HT3347 Scatter and line charts - multiple series?

Is there a way of having more than 1 series on a scatter chart, or a way of removing the line in a line chart, leaving only the data points?

you have control over many aspects of how a chart is presented through the Charts inspector.  You can open the Inspector by selecting the menu item "View > Show Inspector" OR click the Inspector button in the toolbar:
You can adjust the number of series in a scatter chart by clicking the chart, then changing the highlighted area in the data tables by grabbing the circle at the bottom right of the data and dragging as needed to add or remove data:
Finally, with the inspector open, you can change many aspects of the chart:

  • Bar chart and Line chart in a single chart??

    Hello,
    Was wondering if there is any way to create a bar chart and line chart in a single Flash or SVG chart? If not, are there any plans to introduce such a chart type in the future releases?
    Regards,
    Dev

    Dev,
    I don't think you can do that using standard Flash or SVG. However, you can do this
    using my XML Chart Package
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:58
    and the instructions given on
    http://www.maani.us/xml_charts/index.php?menu=Gallery&submenu=Composite
    You can modify the package to do that for you.

    This can be done in Excel and I'm thinking that it should be possible in WebI reports too.

  • Cfchart yaxis scale is wrong when combining bar and line charts

    Hi, I am trying to combine a bar and line chart ti display data.  Everything looks good except that the yaxis scale is off.  I set the scaleMin to 0 but that doesn't help.  Below is my code, the custom XML style and a screen shot.  My ultimate goal is to get the yaxis to start at 0, not -1,000 as is currently the case.  I have combined this data with each set represented as bar charts and do not have this problem.  It must be the combo of bar and line charts together.  Any assistance is most appreciated.

  • Xcelsius Drill Down With Column and Line Chart

    Hi Guys,
    I am working on an Xcelsius 2008 Dashboard. I would like to integrate two charts, a column and a line chart. The column chart is supposed to show the results for each quarter. With a selector it changes the view and name of the different numbers.
    Then I would like to enable the drill down so that I can see the results for the three months of the corresponding quarter in the line chart. Is that somehow possible? I am totally lost. Thanks for your help.
    Kind Regards,
    Maurice

    Hi Maurice,
    You cannot integrate a column chart and line chart to make drill down possible. You could drill down a column chart to show the values in another chart bt that would be just two different charts and not an integrated one.

  • Chart Multiple Series - Line/Column Alignment

    In one of the pages from the charting section of the Adobe's
    online Flex help,
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/labs/flex3/html/help.html?content=charts_types_12.html#227567
    there's a picture near the top showing a line chart overlaid
    on a column chart, and the endpoints of the line segments are
    centered horizontally within each bar.
    There are two code samples later in the page showing similar
    charts, but the bars are only half as wide as they are in the first
    picture, and the result is that the line segment endpoints coincide
    with the right edges of the bar instead of the bar centers.
    I'm wondering how to produce a graph like the first picture.
    I tried different combinations of columnWidthRatio but nothing
    seemed to help. If I add more line series to the examples, the bars
    become thinner, as if the ColumnChart determines the bar width
    according to the
    total number of series, not just the number of column
    series.
    I thought about trying to add an ItemRenderer to the
    ColumnSeries, but it seems that should be an easier way. Any ideas?

  • Line Chart Ignoring Series That Starts With a Null Value

    I have a flash chart that was working fine until APEX was upgraded to 3.1
    The chart is 2D Line. Each series represents a discrete year (2006, 2007, 2008 etc.) and the X-Axis is the month (Jan to Dec) and the Y-Axis is the sales amount for that month.
    The year 2006 is the first series and values begin in May so the Jan to Apr values for that series are null (but displayed as Zero before the APEX upgrade), with APEX 3.1, now the 2006 series does not display at all. The other series (that have values from Jan onwards) all display fine. Nothing else has changed except the upgrade to 3.1
    How can I get my 2006 series to display again other than entering zero values for the Jan to Apr months?
    Thanks in anticipation......
    Ollie.
    Is there anyone who is an APEX chart guru who can help with this?

  • Chart multiple series question

    I have one sql query to generate a flash line chart. It generates 8 series using syntax:
    SELECT link, label, series_1_value [, series_2_value [, ...]]
    FROM ...
    Is there any way to customize the line color of each series, and labels for each series? Right now, I can't tell which line is for what.
    Many thanks!

    Jerry,
    I didn't know how to set the line color either. (I was searching for that exact thing when I found your post). But I puttered around and found this solution:
    1) Click the Flash Chart Link.
    2) In the Chart Setting section, change Color Scheme to Custom.
    3) Click the flashlight icon below that to pop up a color selection window, which lets you assign a color to each of your series (in order).
    4) Click the multi-colored button on each row to pop up the color selector window.
    You could also make things more obvious by turning on the Legend.
    Good luck,
    Stew

  • Urgent: Combination of stacked bar chart and line chart

    Hi,
    I have the following request: First I need series depending on the year (no problem) and two stacks for each series (first problem). Now I need two line, line 1 for total of stack 1 and line 2 for total of stack 2. Both lines should have a label showing the difference from one to next series in percent.
    Can something like this be done in BI Publisher. I got an excel sheet with such a chart, so it is possible there. Any templates, hints or tipps?
    I need this very urgent because it's the main report of my project. So if this is not working I can stop the project and have to find another reporting tool.
    Thanks

