HT3205 My adapter plug light is orange - won't stay green to charge the battery. What is the cause?

My adapter light does not stay green to indicate the macbook is charging. The light turns from green to orange after about 5 seconds. Why is my battery not charging?

Problems solved: Fans blowing with no activity, machine is not booting, power button pressed and nothing happens, problems with indicators, Magsafe has wrong lights, battery is not charging, monitor and graphics issues etc. If the battery is not charged (from like letting it sleep too long), let the Mac charge up awhile afterwards.
Will not hurt the machine resetting if it's not broken.
Other related hardware problems (optional):
Check battery status: Hold option/alt key down while clicking on the battery icon in the menu bar, top right corner.
Magsafe: Use the correct/matching power supply charger with your Mac, not a less powered one from another Mac.

So basically it wasn't charging for that entire half hour. Then, I tried connecting it to my computer and nothing is popping up... so it won't turn on or charge... what do i do?

Who repaired the phone? I suggest taking it back to this repair facility. Since Apple replaces phones instead of repair, the repair facility would be the one to take care of your problem.

Dv9000 Adapter plug glows but laptop won't turn on - after I replaced motherboard

So I tried installing a replacement motherboard myself on my dv9700. Apparently I'm not the only one with this problem. Anyhoo, I got the old one out after much stress and got the new one hooked up to the power and connected all the cables and tried to get a BIOS boot. The lights, fan, and optical drive all came on for a second, then shut off, then came back on but no BIOS, so I manually shut it off after a half minute or so. Then I thought getting the OS drive connected might do the trick. No such luck - in fact now the computer won't power. I tried putting the old motherboard back - same luck. My IT friend came over and noted (and I know this sounds idiotic on my part) that I hadn't swapped the CPU and the heat sink onto the new motherboard. We moved them onto the new motherboard but still no joy. The adapter glows at the connection but obviously the power is not flowing to the rest of the laptop. I know I'm a bit hardheaded to try to attempt this myself but what's done is done. I'm wondering if any of you kind non-flaming souls could tell me what the problem might be. My IT buddy thinks that there might be a short somewhere but that he downplayed my worst fears that I fried the new motherboard since the computer was only on for seconds at a time.
Please help if you can with any ideas of what the cause might be - I'm probably taking it to another repair shop in a day or two but I'd like to be armed with some ideas. Thanks!

No flames but it is not looking good. I have done dv6000 and dv9000 motherboards and I rank them as about the hardest laptop repairs I have done. Not for the newbie. Trying to power on a board with no CPU and fan in place should not have fried it in and of itself but the fact that you did that makes me question the entire technique you used. One screw in the wrong place or one touch at the wrong time CAN fry it.

Contacts photos won't stay where you set the pic

Hey I'm on a iPhone 6 plus ios8 and every time I set a contact photo to a specific place on the photo and hit done the circle always centers itself on the photo when save and won't stay on the part of the photo I choose. Does anyone have a fix or any input on this??? Would definitsly appr it.

Thanks for the idea John, but no go. I was talking about the iPhoto Trash. I moved the photos I wanted to delete there and then emptied the Trash.
Per your suggestion I moved the "com.apple.iPhoto.plist" from Preferences to Mac Trash (didn't empty Mac Trash because I was afraid I would lose the entire Library). When I copied the album to a new folder on my hard drive the photo I thought I had deleted re appeared. I put "com.apple.iPhoto.plist" back into Preferences just to play it safe.
Any other ideas on where the little buggers might be hiding and how I can get rid of them?

IPad won't stay off when charging

When I plug my iPad into an AC outlet and start charging it and then try to shut it down it restarts itself. Is this correct behavior? Every night when I charge my iPhone I turn it off once I've connected to the outlet and it stays off while being charged.
If this behavior is normal I'm curious as to why.

Whether the iPad's asleep or completely off, plugging in the charger will either turn it on immediately (if it was asleep) or reboot it to the same initial "Slide to unlock" screen. It is meant to confirm that the charger is actually working and is definitely intended behavior. If it didn't do this then you'd never be certain that the thing is actually charging. It will go back to sleep after the time you set to lock in the Settings under Auto Lock, unless you set that to "Never" in which case it will stay on until you turn it off.

