  • Why do I get "Secure Link to iTunes store Failed" message when trying to access iTunes store?

Why do I get the message "Secure Link to iTunes store failed" when I do diagnostics checks on the iTunes version 10.6 that I just installed?  I have reinstalled it three times and have never been able to access the itunes store, or any Help sites thru the itunes app.  I have disabled my firewall, etc. to no avail.  Any ideas?  I have XP running.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • HT3204 I got a reading of "secure link to iTunes store failed" when I ran a diagnostic "network connectivity" test. What's wrong and how do I fix it? I am indeed unable to connect to the store.

Can anyone help me figure out what's wrong when I try to connect to the iTunes store? I got a message "secure link to iTunes store failed" when I ran a diagnostic "network connectivity" text. What's wrong?
Thanks for any help you can give me!

With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:
Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
(If there's a SpeedBit LSP showing up in Autoruns, it's usually best to just uninstall your SpeedBit Video Accelerator.)

  • HT3204 When doing a "Network Connectivity Test" on my PC, as to iStore Connectivity, it says "Secure Link to iTunes Store failed". And when trying to "authorize" my computer to sync ringtones I downloaded to my PC, I keep getting an errot message.

When doing a "Network Connectivity Test" on my PC, while in iTunes, it tells me that "Secure Link to iTunes Store Failed", yet I'm connected to the internet.  I was unable to "authorize" my PC with an error message, as well, giving me the code (-3212), saying I was not connected to the internet, yet I am.  I can open browser after browser, and navigate just fine.  In going through the iTunes Help menu, I am running the tests offered in the drop-downs, but I keep getting the afore-mentioned errors.

With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:

  • Secure link to itunes store failed computer not connected to internet tried ununininstalling everything to do with itunes no joy also error code coming up E0000225 anybody out there got any ideas

Secure link to itunes store failed, (computer not connected to internet tried uninstalling everything to do with itunes,no joy also errror code E0000225 appearing. Have turned off windows firewall and also my Bullguarg security settings. Can anybody out there please help me thanks.

    Hi,
You could be right that the response to clicking on help is a symptom of an entirely separate issue, but nevertheless the secure link to itunes is definitely failed, and I am unable to log into Itunes on either PC.
I also noticed that even if I click on the link to create a whole new Apple ID, I cannot do that either, presumably because the secure link is not working.
After I noticed that there were weird things happening this morning, I did change my Apple ID password in the hope that this might resolve it, but it seemed to make it worse.  Now, all of my apple devices keep constantly prompting me for the apple ID password, and randomly either accepting it, or telling me it is wrong.  I know the password is correct because I can log onto the apple Manage My Apple ID screens in a web browser with it.
I was starting to think that this is an ISP issue (BT Broadband), but I have not seen anyone else posting with the same issue.  Does Apple use a different security protocol to everyone else?  I'm asking because all other secure services seem to be working fine, but anything related to apple that requires a secure connection or authentication is having issues.
I have also seen reference to making sure that Itunes is listed as an allowed program in Windows Firewall.  I cannot seem to do this because it says that my Windows firewall is being managed by McCafee.  I have checked the settings in McCafee, and it appears to me that Itunes, Bonjour, and many other apple programs have been granted "Full" access.  As said before in any case I have tried temporarily disabling the firewall and even this did not solve the problem.

  • ITunes 64-bit runs 32-bit, Secure link to iTunes Store failed, and SyncMapiInterfaceHelper_x64 crashes every time I click 'Info' tab in an iDevice.

    Hello everyone,
There are 3 issues I have, as it reads in the title.
    1) I am running iTunes on a Win7 64-bit ThinkPad, and iTunes shows up as a 32-bit application in the Task Manager, always. I tried even the complete uninstalling (after removing Bonjour, Apple Mobile Service, deleting the folders, etc.) and yet, it shows up the same way.
    2) When I run diagnostics, it says 'Secure link to iTunes Store failed'. I've tried many things from whatever I've read in the forums and nothing seems to be changing that.
    3) Every time I click the 'Info' tab on any iDevice (I tried it with a 3GS and a iPod Touch), I get a 'SyncMapiInterfaceHelper_x64 has stopped working' message thrice. I don't know the significance of thrice but it just does come.
    I hope someone helps.
    Thanks!

