my iphone went black and it will not come back on even after i held the botons down for a min

Hey dodie67,
Thanks for the question. Sounds like your iPhone stopped responding to buttons, switches, or touchscreen input, so you'd want to go through the troubleshooting steps in the following article and see if that resolves the issue:

  • How can i get my iphone 4 back up after it went dead. It had plenty of power, and it will not come up even after i hold down the home and power buttons for 30 seconds.

My iphone 4 went dead even when there was plenty of batery life. I ran through the reboot for holding down the home button with the power button and it still did not come back up. Any thoughts?

Plug it into a wall outlet for at least 30 minutes, then try resetting it again. If no respose, you most likely have a hardware issue. Make an appointment at an Apple store.

  • My iphone 5c shut off by its own and its been about two hours and it will not come on even when I charge it, why is this?

My Iphone 5c has been shutting off and coming back on, on its own since I got it in December of 2013. I don't know why its doing this but now it did that again and it will not come back on. Even if I put the charger on it.

Do a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.

  • The message "iPad Not Backed Up" appears on the screen and will not go away, even after I push the "OK" button. What can I do?

Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

New (3mo) macbook air screen goes black and sometimes won't come back on after I unplug it from the power cord.  Any ideas why it is doing this? Sometimes I have to hold power button for 10 seconds for it to shut off then back on. Sometimes holding the power button for a second is enough for it to come back on.

I took it to the Genius Bar, and they identified it as a hardware issue. Just got it back today. Parts replaced were:
620-5629 Display Module — Symptom: Distored/blurred/focus video issue
605-3284 Top Case with Keyboard — Symptom: specific key(s) do not work
So far so good. I'd suggest taking it in and not trying to work around it — it's a rare hardware issue (given the number of threads about it) and should be replaced.

Connect to a wall outlet so you have solid power, then do a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.

  • HT201412 ipod touch will not turn on even after ive held down the home and sleep buttons

I have an ipod touch that just recently started to be unresponsive!  It had a good amount of battery left and then all of a sudden it turned off and now will not turn back on even after 30mins of charging.  no charging screen has appeared either.  ive held down both the home n sleep buttons for 10secs or more and still nothing has happened.  then i held down just the home button. still nothing and then i tried holding down the sleep/wake button for a couple seconds and still nothing has happened    are there any other ways of turning my ipod back on or did it **** the bed and i should get a new one?  thanks

  • HT4061 my phone just went off and now will not turn back on... will not connet to itunes to download or backup

ok phone worked one minute and then just cut off and has not come back on ..... no water damage no extreme temperatures.... will not sync with itunes account ... nothing ... any suggestions

try putting it on recovery mode or dfu mode  or http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 or  try to connect the iphone to your computer while holding the home button, if this doeant work more likely your battery is totally dead try doing a hard reset while the iphone is connected to the usb port by pressing the home button and sleep/wake button at same time and wait for the apple to appear and release the sleep wake button usually this works  ... restore the iphone..... if it still continueds to shut down your logic board  or the battery is already  bad

  • While printing on my canon MX892 it shut off and will not come on even after checking plug ins.

While my canon MX892 was printing it shut down and will not turn back on.  What could have happened to cause this problem?

Hi Painter6, Please follow these steps to resolve this issue: 1. Please confirm other devices plugged into the electrical outlet power on. At this time, please do not disconnect the printer at the electrical outlet. If there is an empty electrical slot, plug in a lamp to make sure the outlet is working. 2. Disconnect the power cord completely at the back of the printer. 3. Please push the power cord back into the receptacle ensuring that the cord is pushed in as far as it will go. 4. Pull the cord and see if it easily slips out from the connector or if it seems secure. 5. If the machine does not power on automatically, press the ON/OFF button. 6. If the machine does not power on after the power cord was pushed in all the way at the back of the printer and the ON/OFF button was pressed, please unplug the power cord from the machine and leave it unplugged for no less than 20 minutes. 7. Please then reconnect the power cord, ensuring that the cord is pushed in as far as it will go. 8. Press the ON/OFF button. If your PIXMA MX892 does not power on, it is recommended that you contact live technical support . There is NO charge for this call. Real time feedback of a live technical support call would be very beneficial in this case.
Please dial 1-866-261-9362, Monday - Friday 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. ET (excluding holidays). A Canon technical support representative will be able to resolve this issue faster.

  • I have my AIR plugged into another monitor and after it goes to sleep sometimes it sounds like the system is running and it will not come back up..  I have to restart it.   What is this..  Please help

I have a macbook air and i have it hooked to another monitor and I love it but lately it has after it goes to sleep for a while it sounds like it is trying to run the drive or fan really hard and when I try to bring it alive it does not come back to life so I have to hard boot it and then restart it.   What is this...

Go into Sys. Pref , and power settings and UNcheck "put hard disks to sleep" on both power tab and battery tab.
When on projector use with your Air and a presentation, dont close the monitor or sleep your Air.
Verify any coincident applications running that can/could conflict with projector / sleep occurrence by running Etrecheck:
