    Hey ludhfneiu,
Thanks for the question. If you were unable to redeem your rental, or never had the chance to watch it, please report an issue with your purchase:

  • Why can't I rent a movie from iTunes on my Macbook Pro?

I am trying to rent a movie from iTunes on my Macbook Pro but when I click on the gray rent movie button it does NOTHING, like I never clicked on it.  I am signed in, I authorized the computer and have rented movies in the past.   I do have OS X 10.5.8 and iTunes 10.6.3(25) because I haven't purchased new software to upgrade something that works just fine, until now. I'm not sure if the software is the problem because I have rented movies in the past 6 months. I have just tried to purchase other movies, and even songs, and it doesn't do anything when I click the gray price to purchase the song.  Please help.

Same exact thing just started happening to me. Same issues as you. I have tried restarting itunes and reinstalling many times with no luck at all.

  • HT3209 Why can I not download HD movie rental?

I use a 2012 Mac Mini with a 60 inch Panasonic Plasma TV and when I try and rent an HD movie it will iTunes gives me a message saying it is not compatible.  How much more compatible does it need to be?  This is very very bad service.  Ever since iTunes has updated its become a joke.  Apple, don't you test this stuff out? Obviously not!  I actually want my money back for my SD rentals.  This MUST BE FIXED!!

Tried twice to purchase HD movie rental and was only allowed SD. It makes no **** sense at all. Not to mention the new version of iTunes is really poorly designed hence the issues like this as well as others.
Apple is definitely not paying attention nor are they properly testing for these changes. They have become too clever for their own good.  I don't mind change but test it first. This is not MS and these are not beta versions.
The list of these issues seem to be mounting. I am really getting over all of these perpetuating issues with Apple.
I still have no understanding or reason as to why I cannot purchase a HD movie rental on my 2012 Mac mini.

  • HT201364 why can't i download this I have a brand new MacBook

I have a brand new mac and says I dont have the requirements

Your "brand new" machine actually has a newer build of Mavericks than the version available on the App Store.  So you can't use the version available in the App Store, as it doesn't include the drivers for your new Retina MacBook Pro.
If you need to re-install the OS, you can boot into the recovery partition and re-install the OS, so you can get Mavericks that way if you really need it.

Probably because the copyright owners won't allow rentals in your country.

If the movies show up with a Cloud symbol or if they will not delete when you hit the edit button (or the edit button is not there), go to Settings > Videos > Turn off 'Show All Videos'

  • I'm being shown an error pop-up message periodically saying "There was a problem connecting to the server. URLs with the type 'file:' are not supported." I have a brand new MacBook Pro, and at no time am I actually having trouble connecting to the server.

I'm being shown an error pop-up message periodically saying "There was a problem connecting to the server. URLs with the type 'file:' are not supported." I have a brand new MacBook Pro, and at no time am I actually having trouble connecting to the server, but this message continues to pop-up several times a day at random intervals. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or is my computer just having a glitch? Other than that, and a mildly sticking caps lock button, it's working perfectly.
    Thank you!

Alright it didn't solve it. Any other suggestions?
I haven't suggested a solution yet. I want to know whether you still get the messages while Time Machine is disabled. Do you? If so, try any or all of the solutions proposed in this thread:

Why can I not use my gmail account calendar on my MAC, when I try to sync it, it says "secure connection cannot be established" Is there a setting I don't know about?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • HT3209 why can't I rent an HD movie on my Mac Pro Retina

What is a Pro Retina for if I can't rent HD movies from iTunes?

It worked for me by going to System Preferences, Display, and changing from "Best for Retina Display" to "Scaled" then moving the slider all of the way to the right (more space). Evidently, the native resolution for Best for Retina Display is not truly HD, but it can be adjusted to an HD standard.

  • HT1657 Why can't we rent certain movies, such as warhorse, or money ball??  They are already out on DVD... will we ever be able to rent them?

Just wondering why we can't rent certain movies off ITunes store, when those movies are already out on DVD - will we ever be able to rent them?

Apple needs to have permission from the copyright holder to make them available.

  • Why can't I rent/buy movies with MA or R rating?

It appears that whenever I try to rent/buy movies from iTunes Store via Apple TV or iTunes with a rating of PG, M, they work fine, but if the movie is rated MA I get error message - Can't connect to Store. Try again later. For a 35 year old man I find this censorship frustrating. Can someone shed some light on this for me? Maybe there is a parental control setting I need to change?

This is happening to me too.
It seems pretty random, I've found a few movies I can rent, but most come up with the same error message you've seen. The movie rating doesn't seem to be a factor for me.
I've checked parental controls as suggested, rebooted, made sure software is up to date etc. I even waved a dead chicken. Just kidding. Something is broken with the iTunes store methinks.

  • HT201366 Why can I not drag a .mov file from a Download onto my Mac timeline or in a exteral hard drive?

I received a .mov file along with an option to download the footage. For some reason, I can't open the .mov file???
    Any ideas why I can't?
    Thank you.
    Stu Ross

Are you getting any error messages?  What do they say?  Exactly what occurs when you try to open the .mov file?
Which app & version are you trying to use to open the .mov file?  If QT, which one, vX or v7.x which is located inside your Utility folder?
    Per your system profile:
    Mac OS X (10.5.7)
    Please correct.
