  • I have created an Apple ID which has been verified but when I go to download a free app it reverts to an ols (alternate apple ID and not the one that has been verified.  I do not know the password for the old Apple ID

I have created an apple ID whiuch has been verified however when I go to download an app mit reverts to an old apple ID and asks for a different password which I do not have.  How can I edit or delete the old (alternate) password and ensure that it only refers to the current Apple ID when requesting confirmation.  Note the old Apple iD is a gmail account and I read somewhere that you can not edit or delete gmail or me.com apple IDs?  Is this the case?

Did you create a brand new account or change an existing Apple ID?

Without an iPhone or iPod Touch to restore the backup to, you cannot access the camera roll photos stored in the iCloud backup.  Signing into the account on your computer and enabling photo stream will only allow you to access photo stream photos from the last 30 days, and any shared stream you were subscribed to.
You can redownload purchased music in iTunes on your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519.

    Hi, Abril_Perez17.
This may be related to a new feature embedded in iOS7 that shows all purchased music by default.  Go to Settings > Music, then turn off Show All Music.  See if the issue ceases once the feature has been disabled.  This information is located on page 63 of the user guide below.

You can't reformat it and not wipe everything on it.
Have you tried a different USB port?
Only other option, back it up on a different computer.

  • How do I open a Numbers file sent to me that has been converted to Excel?  I already have MS Office for Mac.Ow

How do I open a Numbers file sent to me that has been converted to Excel?  I already have MS office for Mac, but nothing comes up when I click on the imported file.

If it indeed has been converted from Numbers to Excel, it will have a .xlsx suffix at the end of the name. Do a Get Info on the file if the suffix doesn't show. Else, it may still be in Numbers format and be unreadable by Excel.
If it is in the right format, and you don't want to have to do what mende1 has instructed above for every successive file, click on the "Always open with..." option. That will associate the .xlsx suffix to Excel from thereon.

  • How to download an app *not* from icloud that has been downloaded before with a different account?

    Greetings,
If an app has been downloaded before even with an account other than the one I am signed in with, it shows the cloud icon and asks me for the password of the other account.
How do I download it with the account I am currently logged in with?
    Thanks

"I'm using the one on the computer, not the device."
Well I said this is happening on an iPad. Reread what is happening from the beginning of the thread, and tell me if the instructions are correct for the iPad. Are you prompted for passwords from a different account that previously downloaded the app on the iPad?
    Again
    The app is Google Search.
    It is free.
(I am always promoted for passwords for both free and paid apps.)
The device is an iPad. That is why I posted this is the iPad discussion.
I am logged in with my account, let's call it A. It shows account A next to Apple ID in the lower left of the Featured page.
When I search for Google Search, and click the cloud download icon next next to the Google Search app, it prompts me for the password to a different account. Let's call it B.
In the app store it shows a cloud download icon next to every app that has ever been downloaded on this iPad, regardless of whether it is account A, B, C, etc
Have you tried logging in with a different account to test this?

That is "activation lock". You won't be able to use the iPhone unless this is cleared by the original owner.

  • How do I save as gif and not lose quality

I got an image with lot's of text in a clipping mask and I can't save it as gif without the picture looking aweful. Please help!

Your expectations are unrealistic. Your text characters are small enough that they are coming up against the hardware resolution of the monitor. The hardware resolution of any given monitor does not change.
That, in itself, has nothing to do with the fact that you are saving as GIF. Here's the thing:
You say you are getting undesirable results
when you save the design as GIF. That implies that you see something inferior when viewing the GIF, compared to what you see on your screen in Illustrator. If so, do this:
    1. Open the design in Illustrator. Zoom it until the image on your screen is the size you want it to be viewed on a web page. Does the text look good to you? Okay, then...
    2. Take a screenshot. Paste it into whatever raster program you are using. When viewed at 1:1 zoom (one image pixel per screen pixel), you will see the same thing that you saw in Illustrator. In other words, you captured it with the same text anti-aliasing that Illustrator uses to render its screen.
Save it as GIF. Use the GIF options to minimize the number of colors in the color lookup table, but only reduce the number of colors so far that the reduction does not visibly degrade the image.
    3. Link the image in your HTML
without a scale factor. If you use the captured image at anything smaller than 100%, then the browser or OS is going to have to do its own interpolation to re-render it to the now mis-matched resolution of the screen. That will not look good.
If I'm not doing any "clear pixel" transparency, etc. (your sample image doesn't imply the need for it), I usually don't even futz with Illustrator's Save For Web or export when I want a web-ready image of something I drew in Illustrator. I usually just zoom to the desired on-screen size, take a screenshot, and save it as PNG or JPEG or GIF. (I'm on Windows, so I use a handly litte screenshot utility, SnagIt.)

  • I am new to mac.  I have a Mac Book Air with an external CD drive.  How do you safely disconnect the external drive when done without having to power off the laptop?

I know there is a way to safely "disconnect" the USB, I just can't remember what it is.  Thanks

    Hi kbstuckr,
Go to your Finder. You will see the drive listed with a little arrow with a bar below it next to the drive. Click on that to "eject" it.
    Cheers,

  • When trying to udate iTunes on my PC, I recieve the error message "The older version of iTunes cannot be removed"  How do I correct this error and not lose all the music I have in iTunes?

When trying to update my version of iTunes on my PC with Windows 7,  I receive the error message "The older version of iTunes cannot be romoved".  How do I correct this problem without losing all the music that I have in iTunes on my PC?

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