I just bought a new external monitor (ASUS), and I have DVI adapter plug. When I connect it with my Macbook pro - the monitor remain black (even tho it is 'on')

But the external monitor remain black… so I turn it off then turn it back on, it said "No VGA signal". Does it means I have to use VGA adapter instead? I am not sure how it work, I am very new to it… I hope you can help me out!

Jst got new computer and want to make it my main i-tunes for i-pod. It shows up when plugged in but it won't stay in the computers music library so when unplugged theres no music. Does it have to do with homesharing? How do I move orig stuff to new comp?

When I plug in my i-pod mine shows up, but my music and all my previous purchases aren't in the new computer so when I unplug my i-pod everything goes away and there is nothing. Pismo won't boot, can't find the cause

I have a Pismo 500 that won't boot and I've torn this thing apart more times than I'd care to count and replaced every part I can think of. When I first got it it was working fine, but occasionally wouldn't boot properly or wake from sleep. When it wouldn't boot, I would press the power button and there'd be no chime, the fans would not spin up, and there was no sign of life other than the Num Lock or Caps Lock keys lighting up if pressed. What was an occasional thing is now permanent; it does this all the time now.
I have replaced the logic board, the PMU board, the AC/Sound board, and the PRAM battery. It continues to do exactly the same thing. It does this whether the PRAM battery is plugged in or not, so I have no way of knowing if the "New" replacement battery I got off eBay is actually any good or not.
Any help on this matter would be immensely appreciated as I would really love to get this unit working after the time and money put into it. Thank you.

I take from your post that you can get the Pismo running...it is not totally dead. When up and running, open the System Profiler and see if it reports the presence of your 1MB backside L2 cache; failed L2 cache can cause no-starts.
Also, if you had a bootable 9.x CD, a cold start will present a dialogue box indicating a problem with RAM or cache memory if this is the case; this test does not run through a restart.
You can test the health of your backup battery although it is unrelated to your startup problems as you have verified:

The only component left to replace is the microprocessor card. These do go bad plus it also contains the backside L2 cache.
If you have both memory slots filled, test each memory module separately.

My iphone won't stay on, even with the battery at 100%.

My iphone 3gs keeps dying. It won't synch or be recognised by the computer. I spent the whole day yesterday trying and eventually it did restore and stayed on for a few hours but has died again, despite the battery being at 98%. Short answer is you probably cannot. Once water gets inside the device and it is powered on, the damage likely is permanant.

My screen dims and shrinks with a blue outline around the window. It won't let me do anything unless it goes back to normal, but it won't stay that way for long. What is wrong and how do I fix it?

When I start up my screen will rapidly shrink to a smaller size with a blue border around the window. It rapidly goes from full screen to this smaller screen with the blue border and back again. I have AT&T DSL with the 2wire wireless connected directly to the dsl line. There is no base computer. I owned a netbook prior to this and had several people use there pc laptops wirelessly before. Now I can't seem to get my Mac to stay connected wirelessly. My iPhone 4, touch and satalite still maintain perfect wireless connection as they did before. I called apple , they said it was my internet, I called AT&T they said it was the Mac. I have a similar post on AT&T, hopefully someone can help! This is NOT how I wanted my first Mac experience to go!!! It is vital I stay connected because I remote in to work constantly and can not be interrupted. Someone PLEASE help!!

When I try and use my CAC (Oberthur V5.2) in Lion, it tells me to insert my CAC card. It is in and the green light on my SCR331 is flashing green. Any ideas on what's going on?

After Organizing my bookmarks, they won't stay sorted after closing the library

Firefox version 3.6.12
Went to 'organize bookmark library' and pulled down the 'view' menu
Selected the 'Bookmarks Menu' on right
Pulled down 'views', selected 'sort, the 'sort by name'
all the bookmarks sorted alphabetically as I wanted...
Closed the Library, pulled down the Bookmarks menu, and the bookmark were unsorted as if I never organized them

Sorting in the Library is a temporary sort, it resets as soon as you close the Library window.
