  • My Ipod wont sync with my new library and I dont know why not. It will show that it is connected through home sharing, but it is only avalible when i am with my laptop! I dont know how to get this current library as mine on my ipod, help!

My ipod will not sync with my laptop. I have had previous Ipods in the past, but since then I have grown out of most of my music. Also about a year and a half ago I got a new laptop. I used the same Itunes name, but now on my new Ipod it has all of my old music and it refuses to download any of my new music. When I am using home sharing though, it says that I can turn on my "Library" but that my "music" is what is perminately on the computer. This only works though if I am near my laptop. When I try to transfer my library onto my ipod it wont let me. My music on my ipod is completely different than my normal itunes library on my computer and I have no idea how to transfer it. When I plug it in, it wont sync at all, or show that there is any device even plugged in. I am frustrated and tired of not having any  of my music, so someone please help!!!

You can only sync to one computer/iTunes library. To make this your syncing computer:

  • Ipod Wont Sync My Music in itunes

Ok big problem. I have all my music saved onto a 120Gig Western digital Portable Hard drive. i have an 80gig ipod. ive had it for about 5-6 months. i am now having a problem where it wont sync. what happends is that all of my music is in the itunes library. when i try to sync my ipod, none of the music syncs and all of the locations of the original file become lost. when i go into my hard drive and look, all of the files are missing. but when i either unplug the hard drive or restart my comp all of my music is there again. if i try again it does the same thing over and over. any suggestions? t would be appreciated. thanks.

In answer to your last question, no - your iPod is not a goner, but you need to work out what has happened first so that it doesn't happen again. I'm guessing that if you look at "Other" on your iPod you may find it's quite large.
Look on your iPod, go to the Settings menu and choose the About option; on that first display the graphic should show lots of blue (audio), some darker blue (video), some yellow/orange (photos if you have any) and a small amount of orange/red (other). That's the sequence, don't worry if the colours are slightly off or not there. If the last one - other is larger than the audio then that's where your storage has gone!
I still think that your PC has allocated a different letter to the external hard drive compared to when you previously added the music. Then, when the iPod cannot find the music on your PC when synced, it moves the songs to "other". Have you checked to make sure there are no "rogue" drive letters still allocated and have you ruled out the possibility of connecting the hard drive in another sequence when connecting up other USB devices? (As I mentioned in my last post.) Once you have done that, then look in iTunes.
If I understand you correctly, only some of the songs (in iTunes) have an exclamation mark against them, while some do not, is that correct? If so, it means that iTunes cannot find the location of ones with exclamation marks. So look at some of the songs that do not have an exclamation mark and try the *Get info/Where* to find out where iTunes thinks they are. Then check to see if the same drive letter is allocated to the hard drive when you connect it. They should be the same letter, are they?
If not, that's been the problem. If they are the same, try "asking" iTunes to see if it can now find the location of one of the missing tracks. (It's possible of course, that some newer added songs were added after the drive letter changed and this will be a problem, but let's hope not!)
So, what's the situation now? If you think the problem is a changed drive letter, make sure that the correct drive letter is now allocated and then ask iTunes to find the missing songs. (Unfortunately, this might be on a song-by-song basis!)
Once you find the missing songs, (or if you don't you will just have to import them again into iTunes.) and your iTunes is now complete again, it's time to sort out the iPod.
Connect up the iPod and on the iTunes Summary screen, use the Restore function. This will restore your iPod to its factory settings and remove everything from it, thus freeing up the missing storage space. then a fresh Sync will add everything back onto the iPod again. As you can appreciate, all this will take a bit of time, which is why you need to understand what happened so you don't have to go through this again.
Let us know how you get on.
    Good luck,

  • Ipod wont sync with Itunes

Sumiko, I'd suggest you start a new topic with your issue (use the "Post a new topic" link at the top of each main topic page). It's generally better to ask a question as a new topic rather than as a reply in someone else's thread. It's more courteous to the original poster, and is more likely to get your question the attention it deserves.
    Regards.

  • Our ipods wont sync purchased music since the itunes update

After our most recent itunes update, our purchased music doesn't sync with our ipods.  You must click on the song and drag it to the playlist you want.  Also, we are unable to fine a sort feature that shows purchaced music by most recent purchace, only by artist.  What is the fix for this, or is it a simple setting change?

  • My ipod wont sync with mac

i have an older (wheel) 64gb ipod.  It is not letting me sync the songs i have on my ipod with my itunes library. I get a msg that says if yousync this ipod to your library you will lose all your songs and movies.  I dont want to lose anything instead I want toadd the songs and movies on my ipod to my mac library.  This was never a problem before but I do have 5 other mac items sync to the same account.  Is that's what causing the problem?

    Hello KatarinaW,
While not specifically for Windows 8, the following article provides several options for transferring your library that can be used in most versions of Windows.
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer

This article will step you through the process of enabling 'manual mode' on your iPod Classic, which will allow you to sync it with multiple computers without disrupting the current contents of the iPod.

  • Help please! my ipod wont sync with my libary anymore..

Can anyone help? - my ipod is only picking up a few songs from my libary yet it worked fine before!
My libary has 1702 songs and seems fit and well but its only syncing 630 to the ipod. This has only happenned in the last few weeks - i have downloaded the new itunes today but still the smae problem.
I've tried to restore with no results (in fact there is now less songs than before!)
    Am i doing something wrong?
    Thanks.

    Hi Mike_200207,
Does it work if you manually manage your iPod's music?
To switch to that setting, click on your iPod in the Source List of iTunes, and go to the "Music" tab. Deselect the "Sync" option, and click on "Apply" in the bottom-right corner of this iTunes screen to save your settings.
Then, in iTunes, click on your iPod's "Music" section. Manually select all of the songs, and delete them off of your iPod. Then eject/disconnect the iPod from your computer.
Now, connect it back to the computer again, and try to manually transfer all of your iTunes library songs to your iPod (to do that, select all of the songs, and drag them to your iPod's name in the Source List of iTunes).
After the songs have loaded to your iPod, you can eject/disconnect it again, and see if all of the songs that you transferred appear on the iPod.
