HT3228 Mail on multiple devices. Need to sync action for messages.

I get mail on multiple devices. I find myself doing everything (delete, move, read ) on each device for each message. I need all to sync. In other words if I delete a message when reading mail on my iPhone, if I then look at mail on my iPad the message should not appear.

Is your email account POP3 or IMAP? If POP3, does your provider
support IMAP? An IMAP account will do what you want, POP3 does
not.
The problem you have and the resolution are a function of the type of
email account you are using and not the device you connect with. Set
your email up as IMAP (if possible) and your problem will go away.
If you are using a POP3 account and cannot set it up as IMAP because
the provider does not offer IMAP, consider setting that account to
automatically forward all email to an IMAP account (Gmail is one, there
are many others) and work from the IMAP account. You should set the
POP3 account to automatically delete the emails after forwarding.

mail how do i set a read receipt for messages I send

    Hi Sunny
There's no built-in option, and the workaround is rather complex. I would advise against it, since "read receipts" are not a standard part of the email protocol, and most email clients cannot return receipts or have it turned off anyway.

  • E-mails on multiple devices

I receive e-mails on both my iPhone and iPad, however I must delete an e-mail on each device.  Is there a way to delete an e-mail on one device and it is automatically deleted on the other device?  Prior to a recent iPhone update, this worked perfectly, including deleted e-mails not appearing in my Outlook 2007 Inbox.

You would need IMAP access to your email to do what you want to do (sync email when using multiple devices). Comcast does not support IMAP accounts only POP. You could, as a work around, only access your email using their webmail interface from all devices. Then delete the email from webmail, which Comcast provides. The deleted email will not show up when you access webmail from another device. When using webmail your emails are not downloaded to your device but remain on the server so all devices can view the emails until deleted by you.

  • Deleting e-mail on multiple devices

I receive e-mail using the Mail program on my Mac book, iPad, and iPhone. After I read an e-mail and delete it, i have to go to all of my other devices and delete them too. Isn't there an easier way to delete read mail from all devices at once?

I guess I have a question along a similar line....this is what I would like to do.
I have a pop e-mail account........I also have a iMac, iPod Touch, and a iPad......I was hoping to sync e-mail along all devices. That is when I receive a e-mail and reply to it.....it shows that alone all devices....when I delete it.....it deletes it on all devices.....I receive on my iPad.....it shows up on other devices also.
By the sounds of it I need a IMAP account....is that right? Can I change from a POP account to an IMAP or is it up to my provider.
Same thing with my calender.....I make an appointment on my iPad and it adds it to all devices (or is this what mobile me is for?)
Sorry for these newbie questions but I am new to the Apple world.
Thanks for your time in reading this and for any and all replies!!

  • Multiple devices trouble sharing & syncing apps with iCloud

We have 2 iPods, 1 iPhone, a PC laptop and a PC all on the same iCloud Apple ID.  The iPhone and the two iPods each have their own Apple ID for making purchases.  The iPhone and one of the iPods are able to share apps purchased separately after the devices are sync'd in iTunes, but one of the iPods (which was originally using a different iTunes account but is now on the same iTunes account as the other iPod and the iPhone - maybe this is part of the problem?) can't seem to get any of the apps from the other two.  In iTunes, we can select the shared apps when this iPod is connected, but when we try to sync, nothing gets added.  Thoughts on what we might be doing wrong?
Also, I thought iCloud automatically shared apps among devices.  We have to sync the devices on iTunes to share the apps...is this how it is supposed to work?
Thanks so much for any help anyone can provide!!

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
It's unclear from your post whether you fully appreciate the difference between iCloud and iTunes. iCloud has nothing to do with iTunes and each account can use a separate ID, my first thought therefore would be that you may be using a different ID for this iPod. Check you are using the same ID for iTunes on the PC and iTunes on the iPod at settings > store.
Apps don't exactly sync between devices, they sync according to your settings in iTunes. They can however automatically download to a device when purchased on another, for this to occur, you need the automatic download option checked at settings > store.

  • Using mail on multiple devices

Hi, I get mail from two gmail accounts on three devices: iPad, iPhone, desktop. Is there a way to set it up so that when I delete mail from one device it deletes it from all three? I am going nuts with so many messages. Thanks for your help.

Use IMAP mail protocol.  Not POP.
IMAP keeps the email on the server, and the mail client just reads it from the server.
POP (especially gmail's POP) downloads the mail to your device, and gmail's POP keeps a copy as well, so that all your devices can download the mail, hence your need to delete from each device because each device has downloaded a copy.

