Pages, Numbers, Keynote issue with WebDAV

I am in need of your assistance as the new version of Keynote appears to be causing issues, and I am not sure where to go or what to do to report this.
Here is the situation.
We have a Sharepoint server running WebDAV services. Our students use WebDAV capable applications on their iPads such as Pages, Numbers, Keynote, WebDAV NAV +, etc. They create files using these apps on their iPads and then save them to their "WebDAV" folder on the SharePoint server. This is necessary so that students may access their files via the iPad in our LMS and turn in assignments via a digital dropbox. This has worked fine in the past until the update of Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. In the past these apps on the iPad have always placed a single file on the server to which the students could go in and retrieve the file or send it to a digital dropbox in our LMS through a WebDAV connection between the LMS and the SharePoint server.
With the update of these apps on the iPad to the newest version, Pages, Numbers, and Keynote now place a folder on the SharePoint server of which it contains the following items: folder titled "Data", folder titled "Metadata", icon titled index.zip, icon titled preview-micro.jpg, icon titled preview-web.jpg, icon titled preview.jpg.
The issue is that now with this being a folder, students are no longer able to retrieve the file nor are they able to go into the LMS and send the file to a digital dropbox as it is now a folder and not a packaged file.
This is a serious setback to us as it renders Pages, Numbers, and Keynote useless since they can not use their iPads to retrieve or submit their assignments to a dropbox in an LMS or bring it back to the apps on the iPad.
As I said earlier, this worked perfectly fine prior to the new version of Pages, Keynote, and Numbers.
I believe this to be a Pages, Numbers, Keynote issue as when I send the file from Keynote to the WebDAV folder as a PPT, everything works fine. Kind of hard to get the staff to use Keynote when all they see is the "PowerPoint" verson works with no issues. Also, this would be a poor work around for something that use to work in the past.
Anyone else experience this or have suggestions?

I'm not sure if this is exactly what your original post is about but I saw the comments under it talking about
getting the same notification over and over again that dropbox files were updated, like it's in a loop and won't stop. I also am seeing the properties.plist, index.zip and preview-micro.jpg as the updated file names when I click on my little dropbox icon on the top of my desktop. I am on a Macbook Air OS X 10.9 (Maverick). I've been using dropbox for a while and this seems to have started after I upgraded to Maverick.
I wrote to Dropbox and here is the process they had me follow to correct this problem, and it worked perfectly, so I thought I'd share (**the only step that I didn't do is step 4 because I couldn't find the dropboxhelpertools folder in my library):

There appears to be a problem with the Dropbox software currently installed on your computer. I'm going to have you do a full reinstall and resync to attempt to fix the problem.First, make sure you save and quit ALL programs that access files in the Dropbox folder.
Here are the steps:
1. Download the newest version:
- http://www.dropbox.com/install/
2. Stop the Dropbox desktop application (if needed)
- Click on the Dropbox icon.
- Choose Quit/Stop/Exit
3. Delete Dropbox meta-data folder:
- To delete this folder open a Terminal (Located at /Applications/Utilities/Terminal for Mac OS)
- Copy and paste the following lines into the Terminal and press RETURN:
mv ~/.dropbox ~/.Trash/dropbox.old
- This will move the folder to the Trash and make it visible.
4. Delete the Dropbox Contextual Menu Item Plugin
- Open the Finder and select Go to folder... from the Go menu (or press Shift-Command-G)
- A dialog box should appear. Now copy and paste the following line into the box and press the return key:
/Library/
- Finally drag the DropboxHelperTools folder to the Trash and enter your Administrator password if prompted to complete this action.
5. Reinstall the Dropbox desktop application
- Open the Dropbox .dmg file and double click the Dropbox icon.
- Dropbox should appear in your menu bar.
- Relink your account.

Keynote issue with ibooks

Hi, i have a problem with links between sheets in keynote, they don't work on the ipad, does anybody have the same problem?
They should work, because they worked a few times...

I came across this discussion and thought I could share something that I discovered today. This may or may not help so I make no promisses, but here goes:
When creating a keynote presentation on the MAC OSX (Hyperlinks ONLY) (I use Lion 10.7.4), then sending to brand new iPad (Version 3) via iTunes, many of the Hyperlinks did not work as well. Heres what I found out by process of elination and you might try.
It turns out the Hyperlinks DO NOT WORK on the iPad when the hyperlinked item is part of a "Group" of items. The odd part is if you ungroup the items and then select ONLY the one item to be hyperlinked, then go to the tools, advanced, "Interactive hyperlinks" the hyperlink created on the Mac already shows up correctly, becuase it was there the whole time ! Bizzare, dont you think. For some reason Keynote on an iPad deo sNOT like any of the hyperlinks to be grupoed with any other items or they DON'T work !
MY solution is this (A Pain in the butt, but it worked 100%) Create your entire presenation, then make a copy version of the file, then enter the new version and make sure ALL hyperlinked items are ungrouped. Then resend to iTunes, and import into Keynote on iPad and Voila !!
Like I said this may not be the same issue as described above, but just might be a solution. I hope this helps someone any way.

