Changes in sales Order.
    Or VKM2

  • HT1212 Every time i try to turn on my Ipad the only i can see the the date and time for a second and them the screem goes off again !

I have an Ipad 2 /. Everytime a push the bottom to turn it in the screem shows the time for a second and the screem goes black again
    what can I do ??

    Are you sure it's charged?
Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.

  • I am setting up my ipad and it is taking forever for the wifi stage to finish, i am setting up my ipad and it is taking forever for the wifi stage to finish

why is this happening ? how long will this take .. its almost been 2 hours

It took me less than two minutes for the iPad to find my WiFi network when I updated to iOS 5 - which is basically the same process that you are going through now.
There is no way that the spinner should be going for two hours - I assume that is what is happening - the iPad will not connect to your home Wifi. I have never set up a PC free iPad out of the box, but what I would do is turn off the iPad, and reboot your router (unplug from power for about 30 seconds and then plug in again) and then start up the iPad again and retry.

  • Incremental Backups in Time Machine taking forever

    Greetings all,
I have read the various posts about slow initial backups with Time Machine. I, on the other hand, had no such problem. However, now that my initial backup is complete I find it takes quite a long time for Time Machine to do its hourly thing. I mean a LONG time. The machine will sit for minutes at a time doing nothing, then copy a few kilobytes of a reported 239 MB backup. Then when it finally does complete - roughly 30 minutes later - it will sit for 10 or 15 minutes at the "Finishing backup" stage. At this rate Time Machine is running almost constantly - by the time the darnned thing finishes it's almost time to start again. It didn't do this on my G5 quad core with the same amount of data (about 850 GB). Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening?
    Thanks for your help.

    Your Majesty!!
Sounds like your incremental backups are quite fast!
I have a mid 2011 iMac with SSD and 2TB HDD, and Time Machine incremental backups take anything up to 5 hours, sometimes longer.  Trivial amounts of data are usually involved, but the log reports very large numbers of files.
One time I completed a Time Machine backup, rebooted and initiated another backup immediately with very few apps running (Console, Activity Monitor), and after several hours, the backup log said it had backed up over 800,000 files but only a very small amount of data.
I have a case open with AppleCare since July 1st.  They have a whole lot of logs and other information being analyzed.