  • Multiple devices -how to sync all to icloud and iphoto then delete from device

    Hello,
I have 2 ipads, an iphone and a macbook.  I want to be able to take pictures using whichever device and have all the pictures be stored in my iphoto on my macbook.  I have purchased plenty of icloud storage but want to make sure that all devices will all sync to the same place and if i were to delete photos on the the individual devices that they would be safely stored in icloud.  Also, if this is possible, will they automatically go into iphoto and what settings should i have?  I dont want the whole photo collection on each device only pics i take on it and have them all centrally stored (ideally in iphoto on the mac and in icloud).
i have iphone 5 running ios 8, ipad mini running ios 8 and ipad 2 running ios 8.  am planning to update to os x yosemite when available and will be using icloud drive on each.  i appreciate any help, i have been using icloud for a while but its a mystery to me how it all works and want to try and save memory on my devices but dont want to lose pictures in the process.  thanks!!

Until iCloud photo library is fully launched, and you are running OS X Yosemite with its new photos app, you won't be able to store your photos in iCloud and delete them from your devices.  At the present time, when you delete a photo from your device, it is also deleted from iCloud.
You can, however, take photos on your devices and have them automatically stream to iPhoto on your Mac, and saved to your iPhoto events.  You will need iPhoto '11 (9.5) on your Mac.  Then go to Settings>iCloud>Photos on your iOS devices and make sure My Photo Stream is turned on on your iOS devices (and iCloud Photo Sharing if you want to create shared albums).  On your Mac, make sure Photos is checked in System Preferences>iCloud, then launch iPhoto and go to iPhoto>Preferences>iCloud and make sure My Photo Stream is checked as well as Automatic Import (which causes your streamed photos to be saved to your iPhoto Events) as shown in the image below.  After that, any photos taken on your iOS devices will automatically be added to your photo stream (when they're connected to wifi with the camera app closed and at least 20% battery power remaining) and will automatically be saved in iPhoto when it's connected to the internet.

  • Mail stopped receiving mail on multiple devices??

I can no longer recieve emails on only one email address, that is on multiple devices. This email address has been operating perfectly fine for years. All of a sudden in the middle of the night, on four devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac Air and Power Mac) mail has stopped being downloaded.
    Things done and symthoms...
Check all settings on all devices - All Good! No error codes
Remove/Re-install on one of the devices. All emails load back in to about the same point as other devices.
Adjusted SSL settings (which worked perfectly fine).
Turned off WiFi - Using cell coverage
    Reset Airport Express
    Webmail is working perfectly fine
Other email accounts with same provider (Go Daddy) working perfectly fine.
    iMap Settings in place

I'm having the exact same issues.  I have about 10 different email addresses.  All have worked fine since I bought the Mac Pro.  As of yesterday, whenever I log into any WiFi netwrok - and networks that always worked in the past - I can't download emails from one of my addresses.  Same is true with the same email accounts on my iPhone.
Interestingly, when I tether my iPhone and use 3G (rather than WiFi) I'm able to send/recieve from this same address on my laptop AND iPhone!!
    APPLE - please advise!

Kindly help me in this as I am not able to find any thing from web.
    Regards,

    Hello,
I'm not sure you're taking the best approch.
Usually when you need to migrate ISU contracts into an ISU-CRM integrated system, you first migrate everything you need in ISU through the VERY powerful migration workbench available (transaction code EMIGALL), and then you replicate your data to CRM via INITIAL download.
That's definitely the strategy that will give you the best performance, and less work.
    Kind regards,
    Nicolas Busson.

  • Sync Mail between multiple devices

Can anyone help? I own a MacBook Pro, an iMac, an iPhone, and iPad. I have managed to sync mail between the iPhone and the iPad using Microsoft exchange, so that if I delete an e-mail on the phone or the iPad then it is deleted on the other.
However I can't sync the two computers in the same way, can anyone help and tell me how to sync Mail across all 4 units?
(I used Exchange because the e-mail account is a Hotmail account and I was told, that's the only way I can do it).
    Regards and thanks in advance.
    Colin

Microsoft publish the settings needed for Hotmail Imap, they work, use them.
    They are:
    For incoming connections:
    Server address: "imap-mail.outlook.com"
    Server port: "993"
    Encryption type: "SSL"
    For outgoing connections:
    Server address: "smtp-mail.outlook.com"
    Server port: "587"
Encryption type: "TLS" ("SSL" can be used if TLS is not an option)