OS X Mav causing Keynote issues?

I just installed OS X Maverick on my Mac Air. Now my Keynote presentations are being "zipped" into folders as .key.zip instead of simply staying a .key. Is this a simple setting issue or is it a bug?

Pages/Keynote issue after Mac migration

Hello! I just purchased an Intel MacBook Pro 15" and migrated my old 17" PowerBook to it. However, I can't use iWork now. When I try to open Pages (or Keynote) I get the message "You cannot open the application "Pages" because it is not supported on this system." There is also a big "no" symbol over the grayed-out app icons.
Is there an update I need to do, or do I need to find my CDs (good luck to me on that; still in a moving box somewhere!) and reinstall?

Your best may be to re-install, unfortunately. I am not sure what might have gone wrong, but it is probably faster to re-install than to try and troubleshoot.

Audio File & Keynote Issue

Hi guys,
I have an interview mp3 file I want to synch with my Keynote presentation.
I'm not exactly sure how this can be accomplished.
The help instructions are not helpful at trying to figure this out.
Any ideas on how to accomlpish this while I can transition from slide to slide as well in the process?

First, I have to say that "synching" any audio to a Keynote presentation is an "iffy" thing at best. Because Keynote does not treat audio files in an appropriate manner, you may find that longer tracks and presentations will drift out of synch.
That said, here is how you can try to accomplish what you want to do:
1) Create your slideshow presentation as you want to see it appear on the screen. It is best if you can manage all Builds manually by a Click. If you want them to be Automatic, you will have to "time" them to fit the audio track.
2) Then, in the Inspector>Document menu, select Audio
3) Drag the MP3 audio file into the Soundtrack window (or navigate to it and select it)
4) Record your soundtrack:
4.1) Click the "Record" button
4.2) As the soundtrack progresses, CLICK to advance your Builds and Transitions in synch with the audio track. If you make a mistake, you will have to stop, Clear the Recording, and start again.
When finished, check your presentation to see if everything is OK. If you are playing it as a "stand-alone" it should replay just as you Recorded it. However, if you are playing it via a "hyperlink" it will NOT play anything that was initiated with a Click; you will still have to perform these manually during playback.
Also, be aware that the speed of the processor of the computer that plays the presentation will control the duration of all Builds and Transitions, so it is best to use this machine when you create your presentation and Record your Soundtrack. At the least, confirm your presentation on this machine before going public. Otherwise, it is almost guaranteed that things will drift out of sync fairly quickly.
Until the many complaints expressed in this Forum (and to the Apple Keynote Feedback site) regarding how poorly audio is implemented in Keynote, we all will have to do our best to work-around these shortcomings.

Keynote issue: Why does my iPhone 5 not detect my iPad with Retina Display when both devices are up-to-date?

I have an iPhone 5. I am trying to pair it to my iPad with Retina Display. However, the devices do not detect each other when trying to pair over Keynote.
My apps and iOS are up-to-date. What is the problem? I have even tried wi-fi. I successfully paired the device to my iMac and it works.

This is for you and any other person that needs it. I didn't know how to use it properly.
Therefore, I guess it is operator error on my part.
You have to go into your Presentation tools and enable the remote from there.

Remote sync well with iPad .. Impressive
However, it doesn't work with any hyperlinks!
It's simply an image and swiping the pages ... Ignoring all hyperlinks ... It does work with media but u would have to put them in sequence in your slides. If you work with many hyperlinks within a slide, you can't get any to work with the remote!
Quite disappointed that Apple actually charges for an app so simple with no value added services!
There are many free apps doing the same simple tasks.

