  • Ipod nano 5th gen not recognized by itunes

Having same issue as other post except that I'm on XP home instead of a Mac. Windows recognizes the Ipod but Itunes does not. I've tried a number of the tips I've read about in the support section, but no luck. 2nd Gen Nano and Shuffle work fine and are recognized by Itunes. I was able to charge the 5th gen Nano but it was never setup since it was not recognized.

Sorry about posting in Ipod discussion instead of Nano 5th gen discussion. I was probably half awake.
I spent a lot time messing around with my computer with no luck. Finally contacted an Apple expert and though the rep was not able to solve the issue with me, he pointed me in the right direction. My fix was actually quite simple:
I downloaded Itunes onto my wife's laptop and plugged in the Nano. The setup worked and Itunes recognized it. I was able to update the latest software for the device. I moved some music files over with the Homeshare feature just in case I would not be able to use my PC. Luckily when I plugged the Nano back into my PC, Itunes recognized it.
It was either the initial device setup or the update that I needed to resolve the issue on my PC. So try it on another computer if you similar issues before you waste a lot of time and effort.

  • IPod touch 5th gen not responding

The screen on my iPod touch 5th gen froze for 5 minutes so I restarted it but the screen went blank and the apple logo did not appear. I've tried restarting it but no matter what I do, the iPod still will not respond. Help?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod nano 5th gen not recognized nano 2nd gen works fine.

I have 2nd gen iPod Nano that works fine.
I just upgraded to a 5th gen iPod Nano.
Problem is can not find device in "My Computer" or on iTunes.
    I have switched USB ports.
I have unistalled & reinstalled latest version of iTunes.
I have made sure Windows is updated.
I have gone into Device Manager uninstalled & reinstalled both using the Apple supports recomended way & as Windows suggests when I troubleshoot it.
I still get the yellow exclamation point next to Apple Mobile Device driver with the dreaded code 10.
Before I pull my hair out and bang my head against a brick wall any suggestions or help please!

  • Why is my iPod touch 5th gen not responding?

I pushed the sleep/wake button and then I came back to use it. It didn't respond when I pushed the home button and the sleep/wake button and I've tried turning it on. That doesn't work and my iPod is completely unresponsive and blank. I've connected it to my computer and opened iTunes and iTunes didn't register my iPod. I've tried plugging it in and charging it but it didn't respond and remained completely blank. Would be great if someone could help. cheers Daniel

  • Ipod nano 4th Gen - not responding

    Hi,
I've tried the five Rs. No joy. Tried factory reset. No joy, just error message saying ipod cannot reset.
Screen is illuminated, but dead apart from that.
Any pearls of wisdom from anyone?
    Cheers
    Andy

Connected iPod and a few minutes later the following message popped up:  iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted.  You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes.
My question is this:  How to perforn the "restore" function?
    tia for any help.

Yes, your battery is likely toast and in need of replacement.  Not much else for troubleshooting here.  Sorry.

my ipod nano 5th gen. wont turn on and is not being recognized on my mac or itunes

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting?  After leaving the Nano to sit and charge for at least 30 minutes, try resetting it by pressing and holding both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear. You'll want to make sure the Hold Switch is not in the On position as well.

  • IPod Nano (5th gen, 16GB) syncing some albums, but not others...?

Hello! I am new to the world of iPods, so please bear with me.
I recently purchased an iPod Nano (5th gen, 16GB) and figured out how to sync it with iTunes. Unfortunately, it seems to only sync up with select albums in my library. I know that in order for an album to sync there needs to be check marks next to each song, which I did, but after I sync it I browse my iPod and find that only (roughly) half of the albums I indicated actually show up on my iPod. For example, I was able to sync albums by The Afghan Whigs, Bryan Ferry, and Berlin just fine, but for some reason I was not able to sync certain albums by Autechre, Low, or King Black Acid.
What gives?? I will note that I am using the Windows 7 release candidate - hopefully this has nothing to do with it.

  • My iPod Nano 5th Gene Play button is not working

My iPod Nano 5th gene's play button stopped working recently, meaning I can't pause my music and I have to use the "sleep" option to turn it off! I've had it for nearly 3 years, so the warrant is up, and I live no where near an Apple store.

Is none of the usual 5 R's of troubleshooting resolve the issue, you can be certain that it's hardware related.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/nano5gen/
So whether or not you live near an Apple store, you still need to take or send your iPod in for service to have an out of warranty exchange done for the prices listed on this page.

You could also do some research on third party services that will actually repair the damaged component for a little less than what you would pay if you went the Apple route.  A Google search for "iPod Nano repair service" should give you a number of results to work with.

  • My Ipod nano 5th gen lost all of my podcasts and will not download anything from ITunes

All my content on my Ipod nano 5th ed disappeared, and it will not download anything from ITunes.  I restoered original content. My operating system is up to date.  My capacity is 8 gigs.  What more should I do?

The title says "iPod nano 5th gen" but your message says "iPod classic". There is a forum for the iPod classic, if that is what you have.

  • Ipod nano 5th gen, when listening to audiobooks, ipod does not advance to next part when previous part ends, it returns to beginning of previous part

when listening to audiobooks, when a part finishes, i.e., part 1, ipod starts over at beginning of part just finished instead of advancing to the next part, i.e., part 2.  Is there some setting I can change so it advances to next part instead of repeating the part I just finished?

The music does not belong to you.  You have no legal right to it and there is no way to keep it.
