I have a Macbook Pro 15" which battery is dead. I've been trying to look for a replacement online on ebay and on amazon, and i have found several batteries that are similar, but i don't know which one is right and is compatible with my Macbook Pro. Is there any way to tell which battery is compatible with my Macbook Pro? Some of the ones i found have the correct model number and part number but has a different color. does the color make any difference?

I am currently in Bangkok right now. I wanted to buy the new Macbook Pro with retina display. I went to Power Buy in Central world and found out that the keyboard for the macs have thai characters as well as English ones. I wanted to buy a mac with plain English keyboard. The guy in the store said that is only possible if I buy online.
Is there anywhere or any store in Bangkok where I could get the new macbook pro with an english keyboard? Thanks.

My daughter will soon go for 1 year to the US. I would like to buy a MB pro or MB air for her. Since she will return after this year to Germany, I am looking for an opportunity to get a model with German keyboard layout. In the online store, only US, french and spanish are available.

I type German on the US keyboard all the time without having to switch keyboard layouts:
option-u followed by a u o (and other letters, too) gives you ä ü ö ï
option-s gives you ß
option-2 gives you €
You can even to French:
option-` followed by, for example e, gives you è
option-e followed by, for example e, gives you é
option-c gives you ç
option-i followed by e gives you ê
There are [many more such combinations|http://www.usingmac.com/2007/12/12/100-mac-keyboard-shortcuts-for- creating-symbols] that yield other special characters.
You can set up the built-in spell check to automatically detect what language you are writing in and you're set
Personally I find the US keyboard much nicer to work with. I'm sure your daughter will get used to it and your wallet will thank you.

Where can I buy a genuine apple replacement battery (A1309) for my Mid 2010 17" Macbook Pro? There are used batteries on ebay that don't appear genuine. There are some third-party knock offs. The apple store seems to believe they can replace it, but I have to make a reservation at the silly Genius Bar just to have them tell me how much it's gonna cost, not to mention then likely wait for them to order the battery and install it. I'm perfectly capable of installing it myself. I just need to know where I can order it?

Yeah, that's what I've finally decided. I was kidna super frustrated because the first apple store I called wouldn't even tell me a price or tell me if they could replace the battery without a Genius Bar appointment, and as I would have to take off work and drive acros town--and I don't have a car so I'd have to borrow one--that was pretty annoying. That call left me pricing linux laptops. I called another store to see if I'd have better luck, and the initial answer was the same, but the girl relented under some trying-to-be-nice-but-clearly-annoyed pressure, and she gave me the answers I needed: yes, they should have the battery in stock and it should be a same-day replacement that should cost $179.
It just *****, really, because there's so much about Apple that I used to love, and I'm watching it kinda melt away under their success in the mobile market. As a professional user, there's less and less reason to stick with them. Instead of being the best they can be, I feel like they're just trying to be flashier and just a little better than the other mediocre computer companies. Ugh. Anyway, now I'm ranting.

you have to go to Apple store online then you'll have to go to customize your MacBook Pro, there you choose Arabic keyboard, and it'll automatically contains both languages English and Arabic....... because the Latin letters must have for any computer to be used on email's website and etc. etc.

I don't think you can actually download the install DVD. If you call Apple they can send you the install DVD for a nominal fee +S&H. You will need to provide them with the serial number for your Mac to see if it's registered to you.

I went to an Apple Store, near my house. One of the employees showed me that she could not order it either (sorry, looks like it is really not an option within US).
She offered an alternative / fix: she could order a Portuguese wireless keyboard, that can be connected via Bluetooth.
