So do you mean that you have shared a printer that is installed in the Windows VM that is running in Parallels? And you cannot connect to this shared printer from 10.9?

Go into preferences and under playback turn off background render. That helped speed things for me when working with large files.

I would recommend that you do neither unless there's some feature in Yosemite that you absolutely must have. With broad adoption (i.e., after the OS is released to the public), all kinds of problems surface which get fixed in updates. You can take advantage of their discovery and resolution by giving the OS a chance to mature. Since you're asking about going to Mavericks, which has already been out for eight months, there was clearly not that much exciting (except, perhaps, the price) to encourage an upgrade, so staying put was prudent. Recover the backup you made before you installed. If you didn't backup, make a backup down, and selectively recover pieces of the backup that will work with the older operating system after erase and reinstalling 10.6. See my backup FAQ*:

It sounds like to me you're trying to sync using the computer.
Try these things and see if it helps before you try your next syncing session. If none of the things below work then you might consider trying to sync using iCloud only.
Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.

So what happened to the phone during the process? It should have gone black and restarted a couple of times and there would have been a white progress bar as the update installed. Sounds to me like you've downloaded the update file but not actually installed it. The quickest way to see version of the software is installed is to go to Settings-General-About and check Version.

I can't print PDF docs since Reader XI update

Help!!!!!!! I can't print PDF documents since updating to Reader XI. Had no problems before this update. I have read other users posting and tried one "fix" that was suggested suggesting user try to print docs as "image," but that choice was not active to select. I can't print even older PDFs that are on file in my computer. Please advise - this is interfering with my business. Thanks. I get an error message indicating "no pages selected to print" even though it defaulted to Print All. I selected by one page, pages 1-5, etc. with no success. Windows 7 system.

Pat, that did not fix the problem. I still get the messages that the document cannot be printed and that no pages are selected; the print dialogue box shows that “all” pages are selected. I get the message even if I manually select “pages 1-7” etc. I tried deleting Adobe and reinstalling it but I get a 1311 message that seteup.exe cannot be located. I tried downloading just the Adobe Reader printer drivers from your site and get a message saying that the download was not successful. Please help.

I am running Lion on an '08 Macbook, should I update to Mavericks?

As I said, I'm running 10.7.5 on an '08 MacBook, with a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. Would you recommend I update to Mavericks?

Upgrading to Mavericks
You can upgrade to Mavericks from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mavericks can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
Upgrading to Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Mavericks from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mavericks is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

Note you must have the Late 2008 aluminum model to install Mavericks. If you are happy with Lion then there's no need to upgrade unless you want to or need features only available in Mavericks.

I am having problem with trying to install the printer with wireless connection.i have windows 7

the blue light on top of the printer blinks very fast and intermitenly. i cannot install the printer with wireless. I tried with the CD that came with the printer but the green install bar just stops and freezes. I have a 4 month old Dell laptop. Printer just purchased from HP is Laser Jet Professional P1102w.

Are there any third party firewalls installed (e.g. Kaspersky, Norton, BitDefender, etc.)? It sounds like something is blocking the software and third party firewalls have been known to block communication with the printer.
How far in the installation process do you get (what options are you able to get to)?
Is the USB cable connected at the start of the installation?
Do you receive any errors at all? If so, what are they?
Have you tried using Smart Install? Smart Install works by connecting the USB cable to the computer. By default, you should get a prompt to run a file. Running this file starts the Smart Install process.

I want to roll ff back to 3.0, 4.0 and up is taking up to much space to run. since i have updated to 5.0 the problem is killing my laptop and i liked how well 3.0 ran, it didnt max out my cpu like 4.0 and up does.

firefox is using up to 90% of my PCU on my laptop. I spend more time twiddling my thumbs waiting for things to load or i watch my laptop crash from over heating. I did not have this problem with 3.0 and would like to go back to it, how do I roll back firefox to 3.0 so my laptop doesnt burn up ? i run vista on my laptop.

In case your Firefox profile became damaged during the upgrade, or add-on is causing the problem, you could test whether a new blank Firefox profile cures those ills.

Once you are done connect the printer to your Mac or add it through the network under Printers & Scanners.
Scanning can be done via Printers & Scanners, Image Capture or Preview.

Macbook mid-2007 -- original OS shipped? Trying to run AHT.

What was it? I'm thinking 10.3 Panther, as I later upgraded to 10.4 Tiger.
Reason for the question: I'm trying to upgrade to 10.6 Sow Leopard, but that OS won't install. Ran Repair Permissions, trying to run Apple Hardware tests but no longer have the original OS disks that came with the machine. Apparently I need these to run this test? Other suggestions welcome.

Yes, you need the original discs to run the AHT on that model. You can purchase replacement discs from Apple.

As Sumit has mentioned above, this issue has been reported in java forums but no definite answers. Hence instead of waiting for replies, I would suggest to analyse the scenario. Start with a new Jdev workspace and create, run the helloworld example. If that works, move over to a create example which uses a EO as your error stack is showing the start of error as the EO source file. If this also works fine, then I can say that there is something wrong with the code setup you have done otherwise there is issue with the java installation.
