HT3386 How do I organize documents  in pages?

Where do I find info on organizing my documents in Pages.... putting them in folders, etc.?  I am used to Word and I am baffled.

Apple has created a lot of tutorials on using Macs. Start on this page & then click on "browse all products." From there you can choose a sub-category. Be sure to click the link at the bottom of the page to load more videos.
Even though you're asking about Pages, the category to start with would be Mac OS because file organization is done in Finder (think Windows Explorer).

How do I organize documents in Pages on my iPad mini?

    Hi
To make a subfolder within a folder just click on file and make another new folder.
So make a folder, put stuff in it. Then click on it to open it and then make another new folder.
To test to see if you have done it right. go back to finder - documents - click on the folder and it should show another folder (subfolder) - click on it and it will open the subfolder - then just click the back button and it should take you back to the main folder.
You can have as many subfolders as you like and even another subfolder within the subfolder.

How do I name documents in Pages for iPad?
When I create a new documents in Pages it is saved simply as Blank. I need to be able to edit this and give my new document a name such as "Pricing Proposal", etc.
Is this possible in Pages for iPad, and if so how do I go about it?

Ah yes: that works. I swear I tried that when searching for how to do this, but I must not have held my finger down long enough.
Thank you so much for your help

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You need to upload documents from your mac to iCloud.com for them to become available on your iPad.

Can you be more specific? Normally you would open the Finder, create a folder in your preferred location (Documents or wherever), and drag and drop files into it.

  • How to print a document in Pages

just got iMac computer and downloaded Pages.  Can not work out how to print a document I just created

    Hi LL,
There's a great piece of free documentation for Pages called the Pages User Guide. It can be downloaded from the Help menu. I suggest that you read the well-written guide some quiet evening. It will get you off and running with your new computer and Pages.
Printing documents on a Mac is the same as on a Windows system: File > Print.

  • How to attach a document (using Pages) to a Gmail account?

I am using Gmail and trying to attach a document ( Mac Pages) but it wont attach, keeps telling me that its failed to attach.

If a person uses Apple's native Mail App that came on the Mac or iOS device...then is will send attachments of the newest "Mavericks" versions of Pages, Numbers and Keynote. If a person tries to do this from within a Web Browser it doesn't seem to work (as I've recently tested from information from of our churches staff who only use the Web Interface). So, I'm not sure if Google changed something with thier Web Browser version recently or not, since I've always used the native Mail App on all my Macs and iOS devices.
So, there used to be a problem sending attachments from within the Mail App several months ago...but that was fixed by Apple (again several months ago).
    Hope that helps...
I highly recommend using the built in Mail App (Email Client).
    Multiple Email Accounts:
An Email Client allows multiple email accounts from different email providers to all be used simultaneous in one simple to use interface without any problematic POP forwarding settings or delayed delivery problems. i.e. It will gather and display email from Yahoo, Gmail, iCloud, AOL, Microsoft Exchange or any other email provider.
Accounts can still be viewed separately or all together:
All email accounts can still be viewed separately or all together with a click of the mouse or a tap of the screen, again without any forwarding settings. i.e. It's great for keeping personal and/or work accounts separate, and it also allows multiple signatures which helps relay professionalism, consistency and saves a little typing, too.
    Select Multiple Messages:
A person can select multiple messages (even from different email accounts or email providers), and move, copy, delete, or even forward them all at the same time with a single action.
    Work Offline:
It allows a person to continue working offline. i.e. no matter if Wi-Fi or the internet goes down or is unavailable in a certain area.
Advanced Rules and Filtering Based on Multiple Factors:
A person can set rules or advanced rules and filtering based on multiple factors (words, senders, subjects, headers, etc.)
    Quick Look:
And, if you’re on a Mac, you can used features like "Quick Look" to view full Microsoft Office or Apple iWorks (Pages, Numbers, or Keynote) documents right inside your Mail App.
    No Extra Apps to Download:
As it's already pre-installed on all Apple computers and iOS devices, so it's one less App to download or maintain.
Mac and iOS Versions Both Work Similarly:
Both the desktop and mobile versions work very similarly.
    Easy to Maintain:
Apple automatically maintains it with each System Update, which is great for security, too.
Attachments are Easy (with less importing/exporting):
Working with attachments is super easy without any external importing or exporting (for example: items can be imported and exported directly to and from iPhoto, Contacts, Calendars etc. without any duplication).
It takes full advantage of the built in systemwide OS X / iOS features that popup:
    Spell Checker
    User Learned Spell Checker
    Dictation and Speak Selection
    Full Thesaurus (no internet required)
Full built in Oxford Dictionary (no internet required)
Wikipedia (on demand with an internet or data plan connection)

  • HT1349 How do i print documents in pages, if I'm not using an AirPrint printer. But I'm using printer pro.

