HT3406 How to update from 3.1.3 ver to a higher ver.

How to update from 3.1.3 ver to a higher ver.

Update it from iTunes on a computer as described at the bottom of this article; devices running an iOS version prior to 5.0 can't be updated straight from the device. It will be updated to the newest iOS release supported by the device’s hardware.
The maximum iOS version for the original iPhone and first generation iPod touch is 3.1.3.

Check to make sure you don't have two firewalls (i.e. a Windows firewall and one on your router).
If that's not it, you may need to dig deeper ... like temporarily changing your router's DNS to use Google's DNS or OpenDNS instead of your ISP's DNS.  Or maybe open up a certain port on your router (not sure which one that would be though, sorry).  Or, if your computer is connected to the internet over wi-fi, try connecting to your router (or modem) via Ethernet, I heard of that solving a problem like this (though I can't confirm if that was real).

What do you mean unlocked one?  You are talking about software updates here and software updates are free and for a 3gs you can only update to 6.1.3 as you have already been told.
If you are talking about phones themselves, then this is totally different and you need to be more specific or get your question right.
There is no unlocked software update - it s free.

  • How to update from 3.1.3 to 4.3.3, but not to 4.3.5?

Hi, I want to know how to update from 3.1.3 to 4.3.3, while the newest iOS version is 4.3.5
I think Apple won't let me update to 4.3.3. Does anybody know how to do it?
Your answer would be deeply appreciated. Thank you

UPDATE TO IOS 4.3 MANUALLY(CANNOT UPDATE TO 4.3 BY APPLE SOFTWARE UPDATE)
FIRST= Download the iOS 4.3 IPSW file for your device FROM NET
SECOND- Connect your device to the computer using the USB cable and wait for iTunes to detect it.
THIRD- Once your device has been detected – follow the steps given below for different OS.
For Windows – Hold the Shift key and then click on the "Check for Update/Update" button.
For Mac OS X – Hold the Option key and then click on the "Check for Update/Update" button.
    4-
In the next dialog browse to the file that you downloaded from Step 1 and select the IPSW file.
    5
iTunes will now use the IPSW file and update your device to iOS 4.3. The process should take around 10-20 minutes.
That’s it. Your device will be updated to iOS 4.3 with ease.

  • Complete mac virgin! How to update from 10.3.7

I brought an imac g5 off of eBay. Local so I know who from. My daughter yanked out the power cable when I had it on, this froze the whole system. After a few weeks I figured I how to reinstall the dics! I was told it was running 10.6.8, but it now says 10.3.7 ): is this the reason I can't download transmission? Or any utorrents. It asks me to update safari but won't let me do that either. Any SIMPLE advice would be great!

    Hi Amelia,
Yes, you can update from 10.3.7 to 10.3.9, no problem.
You should then have the other updates available in your Software Update (Apple menu): remember to choose "Install & Keep Package" if you want to keep backups.
The safest way to update: download the Combo Update from Apple Downloads here:
    - Mac OS X Combined Update 10.3.9
    Warning: Before the update,
    BACK UP FIRST. Then,
    1) Uninstall Norton Systemworks completely.
Use the Removal Utility (click this --> Norton Support), then use Finder's Find (⌘F) to search for any "Norton" and "Symantec" files left, and delete them.
    2) Run the "cron" scripts and clean users caches with OnyX or whatever other cache-cleaning utility you use.
    3) Restart from your Panther Install DVD and run a Disk Repair with Disk Utility.
If you have DiskWarrior, it is a good time to use it too.
    4) Restart your computer (normally, from Macintosh HD) and run a Permissions Repair with Disk Utility.
    5) Unplug all periphericals, iPods, external HD etc. Just keep the speakers, keyboard and mouse.
    6) Install the Combo Update.
    7) After the required Restart, Repair Permissions AGAIN with Disk Utility.
    8) When you use Software Update for the further updates, remember to Repair Permissions again after each install or update.
    No hurry with Software Update.
Tip: it is safer to install/update only one software at a time.
    Good luck!

  • How to update from 10.5.8 to snow leopard

well ive just bought my macbook off a friend and it hasnt been updated since 2009, how do i update it?
ive downloaded the software but i think i need to change the destination of installation, i dont have a clue how to change this.
I was also wondering if there is anyway i can update from 10.5.8 to the latest without having to install every other thing first?
    Thanks

The title of your request and your post don't say the same thing .... So .......
To upgrade to OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, you have to call the online Apple store, which in the US is 800-MY-APPLE and order the DVD. Install, Software Update until no more updates, and you'll be at OS X 10.6.8, with App Store access and can load iTunes 7, if that's on your list.
If your new-to-you has OS X 10.5.8, you can't upgrade the operating system any further without purchasing them. If you have 1GB+ of memory and some free disk space, you can upgrade to 10.6.  Then you can upgrade directly to Mountain Lion, if your MacBook is a late 2008 aluminum or early 2009 model, and has at least 2GB of memory (4GB recommended).  Mountain Lion is only available thru download from the App Store, hence the reason to upgrade to Snow Leopard.

