provide details - with what you have given us to work with the only suggestion is to fix the problem

What version of the OS (under Apple menu ==> about this Mac)?

  • Just updated to R2, 6 applications will not install anymore

    Hello,
I updated from SP1 CU3 to R2 CU1, and planning to goto CU2. Currently though I have a problem that the tasks to install applications aren't installing everything. The applications install just fine outside of the task sequence.
    These are the applications:
    Internet Explorer 10
    MDOP MBAM
    Proof Point
    VMWare Horizon View Client
    KB2526967
KB2975636 (This one is a package for MDOP which likely could be failing because MDOP MBAM is not installing)
I have rebuilt a couple of the applications and they still aren't being installed. I looked in the AppDiscovery and AppEnforce logs and cannot find reference to any of these during the task sequence. Here is the logs for both during OSD.

Unless someone knows of a Hotfix or an idea how to resolve this I will have to open a ticket with CSR, but would like to avoid that.
    Thanks for your time.

Not sure if this is what you are seeing:

The issue being described is different compared to what I am experiencing, but I guess ill move to CU4 tonight.

  • App Store icon show update for apps that i did not install.

Hi, i seriously jammed with my head, my appstore show that there an update for this angry bird icon, but when i checked, i did not install any angry bird games on my macbook. how do i resolve this?

It's quite likely that your son is making in-app purchases. Many free or inexpensive games offer additional features - levels, coins, tools, weapons, etc. - that are purchased from within the game, and these purchases can be quite expensive or can add up very quickly. Check your Purchase History for your iTunes Store account; such purchases would be reflected there. If they are, then ask your son about this. There may be no fraud at all.
To prevent such unauthorized purchases from within an app, set the Restrictions on your son's iPhone to turn off In-App purchasing and, I'd recommend, to  the "immediate" setting for requiring a password for purchasing.
    Regards.

  • Your current updates are causing problems and will not install correctly how do we stop it

the security update you currently have causes problems with other software and does not install at all. Current corrections the entire pc has to be set back to a restore date to remove it

    Hi;
I apologize about your not being able to reply to my response in the Payments sub-forum, thanks for re-posting here.
I forwarded your issue to a Support team that will take care of it.  If you could send me a good contact phone # via email to [email protected] I will give that to the Support team so they have a few ways to contact you.  Please also include the AdobeID for both accounts so they know what all to look at.

  • After updating 6.1.2 Sim Card Not Installed

Hi, I updated my I phone 4 this morning and when I turned my phone back on it said "sim card not installed". It was totally fine before the update and I haven't had any issues before this. Please help

I use Skype fairly frequently. The rather appalling rate of dropped calls does not seem to have increased with the update. It also appears to be pretty much the same as the rate of dropped calls when using my MBA.

  • WSUS updates download to Client but do not Install immediately

    Hi All,
Need your help to understand and resolve below WSUS related issue?
Client workstation has been configured with below WSUS group polices.
We have more than 2000 workstation which are part of same OU and same WSUS group policy.
This workstations has customize windows XP and 7 OS and its use as cash counter pc like in Mall.
We found 60% workstation has been patched with latest update automatically and rest of not patches.
We have created script for which remove old
    C:\winnt\softwaredistribution folder and and run
    wuauclt.exe / detectnow command.
Now we can see patches are downloading on system but not Install immediately. In event viewer we
can see event 17 which say “
Installation Ready: The following updates are downloaded and ready for installation. To install the updates, an administrator should log on to this computer and Windows will prompt
with further instructions: “ As this all workstation has customize OS and use command service account for login.
Also no pop us for as notification and no chance to install patches by user.
What we can do to install patches immediately without modifying GPO policy.
Does 3 - Auto download and notify for install gpo setting prevent us to install patches immediately After running script.
What is main reason on patches not install on workstation.
What will happens if system down during schedule install time.
Why always 40% workstation display as 99% install in WSUS console even after patches with latest month update.
Please suggest any new way to make 100% workstation compliance with patch update.
    Windows Components/Windows Update Policy Setting
Allow Automatic Updates immediate installation Disable

Set the intranet statistics server: XYX

    @JJJdavidson...
Thanks for sharing this valuable information.
Request you to please check below comment with respect of your suggestion and please suggest.
As you say with automatic update set to option 3 computer will never automatically install update But what will happens if we configure schedule install date and time setting along with automatic update option 3.  Will it allow computer to install
update on given date or we have to configure this setting only with automatic update option 4.
Is it true that with automatic update option 3 computer only download update and user attention require to install update on computer.
As I say.. our workstations are customize with windows xp and 7 and it wont any user to install update.
No doubt on point number 4.
With respect of your explanation in point 5. Please suggest on below point.
On which condition system will decide whether approve patches are applicable or not.
If any workstation are newly format then will it download all approve patches for that workstation.
With respect of above question.  If I format windows 7 workstation and in WSUS 100 patches has been approved since last year. Will it go and download all patches. In same case what will happens if any patches are replace with other patches .
I am asking all above request because i am majorly facing issue with 99% system status in WSUS and want to resolve this.