I was wondering if maybe an update for pages. So when we actually finish a document in pages and select print it would immediately print or have the open in option there already, so we can print via 3rd party apps like printer pro.? Maybe something we can look forward too.
    Thanks

    Hi indy-girl,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are trying to print 6 3/4" envelopes from your HP Officejet Pro 8600, but keep getting an error 'printer that it is not set for the right size'. After taking a look at the Supported envelopes sizes, the 6 3/4 is not supported. See below:
I was able to take a look at the 8600, the only thing I am seeing listed on the paper tray is Legal/Letter, and the 4x6". I am not seeing the 6 3/4 size.
    I hope this helps!
    Thanks,

  • How to upload a document from Pages to a website in Google chrome?

I wish to upload a document from Pages to a website in Google chrome via the "choose File" button on the site. The problem is I online get the options of my Photo library. Is this even possible and if so can anyone help me?

The only browser I know of that will accomodate document uploading is iCab Mobile (could be others in the app store I am unaware of). iCab contains its own document repositor (Downloads).

  • How to print wide documents in Pages?

I've made oversize sketches in Pages, 21-inch by 21-inch, and need to print them in multiple letter-size pages, which I can then paste together.  When I try to print I get just one letter-size page with one part of the drawing.  How do I get the whole thing?

Pages can't tile custom page sizes. Export the document to PDF. Open it and tile it in free PosteRazor. It has worked fine for me.

  • How do I compare documents in Pages (they way you can do it, with redline, in Word)?

Hi, I'm trying to compare two versions of a document and need to see a redline, but can't seem to figure out if this is possible in Pages. Any ideas?

Pages ABSOLUTELY has a track changes feature, and it ABSOLUTELY shows track changes when an MS Word doc is opened. It does not automatically accept them, either.
Now... I wish someone could tell me how to combine a version of a doc without track changes on, with a prior version that has track changes on (someone sent me a final doc and forgot to leave the tracking on!)

  • How to transfer a document from pages 5.5.1 to iPhoto 9.6?

I just got a new macbook from Santa.  A macbook pro  os x 10.10.1
In my older version of pages, when I was finished with a document I could press print and send the document to iPhoto as a picture.
In the new version pages 5.5.1, how can I make a document  transfer to iPhoto 9.6?
    Thank you very much,
    Nicholas Poetker

Create a new Automator Print Plugin. I just put one together using two actions that splits Pages documents into images, and then places those images into iPhoto. In the latter, they are entered as date-stamped untitled events. You should click on that event heading and change it to the original document name. When you build this plug-in, you will see that there are some options in the individual actions.
If you need to edit the Automator Print Plugin, simply Launch Automator and choose File > Open Recent.
Usage: Pages v5.5.1: File > Print > PDF > PDF to iPhoto
Click the Launchpad icon in your Dock.In the center of the screen, you will see an Other categoryClick once, and then click once again on the Automator icon

Drag and drop below previous action in workflow
Configure as needed (e.g. I used existing album, Photos)

  • How can I organize my custom pages?

I'm trying to organize where my custom pages are so I don't have to hunt & peck every time on the drop down. Can I arrange these pages? See image.

Actually the link shared by Peter was the option till Cs4 as there was no option to create the Custom Page Size, however from CS5 onward the option was included within Document Setup window.
The Custom page size are included in the preferences at the below location, so Preference would be a bad idea:-
    C:\Users\manish\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign\Version 8.0\en_US\Page Sizes
    as the XML file.
If you want to change the listing , open the XML in Wordpad and move the "SA Web" and "NSC Web" over the "Well_web"
The way this drop down list the page size is the sequence they are written in XML file.
NOTE:- Do make the back up of preferences before making any changes.

  • How to import PDF document to Pages

I am attempting to import a LaTex created PDF book into Pages so I can add and introduction, etc.. to the book and further refine some of the paging and print style.  This used to be possible in AppleWorks but seems to be missing in pages and now requires all editing to be done by purchasing full Adobe Acrobat which is extremely costly for a non corporate user.  I have also attempted to use several applications that purport to be able to edit PDF Doc direct but NONE of them, so far, retain the original paging information therefore rendering them USELESS for any practical use.
Does anyone know of a widget/etc that can be added to Pages that would open the document as a Pages document while retaining ALL paging information?
    Sparkgapper

I would dearly like to be able to fix LaTex to output a Pages document but that is waaayayyayayay beyond my capabilities and I doubt the developers of LaTex would even want to try so that is totally out of the question.  The next possibility would be to develop some kind of macro script that would do the same thing but again that is beyond my capabilities.
I just check DataViz and they show an old MacLinks that seems to be able to convert PDF to CWK (WP) file.  I also remember one from my OLD Apple IIGS (1992) days that had the same capability but that could not be proted to the Mac and I used it quite a lot somewhat later after I started genealogical research for downloading page files.
Thanks to all who answered and we may as well call this one unsolvable.
