Ah, no.
The iPhoto application (all the windows and "works") is completely separate from the data (your pictures).
If you want to move an iPhoto Library (containing pictures), see Moving your iPhoto '11 Library or Moving your iPhoto '08 or earlier library, depending on what version of iPhoto you have.
But if you're trying to move it from one computer to another, there may be some permissions problems. That's why it's usually best to use either Setup Assistant or Migration Assistant to transfer an entire user account (and perhaps 3rd-party apps as well).
Please clarify exactly what you're trying to do, so we can be sure to give you accurate advice.

I got a new mac last week, then bought creative cloud. I wanted my plug ins from my old mac switched over, but the whole lot migrated over. My computer now has my old CS6 in it, and I want to get creative cloud back. Problem is I have different sign in id's and can't seem to access my creative cloud at all. Does anyone know how to resolve this?

Old Mac Pro with 7.0 iPhoto transferred selected photo albums to my iPad. New iMac with iPhoto 11.0 will not transfer photo albums to my iPad. Why not?

I just purchased the new iMac with the latest iPhoto. Transferred my iPhoto library from my old Mac Pro. Upgraded iPhoto app and then tried to transfer photo albums to my iPad. New iPhoto will not allow transfer of selected albums, while old iPhoto did allow me to sync my selected albums to my iPad. Am I doing something wrong?

I do not have Last 12 Months selected. I also do not have Events or Faces or any of those newer designations selected. I have literally thousands of photographs in iPhoto, which is why I keep the select, special few hundred or so I want on my iPhone in very specific albums. These are the albums I select to sync. However, not all of the photos in these albums are uploading to my iPhone. They were on my iPhone and synced perfectly fine until the switch to the new laptop this weekend. All files were migrated to the new laptop, and all files are there and viewable on iPhoto. Something is causing some of the photos not to sync. That is what I need assistance with....

You can export your bookmarks to an HTML file on your old computer, and them import that file on your new computer. The HTML file also is your backup, and if you open it into Word, you could save it as a DOC file if you prefer.

Trouble activating old CS Premium on new Win8.1 laptop

My old XP desktop crashed and died. Can't uninstall my CS Premium from 2003. Got a new Windows8.1 laptop. Software installs from CDs, but activation is "unsuccessful". Yes, I know the software is unsupported. No, I don't need the newer versions for what I do. (especially at the prices involved). I just want to install and activate the software I already own, which my new computer is perfectly able to install and run. The activation is the problem. No phone activation is available, no option for any other kind of answers from Adobe. Adobe apparently just wants me to cough up another $1500 for what is, in effect, a 24-digit number. I think that's a little excessive, since I don't need the new software versions. This is the first CS Premium Suite we are talking about. Anybody got a workaround or ideas?
BTW - Intel Core i5 processor, 1 Tb HD, 8G RAM, so there's plenty of power, space and ram. It's really just how to activate that we're talking about. Thanks.
And I have to say, this is very disappointing . Adobe has definitely moved away from the user-friendly, professional company that I dealt with since Illustrator 88 andhas become just another behemoth concerned with bottom lines rather than customer service. Premium software prices should include premium customer support - and I would be willing to pay for that on software that has gone beyond its business life span, but it isn't even available. Not cool, Adobe.

I have 1 old coputer and 1 new 2 different versions of itunes. can they work together. ie can I use the new one to update our iphones and such and if so will our older itunes version8.2 get changed or lost?

We have two computers. One is older and one is newer. The older has itunes on it (version 8.2) and can no onger update. We want to install itunes on our newer computer to allow us to update our iphones. Can we install 10.2 on the newer computer and use it for updates and such without affecting the older computer? Will my wife be able to still play her music from her older computer and if we buy new music will it upload to both computers.
Example if she buys ten more songs on her computer(older one) will it automatically upload them to the newer computer when we turn it on? And if I buy a song on the newer computer would it show up on her older version of itunes or not?

So last night I migrated my old back-up to my new MacBook Pro, but this morning my new machine doesn't recognize my old back-up. I'd rather not erase and back-up from scratch for numerous reasons (losing the old data, time, etc).
Any suggestions? I'll bet this is a realatively common issue?