  • HT3204 I have updated iTunes and now it will not recognise my iPhone 4 even though Windows 8 recognises it? HELP

How do I get my updated iTunes to recognise my iPhone as it did before?

I spent last week looking for a solution to that little yellow "!" needle haystack....
It is probably buried where nothing can touch or change it other than what I resorted to and would have saved time, clean install after I made sure to have two backup sets: Windows Easy Transfer plus Paragon clone OS and partitions to drive. Had to spend a full day reinstalling, updates, etc. Careful not to bring back any prefs or data that might be corrupt or wrong.
10.5 and iOS 5 on new iPod 4G works much better though and as they should and no issues like I had with AMS or other services or needing to restart first before launching iTunes.

  • Update 2015-003 1.0 does not install..

    Hello ;
Well, I see that there is an update to Yosemite (2015-003 1.0) and therefore I click "reboot" and the update is stuck halfway, nothing happens even after a long long time, even overnight..
I have to turn off the mac and turn, tried many times the shift but the problem remains, it remains blocked to " about 1 minute".
You also have this problem with this update ?
Note that I tried to install the update "OSXUpdCombo10.10.2" but I have this error message :
" Combined Updater OS X can not be installed on this disk. // This volume does not meet the requirements for this update. "
I have not yet changed anything on my computer, at least not that I know.
    Thank you friends ..
    Domenico

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.10 ("Yosemite"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

  • After update Application manager shows app as not installed

    Hi,
I've installed almost all creative cloud apps since day one and everything is ok.
But, after the last Adobe application manager update, I see "install" beside each app in application manager. I installed two apps after the update (lightroom and acrobat x) and these two are correctly displayed as "installed" (launch application button is now displayed).
This is not a big issue for me, but I'm wondering if this affects the automatic updates procedure. If the updater checks which apps are installed, he knows that I installed also the other apps or it will check only for Lightroom and Acrobat x (the two marked as "installed" in app manager)?
    Thanks
    Andy

I'm having the exact same issue, and was also concerned about whether it would affect it showing me updates for my "installed" programs.

  • IMac G5 stops updating at 10.4.10, will not install any newer update/itunes

My first post, let's make it a good one. I have two macs so I fell behind on updating this iMac due to a poor iternet connection. Now that I have a solid internet connection, I can't update it!
    About my iMac:
    Machine Name: iMac G5
    Machine Model: PowerMac12,1
    CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (3.1)
    Number Of CPUs: 1
    CPU Speed: 2.1 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
    Memory: 512 MB
    Bus Speed: 700 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: 5.2.6f1
    Macintosh HD:
    Capacity: 233.64 GB
    Available: 174.74 GB
Everything I find just seems to go womp, womp, woommppp in my face. I have verified and repaired both the disk & permissions, cleaned up cache files, validated preference files... all to no avail.
Please help, what can I do to install 10.4.11? I believe I am behind on updating my airport as well. Probably everything that could be updated. DEFINTELY security updates.

