HT2978 Genius playlist on iPhone 5s

I just switched from a iPhone 5 to a 5s. I can't make a genius playlist in the music app. What's up? Did they take this away with the 5s?

Don't know if this is of any help, but I recently bought a song from the iTunes store (let's hypothetically call it "Africa," by Toto...the choir at my daughter's school was singing it a capella, and did a fine job BTW) and copied it to my iPod Touch. (I manage music manually, FWIW). When I tried to create a genius playlist from "Africa" I got the message "This song does not have enough related songs to create a Genius Playlist." Since I could create a Genius playlist on my computer from "Africa," I figured the problem was I had not first geniused the song on my computer before putting it on the Touch. I deleted it from the Touch, updated Genius on my computer, then copied the song back to the Touch. Voila, as we say on the Serengeti, it worked: Genius playlist on the Touch from "Africa." Lot of effort for a Toto song, I'll grant you, but there was a principle involved....

  • How do I erase genius playlist from iPhone?

Since I upgraded my IPhone to iOS7, several Genius Playlists randomly appeared on my device. I have ITunes match off. I have disabled Genius on ITunes, and synced my device without success. There are 13 empty playlist on my iPhone and I just wish to erase them. How can I do this so that next time I sync the devices, the wont appear again?

I too have exactly 13 empty Genius playlists above my regular playlists.  It does not give the option to delete them.  I just want to get rid of the 12 duplicates.

  • Where is genius playlist on iphone

After subscribing to iTunes Match, the genius playsist doesn't show on my iPhone4. All the cloud music is there, but I can't figure out how to create a genius playlist on the iPhone4.

The "My Number" information (i.e. Your mobile number) is stored on the SIM card, if your number isn't appearing at the top of the contacts list or in iTunes, you need to manually add the number. Take the SIM card out of the iPhone, put it into another mobile where you can edit the "My Number" part (I used a Sony Ericsson K800i - It's under 'Special Numbers'), put the SIM back into the iPhone and the number should appear.

  • Genius Playlist on iPhone

Anyone having a problem getting the Genius playlist to work on the iPhone.
I have the same music on iTunes as I do on my iPhone (750 tracks I think), I can get a playlist created on iTunes no problem, but on the iPhone with exactly the same tracks it is telling me it does not have enough information to create a list.

  • HT3843 How to delete Genius Playlists on iPhone 5?

After updating to iOS 7, I suddenly have 76 music playlist, 71 of which are Genius Playlists.
To my knowledge, I did not make these on purpose. All of them are empty, as well.
It's a trivial issue, more of a nuisance, but I still do not know how to get rid of them, any solution?

    Nic,
after browsing some of the related topics, I tried the following: disabled Genius on the host iTunes account, then delete each of the offending playlists (swipe right to left on the playlist, select the delete option that appears).  So far so good. Genius wasn't much of a feature for us, so no real loss.

  • Error in the iphone music app iOS7 with dozens of empty genius playlists

Im getting an error in the iphone music app in iOS7 with dozens of empty genius playlists even tho genius is OFF in my account settings and genius playlists are not selected for syncing with my iphone 5.  All apps, iTunes and iOS 7 are updated.
The option to turn off genius under STORE menu is no longer available in the latest version of iTunes 11.1.
    Thanks.

    Love your comment:
"Oddly the option to Delete is, get this, under Save:"
    LOL!!!!!!!!!
    This is just nuts!
Whoever heard of hitting SAVE to DELETE something....Ha Ha Ha!!!
The lunitics are officially running the asylum.....who knows whet they will do next.
Design cars where you need to engage reverse to access drive.
Many thanks this worked for me and I would NEVER have found it without you.
I would NEVER have hit Save to Delete something...And I mean NEVER!
Maybe if I hit Cancel button below this text box, it will save the contents for me..... Unbelievable!!!

  • Genius on iPhone only displays "This song doesn't have enough related songs to create a Genius Playlist"?

I have 30 days worth of music on my (128 GB) iPhone and it displays the message "This song doesn't have enough related songs to create a Genius Playlist" for even the most popular Beatles tracks. My iTunes library will create Genius playlists with no problem at all, but my phone will not. The only thing I can think of is that I updated Genius after actually putting the music on the phone, but I have turned Genius off/on again on the phone itself to encourage results to be reestablished and yet still nothing. I have also synched the iPhone multiple times since.
I really do not want to remove and re-add 12,000 (75 GB worth) songs from my iPhone just to get some valid Genius results. Does anyone have a solution?

It is like the message says. You do not have enough similar songs for Genius to work.

  • Genius Playlist Creation Causes iPhone music app to lock up

When I try to create a genius playlist from my iphone, the music app locks up.  I have to shut the app down and restart.  All my software is up to date.  Any experience or advice?

This is what helped me (so far) on my iPhone 5 with the latest iOS 7..
On your device open the iTunes Store app and go to more > purchases > recent purchase and select one of the songs..
It should open the music player app with that song without crashing it.
    After that, no crashing here.
    I hope this helps you!

  • Hello, are there many others having problems with creating Genius Playlists from their iPhone 5's

    Hello People,
are there many others experiencing problems creating Genius Playlists from their iPhone 5's???
I have a 64GB Black iPhone 5 and a 32GB White iPhone 5, I have recently performed a fresh install (wiped phone memory and installed Apps individually again) yet even after this and no less then several calls to Apple I am still unable to create a genius playlist on either phone. The message I receive after hitting the Genius "star" is "The operation couldn't be completed. Operation timed out" Operation timed out."
I have tried this also on 3G and receive the same message........

