HT2905 iTunes 11 has no "Display Duplicates" ?

I have upgraded to iTunes 11 and cannot find "Display Duplicates" under File or anywhere else. Anyone know where it has been relocated?

The show duplicates/show exact duplicates features have been left out of iTunes 11.0. Rumor suggests they will be restored in the next build. In the meantime I have written two Windows scripts to make playlists of Duplicates and Exact Duplicates, either from a selection of tracks or the entire library. Note that, as with the iTunes feature, this list makes no distinction between "originals" and "dupes", you have to decide which is which.
There is also my DeDuper script for automatically removing duplicate copies but keeping one remaining copy of each set. This can preserve ratings, play counts, playlist membership, etc. which are lost in a manual clean up. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping. See this thread for background on deduping and the script.
If you want to manually remove duplicate tracks use shift-delete to remove selected tracks from the library as well as the playlist. Keep one of each repeated group of files and don't send the others to the recycle bin unless you are sure that there are multiple files on the disc as opposed to multiple entries to the same file. HT2905 I updated the latest itunes software and Display Duplicates is no longer under the file menu. How do I get rid of all the duplicates?

Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin. Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. (If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed)
Note if some of the duplicate items have the iCloud link icon sign out of the store, then sign in again.

Itunes has duplicated all the songs of my library; how can you get rid of duplicates the quickest way possible knowing that I can't use
the suggestion to delete albums as they are the songs and not the albums which have been duplicated.

The script still works as intended whether you can pre-filter for duplicates or not. As of right now there may be an issue with some of my scripts if the library is displaying available iCloud purchases. Untick Edit > Preferences > Store > Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases if the script bombs complaining of missing object properites.

ITunes 11 removed Display duplicates option

I don't think implementation would have been an issue. Much of the behind the scenes code won't have been changed. The duplicates filter will most likely be a pretty standard SQL query.
One of the problems with the old display duplicates feature was that novice users would select all the displayed items and delete them, only to discover that their library now contained no copies of the tracks that had previously been duplicated. Even when this is understood there are a number of different ways of generating duplicates in iTunes, some of which create extra files on the hard drive, some of which don't. When deleting it is important to know which you have otherwise you can delete the only physical copy of a track in error. This is one of the reasons I wrote the DeDuper script, not because I needed it, but because I was interested to see if it could be done automatically and safely. I haven't completely achieved the second goal yet (problems with a special case where one file is added to the library from two different paths), but automating the process allows preservation & amalgamation of ratings, play counts, playlist membership which just isn't possible by hand. ITunes has stopped displaying my music

Hi, my iTunes has stopped showing the music and podcasts from my library. The library/content is still there, in the same location, but iTunes doesn't show it any more... I've tried re-installing iTunes, but no change. Any advice? Thanks

Why doesn't the new itunes find and display duplicates?

it's annoying. Also, I can't display just a single artist and display by song, so I can see the duplicates by artist.

Unfortunately this feature isn't part of iTunes 11. Apple announced though they want to restore the feature with a small update.
To display a single artist and display by song, you could use the search option in the "song" tab. Disable "Search entire library" in the search options.

My itunes has created a duplicate podcast folder. How can I delete this? I can't sync my podcasts to my ipod because there are now two Podcast folders.

How do I delete the duplicate podcast folder? Because there are two podcast folders it is stopping my ipod nano from syncing when i plug it in. I have searched the libraries on the hard drive but this extra podcast folder can't be found.

I have figured out a workaround that may work for you. It doesn't address the cause of the problem but it has gotten me past the problem. Note: Mac OSX
1. Make note of all of the podcasts that you currently have in each of your folders. You will need this to get back to your current position if you choose.
2a. Right click on the first of the two folders named Podcast. (Command Click, two-finger tap, as appropriate.) Delete should appear as an option. Select it. All of the contents and subscriptions in that folder will be lost.
On my system, Delete appeared as an option only on the first of the two folders named Podcast.
2b. I deleted the contents of the second folder but, in retrospect, I don't think that was necessary.
3. You should now be left with just one Podcast folder.
4. Go to the iTunes store and resubscribe or download the podcasts you wish to restore. All of the podcasts should appear in the one remaining podcast folder. When I hit refresh to check, it did not crash this time.
5. Sync to your ipod. I got a warning message about the mismatch, said ok and let the sync proceed. It appears to have worked, as it did on my ipad.

Would you please expand on your problem. Duplicate usual refers to the exact same track - same artist / same song name although live versions would be shown as duplicate with studio version. I usually have to add "live" to track title.

There is no Display Duplicates in iTunes 11 - if I had known I would not have updated this is essential when adding CD's to the library - and I can find no way to contact apple as I have to have a product with a serial number to ask them a question about iTunes!!!! Can anyone help or ask them where Display Duplicates has gone.
I am in the middle of loading up all my husbands CD's and I have a ton still to do and this Display Duplicates is essential.