Hi urboyruru and welcome to the forums!
The following is a general guide to safe updating, so some of it may be redundant for you, but as we have the same model iMac I feel qualified to speak!
I would install the 10.4.11 combo updater first, then all the others. Note: just do one update at a time.
There are no guarantees, but following this procedure when installing updates and upgrades on your Mac, or even re-installing them, will go a long way towards avoiding unpleasant after effects and ‘post-update stress disorder’.
It is also worth noting that it is an extreme rarity for updates to cause upsets to your system, as they have all been extensively beta-tested, but they may well reveal pre-existing ones, particularly those of which you may have been unaware. If you are actually aware of any glitches, make sure they are fixed before proceeding further.
So before you do anything else:
If you can, make a full backup first.
Turn off sleep mode for both screen and hard disk.
Disconnect all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
    1. Repair Permissions (in Disk Utility)
    2. Verify the state of your hard disk using Disk Utility. If any faults are reported, restart from your install disk (holding down the C key), go to Disk Utility, and repair your startup disk. Restart again to get back to your startup disk.
At least you can now be reasonably certain that your system does not contain any obvious faults that might cause an update/upgrade to fail.
    3. Download the correct version of the COMBO update from the Apple download site. If your car runs on gasoline you would not want to fill the tank with diesel, so don’t try to install the PPC updater on an Intel Mac!
The 10.4.11 Combo Updater for PPC Macs is here: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx10411comboupdat eppc.html
And for Intel Macs: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx10411comboupdat eintel.html
If you prefer to download updates via Software Update in the Apple menu (which would ensure that the correct version for your Mac was being downloaded), it is not recommended to allow SU to install major (or even minor) updates automatically. Set Software Update to just download the updater without immediately installing it. There is always the possibility that the combined download and install (which can be a lengthy process) might be interrupted by a power outage or your cat walking across the keyboard, and an interrupted install will almost certainly cause havoc. Once it is downloaded, you can install at a time that suits you. You should make a backup copy of the updater on a CD in case you ever need a reinstall.
More information on using Software Updater here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1338
Using the Combo updater ensures that all system files changed since the original 10.4.0 are included, and any that may have been missed out or subsequently damaged will be repaired. The Delta updater, although a temptingly smaller download, only takes you from the previous version to the new one, i.e. for example from 10.4.10 to 10.4.11. Software Update will generally download the Delta updater only. The preferable Combo updater needs to be downloaded from Apple's download site.
    Now proceed as follows:
    4. Close all applications.
    5. Unplug all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
    6. Install the update/upgrade. Do not under any circumstances interrupt this procedure. Do not do anything else on your computer while it is installing. Be patient.
    7. When it ask for a restart to complete the installation, click restart. This can take longer than normal, there are probably thousands of files to overwrite and place in the correct location. Do nothing while this is going on.
    8. Once your Mac is awake, repair permissions again, and you should be good to go!
If your Mac seems slightly sluggish or ‘different’, perform a second restart. It can’t hurt and is sometimes efficacious!
    9. Open a few of your most used applications and check that all is OK. In this connection please remember that not all manufacturers of third party applications and plug-ins, add-ons, haxies etc, will have had time to do any necessary rewrites to their software to make them compliant with the latest version of your operating system. Give them a weeks or two while you regularly check their websites for updates. This applies particularly to plug-ins for Safari 3.
N.B. Do not attempt to install two different updates at the same time as each may have different routines and requirements. Follow the above recommendations for each update in turn.
Lastly, Apple's own article on the subject of Software Update may also be useful reading:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106695
If you are updating Safari (or just have):
Input Managers from third parties can do as much harm as good. They use a security loophole to reach right into your applications' code and change that code as the application starts up. If you have installed an OS update and Safari is crashing, the very first thing to do is clear out your InputManagers folders (both in your own Library and in the top-level /Library), log out and log back in, and try again.
So, disable all third party add-ons before updating Safari, as they may not have been updated yet for the new version. Add them back one by one. If something goes awry, remove it again and check on the software manufacturer's website for news of an update to match your version of Safari. Remember: Tiger up to 10.4.10 used Safari 2.0.4 or, if you downloaded it, Safari 3.0.3 beta. Safari 10.4.11 used Safari 3.0.4 which was not a beta. If Safari 3.1.2 on 10.4.11 is not the fastest browser you have ever used, then something is wrong!
Moreover, trying to revert to Safari 3.0.4 (or worse still, version 2) when running 10.4.11 or 10.5 can have repercussions, as Safari 3.1.1 uses a completely different webkit on which other applications like iChat, Mail and Dashboard Widgets etc also rely, and may entail you having to reinstall an earlier operating system.
Most errors reported here after an update are due to an unrepaired or undetected inherent fault in the system, and/or a third party ad-on. Two such add-on that have been frequently mentioned here for causing such problems are Piclens and Pithhelmet. If you have them, trash them.
Additional tips on software installation here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106692
To reiterate, Input Managers reach right into an application and alter its code. This puts the behavior of the affected application outside the control and responsibility of its developers: a recipe for problems. That's not to say that issues absolutely will ensue as a result of Input Managers, but you, as a user, must decide. If the functionality of a specific Input Manager or set thereof is really important to you, you may well choose to assume the associated risk.
Again, the advice is to remove all Input Managers from the following directories:
    • /Library/InputManagers
    • ~/Library/InputManagers
especially prior to system updates (they can always be added back one-by-one later).

I cannot install firmware update for HP Photosmart 5514

    Hi,
What version of firmware is your printer currently running? The easiest way to find that is to go to the Wrench icon->Tools and then print out a printer status report.
How were you trying to install the update for the printer? With the User interface on the printer or with the downloadable software.
What error message do you get when it tries to install the update?

So I install mavericks and now there's an SMC update 1.2 for Retina Macbook Pros. I have the 15 inch  2.7/16gb/500 version.
However, when i download the update, and restarts, it just hangs on the gray screen and sometimes it has the 'SoftwareUpdateLauncher' on the menu bar. And it stays there forever. I've tried waiting, but isn't an hour too long to install a > 300kb update?
Very annoying! I've never had a problem with updating before. Also, after this is done, SoftwareUpdatelauncher keeps on popping up and also freezes and i have to do a hard reset again. HELP!
How can i just install this SMC update?

You have version 1.41f2. You cannot upgrade to a lower version - 1.33f8.

I have uploaded the report to: http://www.mediafire.com/?1nb7v5dc1hodgf8

Reviewing the preceding posts, I saw the suggestion to remove a java folder in c:"Program Files ..."
Imagine my surprise to discover that there was such a folder on my system after my uninstalls of java using Revo Uninstaller.
There were also java executables in the windows, System32, SysWOW64 subfolders.
After I again uninstalled the jdk 64 bit, I deleted all folders that seemed to contain java
When I reinstalled jdk 64 update 24 to c:\s\java, I was again not asked where to install the jre.
Inspecting the folder tree at c:\s\java I can see c:\s\java\jre but no folder c:\s\java\jre6
However, after this install I am able to execute the java command without seeing an error.
I don't think I'm fully functional yet because an attempt to start eclipse 3.6 (Helios) gives an immediate error windows "Failed to load the JNI shared library "c:\s\java\bin\..\jre\bin\server\jvm.dll"
Since the file c:\s\jre\server\jvm.dll does exist, I'll try re-installing eclipse.