I wish Apple would have provided more detail on how it worked. I wouldn't have posted this if I new that SMS & Mac Calling had nothing to do with Bluetooth pairing.
You mean like this? Get help using Continuity with iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite
Please note how Apple articulates this though.
    Check your settings
Check the following settings on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:
Go to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn on Wi-Fi if necessary.
Make sure your iOS devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network by going to Settings > Wi-Fi and comparing the name of the network each is on.
Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn on Bluetooth if necessary.
Go to Settings > General > Handoff & Suggested Apps and make sure Handoff is on.
Go to Settings > Phone. If you see Wi-Fi Calling, turn it off.
Sometimes things have to be explained in more detail for the general consumer who has been conditioned for decades to think about wireless  cellphone audio / light data to [anything other device else] connectivity in a certain fashion. That is to say Bluetooth dependent ...
For the non-technical person, which overwhelmingly many Apple users are, they would see that bulleted point and think if Bluetooth is not paired and active, then they would not received the full scope of their Continuity features.
It would have been better for the copywriter who wrote this to (*) footnote this entry and explain that while Bluetooth recognition may be necessary between Yosemite and iPhone, SMS Push to iMessage and Mac Calling does not require an actively paired connection as these functions are dependent on iCloud and both devices being registered on the same WiFi network.
Thank you to all who helped me get my mind around and figure this out.
It has also opened my eyes to how iCloud has become a critical link in Apple's overall walled garden  and business strategy.

  • Genius playlists not showing on shared iPhone 4s

all other music (including regular playlists) play fine through my iPhone 4s through home sharing, my genius playlists appear in the playlist list, but, when I open a playlist there are no tracks showing.

You need to work through the following steps on the iPhone http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5637
This will work unless you have corrupt material already on the iPhone, here restoring the iPhone is effective.
Ensure the iPhone has latest IOS installed and follow these steps:
On your iOS device, go to Settings > Music.
Tap the iTunes Match switch to set it to ON.
To access your music in iCloud, open the Music Player app on your device. It may take a few minutes for your iTunes Match library to appear on your device depending on your Internet connection, and how large your iTunes Match library is. You may see an iCloud icon with a progress bar while your device syncs with iTunes Match.
A download button will appear to the right of any content that you have in iCloud that doesn't already exist on your device.
      Important:
When enabling iTunes Match on your iOS device, the music library on your iOS device will be deleted and then replaced with your music in iCloud.
Syncing music with iTunes will be disabled while iTunes Match is enabled on your iOS device.
By default, when adding an iOS device to iTunes Match, downloading over a cellular network is not enabled. To enable downloading over cellular for iTunes Match, choose Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Use Cellular Data > On.

  • 13 empty genius playlists at my iphone 4S

    hello everyone,
I have 13 Genius playlists on my iphone 4s totally empty, there's no music  in these lists,
I can not remove, tried to restore my iphone, still could not remove at all, the annoying this is that gotta scroll down for all until they get where I want.
    Anyone know a solution?
    thank you !!!!

    Thank you for your attention!
No  in the MAC, in general preferences, itunes library genius is off, in the library any genius play list,
at iphone plugged, "on this iphone", no genius playlist,
only in the iphone there are 13  ....... I visualize the 13 genius playlists,  no music there, by default "recently added", "recently played",  "purchased" and and others that I created.
I tried your suggestion, synchronize manually, did not work, other suggestions?
    thank you !!!

  • HT2978 Is there a way to get more than 25 songs on a iPod Genius playlist?

Is there any way to get a Genius playlist (originating) on my iPod to have more than 25 tracks?

Not directly on the iPod. See:

  • HT2978 I have genius playlists previously created that can no longer be refreshed.

"Genius is unavailable for the song 'songname'"
This is on windows 7, itunes 11.0.1.12.
My library is 116235 items, 710 GB.
The previous mixes (there are several) still show up under Genius and play/transfer fine, but cannot be refreshed.
Selecting the same song and creating a new genius playlist does not work either.
I have "updated genius" several times to no avail.
I suppose I am looking for a trick to force genius updates for particular tracks.
At a minimum, I'd like to know if there is a maximum item limit or restriction for the genius results.

Are you trying to drag songs to a regular or a smart playlist? You cannot drag songs to a smart playlist, instead you have to make the tags match the smart playlists conditions (or make the conditions match the tags). If you are having problems dragging to a regular playlist, try opening that playlist in a second window by double clicking on it, move it aside so you can see both iTunes windows, and try dragging the song from the Library into the playlist's window.

  • How do I create a genius playlist while playing a song on iPhone?

I feel like I must be missing something so simple.
I'm playing an album. While a song is on, I decide I'd like a genius mix based on that song. What do I press?
(Note: I mean without going to the "genius" nor the "playlist" tab on the bottom (and then selecting the genius playlist and then having to find the song again - that's annoying).
    Thanks.

  • Where is the Genius playlist function in the 2.1 software update?

I have just updated my iPhone Software to the new 2.1 Version, have gone to use the Genius Playlist function and I can't find it. It's not where Steve Jobs says it is on the scrubber bar, nor is it on the playlist menu. Have also tried the settings function to see if you have to turn it on but there is nothing there. Have Apple forgotten to include it or is it hiding somewhere else?

Before you can use Genius on your device, it has to be enabled in iTunes 8. To learn more about this process, review the information in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2895.
Thee is also an article about understanding the Genius here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2978.