  • How to update from 4.9 to 5.5

How do i update from 4.9 to 5.5? I have tried to get the update through Tools-Get Updates, but that says could not be downloaded, ty again later. Tech Support says to buy online or at store(Staples, etc).
    How do I proceed?
    thanks

Network Magic Ver.: 5.5.9195.0-Pure0; Connection: Brighthouse Road Runner; Modem: Linksys; Router: Linksys WRT54G; Firmware: 4.21; XP Home SP 3 Laptop: Wireless; XP Home SP 3 Desktop: Wired; Norton Internet Security 2009; Spy Sweeper 6.1
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hi Retired07, 5.5 is a paid upgrade ($25) for 4.9 users.  Before upgrading, please note that 5.5 does not support Net2Go, and if you need to use Net2Go, you should make sure the computer that uses Net2Go on your network does not get updated to 5.5, you can intermix 4.9 and 5.5 systems on your network.
    To upgrade, follow these instructions:
    1. Write down your actviation key (In Help>About), you will need it.
    2. Go to http://store.purenetworks.com/storefront/add-to-cart-simple.ep?skuCode=NMPU&qty=1 and type in your product key to purchase the upgrade.
    3. Uninstall NM 4.9 on the computers you want to upgrade 5.5 to.
    4. After the reboot, delete the Network Magic Directory in c:/Program Files/Pure Networks, delete temp files and run disk clean up, reboot again.
    5. Go to http://www.purenetworks.com/download/thankyou.php to download NM 5.5
    6. After the inital setup wizard, go to Tools>Actviate and enter in your actviation key, use the network map to remotely actviate your other newly upgraded 5.5 systems.
I know there are a lot of steps there but upgrading from 4.9 to any 5.x release has been a problem for some users in the past, thats why I recomend a clean install of NM 5.x on systems that have had 4.9 installed.
    My Cisco Network Magic Configuration:
Router: D-Link WBR-2310 A1 FW:1.04, connected to Comcast High Speed Internet
Desktop, iMac: NM is on the Windows Partition, using Boot camp to access Windows, Windows 7 Pro 32-bit RTM, Broadcom Wireless N Card, McAfee Personal Firewall 2009,
Mac Partition of the iMac is using Mac OS X 10.6.1 Snow Leopard
Laptop: Windows XP Pro SP3, Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG, McAfee Personal Firewall 2008
Please note that though I am a beta tester for Network Magic, I am not a employee of Linksys/Cisco and am volunteering my time here to help other NM users.

  • How to update from Yosemite Beta 6 to Public Release?

Does anyone know how to upgrade from the Yosemite Beta (6th release) to the final release? I don't think Apple is suggesting it, but I'm not going to roll back to Mavericks to then upgrade to Yosemite again, but I want to make sure my OS isn't stuck on the 6th Preview.
When I go to the App Store to update, it says I'm already on Yosemite, but still shows "Download" as an option. Want to be sure I'm not missing something.
    Thanks!

When I look in "about this mac" - it says Yosemite 10.10. Do I really need to download it again?
I found on a blog that someone contacted the Apple service:
“simply install the final version of the software you are testing when it appears in Software Update” – that means the final version of the beta software you are given to test is what will be made public. So we’re on the same build as what is now in the App Store.
My compute OSX is 10.10 but build is (14A388b) while some say that app store version is (build 14A389).
Does it really make a difference? If I don't download it will it continue to update?

  • How to update from WSUS 3.2 SP2 running on Windows 2008 R2 to WSUS 4.0

Hello, with WSUS 4.0 already in the market, is it adviseable to update from WSUS 3.2 SP2? I am looking at a bare installation of WSUS 4.0 in Server 2012 R2, from basic looks I have not seen yet anything different. We have 12 WSUS servers
servicing a wide area, and before going ahead with any update of this infrasturture I would like to know of anyone has gone this upgrade path yet? Thanks
    Shahidul

is it adviseable to update from WSUS 3.2 SP2?
I don't think it's critical to upgrade to WSUS v6 at this time, unless your WSUS v3.2 server is still running on a 32-bit system (or any form of WS2003). If you're running WSUS v3.2 on WS2008/WS2008R2 (x64), then those platforms will continue to be supported
until 2020, so there's no immediate need. However, if you're contemplating a major migration of all systems to Win8/WS2012 environments, then it makes sense to migrate the WSUS server also. If you expect to have Win7/WS2008R2 systems online for the foreseeable
future, then WSUS v3.2 x64 will continue to meet your needs.
I am looking at a bare installation of WSUS 4.0 in Server 2012 R2, from basic looks I have not seen yet anything different.
The most notable difference is a much richer PowerShell interface, so if you're inclined to use PowerShell to manage WSUS, that would be an advantage.
A notable disadvantage is that you can only partially manage a WSUS v6 system from a Windows 7 workstation: Local publishing requires that activity to be performed from the same generation of system. For example, WSUS v6.3 can only be published to from a
WS2012R2 or Win8.1 system; WSUS v6.2 can only be published to from a WS2012 or Win8.0 system. This is due to internal dependencies on the BUILD number of the WSUS API.
I suspect the dependency was a manifestation of protecting WSUS v2 and WSUS v3 systems back in 2007 (local publishing was first introduced in WSUS v3.0), but with SIX possible builds of WSUS now available, it's becoming a major PITA!