That one's normal. On 64-bit systems, iTunes is a mix of 32-bit and 64-bit componentry. The itunes.exe is 32-bit.
    Oh, okay. Thanks!
Could you walk us through what happens when you try to connect to the Store, please?
The issue is when I run diagnostics. I happened to run it last night while updating my 3GS to iOS 6, and there was a 3194, and a search to solve that, led me to running the diagnostic.
I was wondering how it affects me because I haven't faced any issue in downloading or browsing the AppStore. The transcript of the 'Run diagnostics', for networks is as below:

  • HT203163 I am not able to access to iphone updates/store; as secure link to itunes store failed. I tried to turn firewall off, reinstall itunes and other troubleshoot options but none of them works.....

I am not able to access to iphone updates/store; it displays the message under diagnostics 'secure link to itunes store failed'.
I tried to turn firewall off, reinstall itunes and other troubleshoot options but none of them works......
    Please help.

Update:  I tried the "Toshiba Recovery Wizard" after everything else either fizzled out or hung up. After going all the way thru the recovery process (up to 100%), I finally got an error message.....it didn't work. And now, when I fire up the computer, I don't even get to that menu with the recovery options....the only thing I can boot into is the screens with the various ways to run your OS (in "safe mode", "safe mode with networking", etc).
I'm not a techie, but I'm guessing at this point, the part of my hard drive that got damaged in the fall was, at the very least, the partition with the recovery data. Couple that with the fact that this cheapo Toshiba laptop didn't even come with recovery disk (or ANY kind of disk, even basic installation software!), I'm screwed: I don't see any way to get a workable computer now without some kind of disk to boot from. So NOW my concern is more about spending the $$ for a new OS and THEN finding out the hard drive has other problems too...is broken in some other way to boot.
How to check this? As I said, I did run "chkdsk" back when I could get into the recovery menu and run the fix-it programs. It didn't note any problems. Thinking of taking this opportunity to upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista (which I never liked), but I have to know that the computer is otherwise ok....how to be sure?

  • Secure link to itunes store failed windows 7

I have internet access as I just finished downloading and installing iTunes but I cannot get to the store through it

I was having this issue for a while also.  The only way I could get access to the iTunes store was to run the diagnostic test, and then click cancel on the dialogue box where it told me "secure link to iTunes store failed". By canceling the diagnostic box the store would load, but I'd have to do that everytime I wanted to access the store.
I tried doing what wiclee suggested however it never worked.
I was also having trouble in the store actually loading.  It would take forever, if it ever would load and always, the genius setting was trying to send information to Apple about my library  but always froze at like 3% or so.
I went looking through my control panel thinking that maybe it was my firewall and after about three hours of searching through it all I came across a message that told me that iTunes had stopped working a few times - the dates were from decemeber 2012, but it also said that iTunes needed an update; evern though iTunes was telling me that it was up to date.
I clicked on the link that took me to the apple page on the net to download iTunes again, and in the dowload box it had either a 'repair' option or an 'uninstall' option.  I clicked on repair and let it do its thing and my itunes seems to work perfectly fine now.  My access to the store is a fast as a cheeter and I no longer have issues with genius getting stuck in sending data. Having said that however, I did only do this about ten minutes ago and haven't reset my computer yet.
If what wiclee suggested worked thats great, but if you ever have any issues with it again, maybe try repairing your itunes.