New bug introduced with Keynote 5.2 - Set timing and order of each build has stopped working properly on Smart Builds

Hi there,
We're heavy users of Keynote and have noticed a new bug has recently been introduced into something that was stable. I think it has emerged in Keynote 5.2, could have been Keynote 5.1 also.
It's in the area of Set Timing and Order of each build when used on a Smartbuild. You can no longer set the Start Build field for each instance within the Smart build when the instances are interspersed between other items. The Start build field is just blank and unselectable.
To see this :
1. Create a bullet point list with 4 lines
2. Set build to Appear
3. Set "Set Timing and Order of each Build" to on
4. Create a Smart Build - set to flip
5. On the Smart Build Set "Set Timing and Order of each Build" to on
5. re-order the items in your Build Order so that they alternate between the bullet point and the smart build flip
At this point, you used to be able to set the bullets so that they Started on Click and then set the smart builds to Start with previous. This gave you a nice and very useful effect where you could click to reveal a bullet point and at the same time flip in a corresponding image. We've used this loads of times in our company presentations.
With a recent keynote update ( I think 5.2 maybe, could have been 5.1) this functinality has been lost. have tried it on Lion and Mountain Lion and it's not an OS issue, its a Keynote issue.
Could anyone from Apple acknowledge that they know the issue and suggest if it will get fixed? Right now we're hunting round for an old Keynote 9 DVD so we can install a pre build 5.2 version.

I've noticed the bug you describe and to me it's very irritating.
I also found some differences in the build menu between the last release and the previous one, and between the Mac OS X and iOS versions. For instance, the blast build doesn't exist anymore in Keynote 5.2 but it's still in the version for iOS 6.
What is your experience about?

I am having a very bad time with loading videos into Keynote, which I have used for 7 years in medical lectures given all over the US and the world. Yes there are a lot of slides with cine loops, but I have never had these crashes before. A

License Error: mocha AE CC when opening quicktime mpg4 movie created by keynote

UPDATE - discovered answer myself. I set "Open with" and then chose Quicktime. It's not a keynote issue but how my mac is configured. For some reason it had defaulted to using Mocha AE as the application to play MPG4 files, and changing this has fixed the issue for now.
ORIGINAL NOTE:
I exported a keynote presentation as quicktime. Then when I try to run it I get a "License Error: mocha AE CC must only be launched from After Effects " warning. I have Adobe CC installed, but this only really concerns Keynote and Quicktime. Any ideas?

This will fix the file, but not the default app for all m4v on the system.
Make sure to click the "Change All" button after you have selected QT in the dropdown, this will change the default for all m4v to Quicktime.

Keynote timing off

Two Keynote issues/questions:
Can the presenter note field be enlarged?
How can I ensure that all the timing cues (delays, dissolves, transitions, etc.) run the SAME each time. There seems to be LOTS of variation.

I subscribe to a list serve that had this very topic today...only it had to do with PPT. Knowing some on THIS site have complained about Keynote's timings, and some have even suggested PPT has no problem, I submit this:

So, it would appear neither product really gets it right yet. I just wonder if in the future Apple can add some kind of internal clock to Keynote and have it read the time code in movies, etc, managing everything and keeping it in time. That might fix the QT delay problems, but I have no idea why the same program on the same machine will give different results...that one has me stumped.

New computer, new Keynote, repeatedly crashing

I have a Macbook Pro 15" w/Retina, 16GB. Keynote was factory installed. Everything is up to date. OSX 10.8.3, Keynote '09 5.3 (1170)
I'm trying to use Keynote for the first time. It has crashed 3 times while working on just the second slide. What little data I'd entered was lost.
I'm new to the Mac, this is my first one. I use PowerPoint without problems on a PC.
I thought the Mac, the tightly integrated OS, and the Apple software were to be very stable, if not bulletproof. So far this is pretty unimpressive. Is anyone actually using Keynote for anything useful?

Try this maintenance procedure, it has sorted out many Keynote issues:
1
Uninstall all of iWork if you have this, otherwise uninstall Keynote if other iWork applications are not installed.
This must be done with an application remover to delete the installation properly. Appcleaner is known to work with this procedure, is free can be downloaded from here: Appcleaner Download

empty the trash

Reinstall Keynote or iWork using the original method on purchase using the installer file or installed from the App Store
4
shutdown the Mac and restart holding down the shift key until the apple logo appears
let the Mac complete the start up procedure completely, it will take longer to start as it is repairing software on the hard drive
5
go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility > First Aid > Repair Disc Permissions
when this is completed restart the Mac normally
Please report back on how you got on as feedback is important to keep information up to date.

Keynote shutdown - help

After a recent upgrade to Mavericks, Keynote keeps shutting down in the middle of slide show presentations. What do I do?

I have a Keynote issue too. Upgraded to Mavericks but went back to Keynote 09 - hate all the new iWork programs. Now, presentations will not let me exit while connected to a projector. ESC does nothing. Unhook the projector, choose a new Keynote file and Mac crashes - the gray screen that tells me my Mac needs to be rebooted. Happened twice today during an important meeting. Sometimes when I eventually quit and get back to my desk with no projectore hooked up, the top left hand quarter of the screen is black and nothing will restore the full screen except a reboot. Very infuriating.
