HT2905 Where is the "File" tab in the New iTunes?

I just downloaded the "new itunes". I have a lot of duplicate songs but the "answer" I found about how to do this starts with "
Choose File > Display Duplicates to show duplicate items..." There is no FILE in the new software. How can I do this?

The show duplicates feature is now under the View menu. Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Or use my DeDuper script if you don't want to do it by hand. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping. Where is the iPad App file sharing in the new itunes?

I exported a file from ArtRage App. One is supposed to go to iPad Tab, then Apps Section, and scroll to the bottom and find the file. But I just updated to the new iTunes and I don't see a way get the file anywhere within it. With iTunes 11 you can enable the left-hand sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC. Then select the iPad on that left-hand sidebar, and on the right-hand side of iTunes select the Apps tab and scroll down it, and you should see the file sharing section - select that app on the left-hand side of that section

Where is the EXACT version number shown? Where is the menu link to the Help file? Why is there no scroll bar? The new iTunes is terrible in more ways than I can list... how do I switch back to version 10?

You may need to bring up your Menu Bar to see the Help menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Once you've got your Help menu showing, go "Help > About iTunes" and wait for the version number to scroll up from the bottom of the screen, as per the previous versions.

Where is the “apps” menu item in the new iTunes interface? I can no longer transfer files from my PC to my iPhone.

Tonefox, no it's not under "Music" but I did some more digging and found where Apple has "hidden" Apps on their latest iTunes for PC. You need to click on "iPhone" (upper right menu item) to display more menue items, of which Apps is one of them. When I had clicked on "iPhone" before, I mistakenly closed the the iPhone option from view because I clicked on the up arrow next to iPhone, instead of just iPhone. Once you click on iPhone, the options look similar to what they did in the earlier version of iTunes and you can easily find Apps.

Where is the actual iTunes media located on my Mac?

I never have enough storage on my mac air - this is ok as i have a hard drive
My question is, where is the true itunes media, such as films and music located? is it in the itunes app, or is itunes just like a media player and the actual files (which take up the storage) are in the itunes media folder? or is there a copy in tunes and in the media folder as I always have double the amount of videos on my ma than i have initunes which i dont understand as i wiped my mac and only put films into itunes

The new iTunes 12 does not have a rent tab. I've downloaded two movies which appear in the Movies folder on my Windows Explorer but not in the actual iTunes programme itself. Completely frustrating!

When iTunes/iPod sync process failed due to timeout, the iPod, has only the initilaised filesytem structure at the start of the Sync.
The timeout failure could be due to
Bad hardisk - do the iPod disk diagnostic, refer to this excellent post by tt2
Slow USB port or resource - Dont use any USB hub, disconnect all other USB devices while syncing
Timeout due to Antivirus or other plugins - disconnect from Internet and stop the Antivirus or monitoribng software if you are syncing.
Preferably stop doing other things while syncing this ancient device, which the latest iTunes designer, think will soon be extinct.

I have to reinstall Acrobat 8 that was preinstalled on my laptop. It was reformatted due to malware and I have to reinstall everything. I have the disk and hte serial number but my laptop does not have a CD drive. The link that was previous listed did not work. Where is the new link?

In the new iTunes 11 where is the genius sidebar that used to be on the right hand side of your music playlist?

In the old version of iTunes you had a genius sidebar on the right hand side of your music library that showed similar artists and songs to the song that was currently being played or highlighted in your personal library. Where is that function in the new iTunes 11?

I looked under file but I couldn't find the "Genius & Playlist" option. I also looked under the other options on the top left side but I couldn't find it there either. And all "Genius suggestions" does for me is show similar songs already purchased in my library. It doesn't show me anything new that I haven't purchased.

If you are talking about the Hard Drive, click on the Hard Disk on your Desktop to highlight it and then from the Finder menu > File select *Get Info*. You can also press Command + i to get the same dialogue box to open.
There you will see, the Capacity of the Hard drive, how much is used and how much free space remains.
If you are talking about the RAM, that shows in the first opening window of System Profiler.

Is there any way to delete duplicate files en mas within the new itunes program?

I've just installed the new itunes program on my laptop. I used the scan for media option to find music. Problem is almost every entry and there's several hundred of them is duplicated and in some cases triplicated within the itunes media library.
Question ... Is there any way to delete duplicated files en mas withing the itunes library folder?
Please don't tell me that I'm going to have to do it individually as that may take days.

Apple's official advice on duplicates is here... HT2905: How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as lost ratings and playlist membership.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background, this post for detailed instructions, and please take note of the warning
to backup your library before deduping.

The most recent version of the script can tidy dead links as long as there is at least one live duplicate to merge stats and playlist membership to and should cope sensibly when the same file has been added via multiple paths.

I can't find the summery tab on the new itunes. please help!

I'm locked out of my ipod(4th generation). I have synced and downloaded the new itunes because that is what I had to do. Now I can't find the summery tab in itunes so I can restore my ipod. I tried to start over and now it says i don't have enough space to sync my ipod again. I don't do well with computers so someone please help!!??

iTunes has not had a sidebar for over a year. You can see one (as iTunes 10 used to show) by doing View > Show Sidebar from iTunes' menu.
But I'm not sure if that is your issue. You do not need a sidebar to do home sharing. Are you running the current iTunes (11.1.3)? Have you turned on sharing in Preferences? Have you done File > Turn on Home Sharing?

The exclamation mark means that the app has lost the link to the actual file.
First step: try and make sure the iPhoto Library is working correctly:
Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

I just got the new itunes and I can open itunes and see my music but whenI try and go to the itunes store it just loads to a white page. I try and refresh and go to the home page and nothing happens. I can sign into my account and the tabs for the itunes