  • TS1424 Secure Link to iTunes Store failed, and when I click on Help, the help box is blank.  I have a 25Mbit up and down. 64 bit PC running window 7 home premium

Secure Link to iTunes Store Failed.  When I click on the help button to the right, and the new help window pops up, it is blank with zero infomation on how to correct the "Secure Link to iTunes Store"

  • Error: "Secure link to iTunes Store failed"

When I tried to restore my ipod, I get the error 3194. Therefore I ran the iTunes Diagnostics for Network connectivity and I got "Secure link to iTunes Store failed", but I am able to log into my itunes account through itunes store.
I checked my date/time settings and its configured correctly. Also I checked both SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0 and still I get this error. My PC is running Windows 7 64-bit.
Please help me to fix this!!!

Hi, all of a sudden I couldn't connect to the IStore. Finally, last night I found a fix in the community & it worked. I just did a diagnostic, because now Ping doesn't load. All but 1 test passed. It said, secure link to iTunes Store failed. I saw something about Enable ITunes in the Windows Firewall
Enable iTunes in the Windows Firewall
When the firewall in Windows is enabled, it may prevent iTunes from accessing the Internet unless iTunes is listed as an exception.
    Hide
To make sure that your Windows 7 or Vista firewall isn’t blocking iTunes:
Click Start, and click Control Panel.
Click System and Security, and click Windows Firewall.
    Click “Advanced settings.”
Click Inbound Rules (below “View and create firewall rules”).
Click New Rule (on the right side of the window).
In the window that appears, choose Program, and click Next.
Choose “This program path,” and click Browse.
Navigate to Program Files > iTunes, and click Open.
Select iTunes, click Open, and click Next.
Select when the rule applies, and click Next.
Type a name for the rule, and click Finish.
I got all the way to #8, Navigate to Program Files > iTunes, and click Open. When I click open, instead of seeing iTunes, I see iTunesMiniPlayer.Resources, I don't see next. So where is iTunes? I'm getting so frustrated with iTunes working one day, then not working the next UGH!!!! Now what any ideas? I'm using Windows 7.

  • Secure link to iTunes Store failed: HELP!

I'm new to iTunes and purchased my first iPod yesterday night. The first time I plugged in my iPod to sync it, I wasn't able to. At first I had version 10 then it updated. On the previous version I was able to access the iTunes store but wasn't able to sync my iPod. I had downloaded the most recent version of iTunes (10.1) and then this problem occured.
"iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. The network connection timed out. Please make sure that the network settings are correct and that your netowrk is connected, then try again."
I've read several different manuals and emailed Apple about it. I've tried a lot of different things to fix it.
    +-change firewall settings+
    +-redownloaded iTunes+
    +-contacted Apple Tech Support+
    +-changed proxy settings+
    +-changed permissions+
    +-disabled firewall+
    +-restarting iTunes+
    +-restarting router+
And several others. Nothing seems to work. I ran a diagnostic review and this is what came up.

What do I do? Any information and suggestions would be very helpful.

i found a solution that worked in my case..i found it in this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2284692?start=0&tstart=0 in texlark's post..i copied and pasted it here:
The Fix (& It's NOT Your Firewall)
    A. Symptoms
When you try to connect to the iTunes Store you may receive the alert message "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occured (-9808). There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later."
    B. Resolution
Check your computer's date, time, and time zone. Set the correct date, time, and time zone if needed. If your computer's date, time, and time zone are all correct and you still see this alert message, this issue can be resolved by modifying certain settings in the Internet Options control panel:
    1) Go to the Start menu and choose Control Panel.
    2) Select Internet Options.
Note: If you are using Windows Vista you may need to select Classic View on the left before you can see Internet Options.
Note: If you are using WIndows 7 you may need to change "View by" to either Large icons or Small icons before you can see Internet Options.
    3) Click the Advanced tab.
    4) In the Settings box, scroll down to the Security section.
    5) Deselect the option to "Check for server certificate revocation (requires restart)."
    6) Select the options for "SSL 3.0" and "TLS 1.0."
    7) Apply the changes and restart your computer.
