HT3275 Time Capsule. Intermittently get failure message
Using Time Capsule for backup.
My Mac Pro running OS 10.6.8 doesn't have a problem.
With my MacBook Pro running OS 10.7.5 I intermittenly get the message:
Time Machine could not complete the backup.
The backup disc image "/Volumes/Data/TomsLaptop.sparsebundle" could not be accessed (error -1).
The disc image Time Machine Backups is mounted. It contains the folder Backups.backupdb, which contains the folder TomsLaptop and this contains the backup folders according to date and time as well as an alias called Latest.
Any ideas?

a simple reboot of the TC is usually enough to fix it.

after trying to restore from time capsule, I get the following message when I try to access the folder "data": "The folder “Data” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents." Any ideas?
Are you restoring from a TM backup??

When I am setting up my new Time Capsule I get a pop up window that says another device is using my IP address and I have to change it. My time capsule will not work or connect to the Internet. I assume that is why. Everything is plugged in as should be. I also have a wireless DVD player and my DISH network plugged in to the Ethernet of the Time Capsule.
You need to do the setup of the TC before you plug it into the network.. you obviously already have a router, so set the TC up as bridge device.. in airport utility/internet tab/connection sharing.. off bridge mode.. then you can plug it into the network and whatever is main router will do its job properly.
If this is not the case, then you have a static IP setup somewhere.. or another dhcp server.. track down and remove it. -
I recently bought a new Time Capsule and the following message has started to show:-

I just brought a New Macbook Pro and was successful in transfering data from my old macbook. However when I try to back up to my time capsule I receive this message. "The backup disk image “/Volumes/Salvatore Totino's Time Cap/Lorraine’s MacBook Pro.spars

Symptom preceding my Time Capsule Power On Failure: Apple TV2 Glitches
Hope this helps someone. I spent days re-installing the system on my my Mac Mini and re-updating my Apple TV 2 firmware in an attempt to solve the problem with my AppleTV2 and Mac Mini losing connection with each other, before the Power On Failure of my Time Capsule identified the problem was elsewhere.
For a month preceding my Time Capsule Power On failure (see below), my wirelessly-attached Apple TV Gen2 would stop in mid-stream while playing a playlist from my wirelessly-attached Mac Mini. Nothing short of quitting & restarting iTunes on the Mac Mini would re-establish a connection.
But when my Time Capsule failed and I was forced to substitute an old AirportExpress b/g base station, all the problems with the AppleTV2 losing connection to the Mac Mini disappeared!
It seems that prior to my Time Capsule failing completely FAILING it was exhibiting MINOR glitches in its wireless operation. These glitches were NOT sufficient to drop the Mac Mini or AppleTV2 from the Internet, but they were apparently enough to interfere with Bonjour networking between the two devices.
BACKGROUND

My particular "Time Capsule Power On" failure symptoms:
- Time Capsule WiFi network disappeared
- Time Capsule the indicator light was OFF (rather than normal green, or even a flashing yellow)
- Power cycling Time Capsule initially would result in yellow light for 10-20 seconds then nothing
- With hand on the Time Capsule case I could feel the internal hard-drive spinning
- Within 1/2 hour, repeated power-cycling would result in the light NEVER coming on

The local Apple store Genius bar replaced my Time Capsule with a brown box 1TB, single radio unit, but would NOT transfer my data on my old Time Capsule. When I asked for assurance that my data would be erased, they said that it was Apple policy that all returned drives are destroyed. It was accept that unwritten promise or leave with my broken Time Capsule. I was NOT happy, but life is already too short – I accepted the replacement Time Capsule.Contact a repairer in your area.. we can fix them cheaper than data recovery.. and you will get a working TC back as good as new.. in fact we can make it better than new because we can fix the fundamental flaw .. no cooling.

Every time I try to connect to my 2TB Airport Time Capsule I get the following message "The server may not exist or is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again." However, if I unplug it and then plug it in again, I can connect to it. How can this be corrected without having to unplug it all the time?
Are you using Yosemite??
This is stock standard yosemite bug and we have no simple fix for you..
You can fix it at its source..
Hack in DNS from Mavericks.. so Yosemite can be raised to a level of reliability above GHASTLY.. !!

Apple still have not fixed it.. and users are now sick and tired of the problem.. so have resorted to what can only be described as extreme measures.. in fact I wonder why people don't just revert to Mavericks.. or earlier.. whatever OS was reliable.. instead of seeing the latest greatest update as necessity. -
***Time Capsule intermittently losing internet connection***
Hello, Here's the story:
My Time Capsule intermittently is losing internet connection. The light is green for 5-10 minutes at a time, then turns amber for 2 minutes and loses internet connection.
At first,..I thought it was the TC going bad. Went to my local Apple store and had it replaced under warranty.
Still,, the same situation was happening.
Then talked to AT&T (DSL) and they checked the connection. They deemed it was OK and possibly the modem going bad.
Went to Best Buy and purchased a new modem. Installed, put into Bridge Mode,...interenet working OK.
Still,...the same situation that it stays on for 5-10 minutes, then loses it for 2 minutes.
Any ideas? Could it still be the ISP (AT&T)?
Last thought,...my neighbor uses Uverse (AT&T) for his cable/ISP and he is expierincing cable/ISP outages ramdomly. I am using DSL (AT&T) too but through my phone line. Are the two possibly related?You need to run the modem in router mode..
I would either bridge the TC or remove it completely because you need to get exact log info from the modem.
Do isolation test.. ie remove all phones and filters and other devices from your phone line. Reboot the modem.. and wait for restart to complete.
Copy out of the modem the full line stats, sync info and even better if you can get cli access and do some deeper level stuff.. (most of the tools I use are PC only.. ie dmt tools).
Then make sure the log is turned on and giving max info and watch your connection.. if it drops without anything happening on the modem,, then the ISP is having issues.. which is possible although connection of cable and adsl is loose or non-existent.
If it drops sync keep track of how often and the line stats, Particularly the SNR..
See if you have an rf noise source in the house.. more if you are interested. -
How do I upgrade the iOs on my ipad1 to version5? I've tried through itunes many times, but I get a message that says that the download was interrupted and i should try again later. Can i download the iOS file to my PC and transfer it to the ipad? How should I do that?

If it's a credit card then is it registered to exactly the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, it was issued by a bank in your country and you are currently in that country ? I have a song that I purchased from Itunes on my Iphone and there was an error downloading. Every time i try to download it times out and says to try again. I have tried several times and still get same message. Help? I have been charged for this song but have not been able to download.