Looking back, at your original posts....it said it needed 774 GB?? is that at all reasonable for a full backup of your system??
Maybe there's something more than meets the eye?
Also maybe we can figure out what went wrong with the tmutil command. It is possible that you may have to use additional options.
But first le's see who owns the old backup....
From the terminal command line try this:
sudo xattr -l "path to your backup"
Where "path to your backup" is tha same path exactly as used in the tmutil command, that is:
/Volumes/"Backups Device Name"/Backups.backupdb/"Backup Name"
You should get something like this for output:

The "BackupMachineAddress" is the MAC address of the Ethernet port your mother board.
You can find the MAc address in About this Mac-> More Info. -> System report -> Network -> Ethernet 1
The "HostUUID" is the identifier of your mother board.
You can find it in About this Mac-> More Info. -> System report ->Hardware Overview [that's the first thing that shows when you select System report]
These are the way the connection of the backup to a machine is made.
Now the tmutil inheritbackup comand should have set them to the correct values for your new machine.
But let's' see if any of them match the new machine and then see of we haveany more options.

Old mac id used for iTunes purchase, cant play now

Some of my music on iTunes cannot be accessed. I click on it and I get a message "This computer is not authorized to play "xxx". Would you like to authorize it?"
The problem is I had a different .mac account years ago and purchased music on that account. The email address is no longer valid and I can't recall the password. I've tried a couple of passwords I thought might work and now I'm locked out. I tried the "I forgot my password" route and I had choice of having it emailed to a closed account or using security questions I am obviously forgetting, perhaps just a matter or capitalization.
Have I lost this music and have to pay again?

I need to transfer my library from my old computer to my new computer (both PCs.) How is this done? The process seems to be more opaque than it really needs to be. Thank you!!

My library (which includes items from CDs and items purchased from itunes) is on my old PC. I have a new PC and want to transfer the library. I can't see how to do this. I've turned Home Sharing on for both computers, but the Share doesn't show up on either one. I can't figure out how to move the library. When I try to burn it on a CD it keeps saying the CD isn't blank, even tho it is.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

O.,.k. Maybe this is progress. I transfered the Itunes folder to an external hard drive, connected that with the new computer, and told Itunes to look for the library there. It found the library.
The playlists are not there, but that's not a big deal.
The songs I tried to transfer to the new computer are still there, with the "!" tag, meaning they won't play. No big deal. I deleted all the "!" because the songs were there in files without the "!".
Final problem, I hope.
I ended up with hundreds of duplicate copies. Both dupes play. Again, no big deal other than the annoyance of having to delete the dupes.
Next step, after I have completed the deletion of the dupes.
1. Recreate the play lists manually, using my Ipod as the guide.
2. Then sync the Ipod with the new computer library, and all will be will.
Am I right? Or is there possible trouble?

How to transfer Painter 12 with my custom brushes from old iMac to a new iMac both running Mavericks

I just purchased a new iMac. Have Painter 12 on my older iMac and want to be able to transfer Painter 12, with my custom brushes to my new iMac. Tried Airdrop but got a message that it was damaged and that I should trash it. Does any know how to get Painter 12 with all my custom brushes to my new machine? Both are running Mavericks.

Thank you for your response. I did try to use Migration Assistant and I got as far as the two machines trying to communicate with each other. So I guess the answer to your question would be I tried, I failed and it worked until a certain point. I understand that there are other ways to connect the machines, I would have to see if I have the proper cables to do so. Airdrop did get data to my new machine and that tells me that they do see each other on the network. I do not know why they did not see each other via Migration Assistant. I assume that I could go to Corel's site and download Painter 12 to my new machine, ( my new machine does not have a disk drive ), but I will not have my custom brushes etc. and would have to totally make them up in the fresh install version and I am trying to avoid that.
You are probably correct in saying that Painter 12 probably needs a full reinstallation to work properly. Am I to assume that Migration Assistant will do a full reinstallation, including my custom brushes? I guess I am a little confused here.

I just change my Apple ID recently because I can't used my first time Apple ID, and now I have a new Apple ID with new password too. But the problem is that I can't change from my old ID and using the new ID. Every time I try to update the games or any apps that I purposes its coming with my old ID even though I have the new ID. And everything went wrong and I want change it using my new ID on all my Apps.

Anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID.