    I've made again some tests by myself and recognized that there's something strange in the chart.
    When I create a stacked bar chart with values of DURATION, labels for TYPE_NAME and series of YEAR the first thing is, that it is not ordered. So how can this be done?
    The second error, is hard to explain ...
    Let's say I've the following values:
            Type1     Type2     Type3
    2005    1            2             3
    2006    4            5             6
    2007    7            8             9I would expect the following chart:
    2005     2006     2007
    1             4          7            Type1
    2             5          8            Type2
    3             6          9            Type3But the chart shows me the following:
    2005     2006     2007
    1             7          4            Type1
    5             2          8            Type2
    3             6          9            Type3You can see, the values are totally mixed, the code of the chart is the following:
    chart:
    <Graph seriesEffect="SE_AUTO_GRADIENT" graphType="BAR_VERT_STACK">
    <Title text="" visible="true" horizontalAlignment="CENTER"/>
    <MarkerText visible="true" markerTextPlace="MTP_CENTER" />
    <LocalGridData colCount="{count(xdoxslt:group(.//ROW,  'YEAR'))}" rowCount="{count(xdoxslt:group(.//ROW,  'TYPE_NAME'))}">
    <RowLabels>
    <xsl:for-each-group xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" select=".//ROW" group-by="TYPE_NAME">
    <Label>
    <xsl:value-of select="current-group()/TYPE_NAME"/>
    </Label>
    </xsl:for-each-group>
    </RowLabels>
    <ColLabels>
    <xsl:for-each-group xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" select=".//ROW" group-by="YEAR">
    <Label>
    <xsl:value-of select="current-group()/YEAR"/>
    </Label>
    </xsl:for-each-group>
    </ColLabels>
    <DataValues>
    <xsl:for-each-group xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" select=".//ROW" group-by="TYPE_NAME">
    <RowData>
    <xsl:for-each-group select="current-group()" group-by="YEAR">
    <Cell>
    <xsl:value-of select="sum(current-group()/DURATION)"/>
    </Cell>
    </xsl:for-each-group>
    </RowData>
    </xsl:for-each-group>
    </DataValues>
    </LocalGridData>
    </Graph>Otherwise I had made the following to have a stacked bar for duration and one for outage:
    chart:
    <Graph seriesEffect="SE_AUTO_GRADIENT" graphType="BAR_VERT_STACK">
    <Title text="" visible="true" horizontalAlignment="CENTER"/>
    <LocalGridData colCount="{count(xdoxslt:group(.//ROW,  'YEAR')) * 2}" rowCount="{count(xdoxslt:group(.//ROW,  'TYPE_NAME'))}">
    <RowLabels>
    <xsl:for-each-group xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" select=".//ROW" group-by="TYPE_NAME">
    <Label>
    <xsl:value-of select="current-group()/TYPE_NAME"/>
    </Label>
    </xsl:for-each-group>
    </RowLabels>
    <ColLabels>
    <xsl:for-each-group xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" select=".//ROW" group-by="YEAR">
    <xsl:sort select="YEAR"/>
    <Label>
    <xsl:value-of select="current-group()/YEAR"/>
    </Label>
    <Label />
    </xsl:for-each-group>
    </ColLabels>
    <DataValues>
    <xsl:for-each-group xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" select=".//ROW" group-by="TYPE_NAME">
    <RowData>
    <xsl:for-each-group select="current-group()" group-by="YEAR">
    <Cell>
    <xsl:value-of select="sum(current-group()/DURATION)"/>
    </Cell>
    <Cell>
    <xsl:value-of select="sum(current-group()/OUTAGE)"/>
    </Cell>
    </xsl:for-each-group>
    </RowData>
    </xsl:for-each-group>
    </DataValues>
    </LocalGridData>
    </Graph>The only thing I miss is a label for each stack, what is shown (so duration or outage) and of course the line.
    Thanks for any help

  • Combining Column and Line charts

    I'm trying to put together a composite graph, consisting of
    both LineSeries and Column Series, for a financial page. I'm
    rendering the entire graph inside of a ColumnChart. However, when
    multiple points for the lineseries are close together, the
    mouse-over only displays a single dataTip. When working in a
    LineChart, multiple dataTips are displayed for any points close
    together or on top of each other; is there any (preferably simple!)
    way to replicate that functionality in a ColumnChart?
    Thanks!

    And to make it even more fun, I just know discovered that
    interpolateValues="false" does not seem to function properly within
    a columnChart. Does anyone know a workaround for this
    problem?

  • Flash chart performance issue with multiple series

    Hi,
    We have a problem with the performace of a line graph which has multiple series.
    I have set up an example application here:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=37504:1
    The application contains two charts. The 'Mulltiple Series' chart has twelve series behind it and allows the user to include mutiple series data. The other chart has just one series.
    The single series chart takes only a couple of seconds to render, however the mutiple series chart takes around 10 seconds even when no additional series have been selected. Using Firebug I have observed that the apex_util.flash procedure is taking around 8 seconds to generate the XML, and it includes null data values for the series that aren't selected.
    My question is how can I make each series conditional, such that no data is included in the XML if the series returns no rows?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew
    Have you considered modifying your chart to use a series with the "Query source type" of "Function returning SQL Query"
    Have a look at
    Re: Flash chart - multiple series - no display when some series empty
    My response on that thread may help. I'd be interested to know if this approach improves the performance.

      I have a requirement of intermixing of Bar/Column-Chart and Line-Chart. How to do this? I also need to color the columns.. Any Documents or Ideas will be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi, Rohit & Neha
       I think, my question is not clear..
    My requirements are on Business Graphics (Not in IWDTable), where i need to represent my data in different columns (Levels). Each level will be Represented in different colors.
    Eg: Top level of my Graph will have RED,
          Middle by YELLOW and
          Bottom part would be with GREEN.
    My Second Question is on using Multiple Graph types in same graph...
    Where data will be represented in Column/Bar Chart and in the same graph i need a curve to display the max value pointed by Column Chart..
    How can i achieve this?
