HT3462 does the person need to have an iphone in order for me to communicate with them?

I want to text someone who doesn't have an iphone or internet on their phone, is it person to use ichat to contact them?

Hi,
You can use SMS if the person is in thre United States and uses the "right" carrier.
Up to at least iChat 5 (Snow Leopard) the Computer could be set as if is were in the United States and the SMS options would show in the File Menu and Buddies menu of iChat.
This is set in System Preferences > Language and Text  (in the Personal row before you get to the Security and Privacy/Firewall one)
The phone number could then be added as if it were a Buddy to the Buddy list with a leading + 1 as in +1234567890.
That phone has to be in the United States on one of these Carriers
By the time Messages comes along in Mountain Lion the SMS menu items disappear even though the app can still send SMS to AIM "phone Buddies"
I am not sure about OS X 10.7.x and iChat 6.x as I don't have a computer that can run that version at the moment (well I do but it is running Mountain Lion)

  • Does the recipent need to have adobe or acrobat in order to view images sent

do the recepients of images sent with adobe send have to have adobe to view.
also, for adobe cloud storage, how much space can i get. how does it work

    Hi robyngoldberg1,
Acrobat.com offers 5 GB of free storage (there currently isn't an option to purchase additional storage).
If you're sending images (JPEGs, TIFFs, and so on) via Adobe Send, your recipients will just need an application that supports that file type (such as Preview on Mac OS).

  • 9i app 9.0.2.01?Does the reverse DNS lookup have to be set up for a FQDN

    HEy guys:
I'M ALWAYS GETTING STUCK IN THE SAME PLACE WHEN I AM TRYING TO INSTALL 9I APPSERVER 9.0.2.0.1 REL 2. ITS ALWATYS HAPPENING AT THE oRACLE db CONFIG assistant i have set up my host file and when i ping -a servername i get the full reply back ex. servername.domain.com but now when i ping -a 111.111.111.111 i do not get the host name back this is b/c i do not have the PTR record set up. Do i have to have a reverse dnslookup working for what oracle is stating is "FQDN" and not just the dns lookup working...how is oracle installer looking at this piece.
that is the only i see that i don't have when i look at my computer name (by the way this is a winnt environment)in properties it has the FQDN. i also have set up the host file correctly resembling 111.111.111.111 servername.domainname.com servername oracleinstall. What else am i missing here guys? thanks for the help in advance
    regards,
    robert

Actually, these issues were/are documented - see the addendum. Also, the install guide details which files need to be updated with the FQDN/IP.
Though it does not have to be setup in your DNS server (say if you are just doing it on a single tier to test), those machines which are looking to connect to it would need to have the proper additions to the hosts file as well.
As for why the 'non-default' http ports, this was a result of Unix security. Non-root users cannot start processes using ports below a specific range. As a result, oracle defaults them to a higher number allowing your oracle account whom lacks root access to start the http service.
As for non-oracle responses, this isn't really an official forumn. I believe those oracle peeps who do respond here are doing so on their own. If you need official/immediate responses, then i would recommend using metalink for an itar or the metalink forums.
Now on to Robert's second question. See metalink Note:209114.1: How to Change the Port used for Oracle 9iAS Portal 9.0.x. If you don't have access to metalink, let me know and I can forward the note or post it here.

    Dear Forums,
Apologies for the simple question but the docs do not speak to this question explicitly:
Do the analog input lines on the 7831R FPGA module have any kind of on-board anti-aliasing?

Does the Basic LGVX 8360 have ability to text?

Yes, you can text with that phone. You can send a message by either going through a contact or through Messaging in the main menu. If you don't add a text messaging package, I believe it's 25 cents per text sent and received.
Here's a link to the LG page for that device, where you can find the product manual.

  • Why does the i5 add a contact to my contacts list for every person I have ever emailed?  My 4 didn't.

Why does the i5 add a contact to my contacts list for every person I have ever emailed using Outlook and Gmail?  The i4 didn't have this issue.

    Hi drewskiiiiiiiii,
If you are having issues with your iPhone's Contacts application acting oddly, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
Force an app to close in iOS
Next, I would try restarting and if needed resetting the iPhone -
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups

  • Does a person need Adobe Reader in order to use a fillable PDF form?

I have created a fillable form using Acrobat XI and I find that some persons are unable to use it  while others are.  Does a person need Adobe Reader to use the fillable  form?  If so, how easy is it to download?
    Thank you

    Hi kenmilw,
Reader is an excellent, and free, option for your recipients who need to fill out your form. It's easily downloaded from www.adobe.com/products/reader.html. You can also use the Fill & Sign service on Acrobat.com to fill any PDF form.
What troubles are your recipients encountering? And those who do have trouble--how are they filling out the form?

  • Where does the personalized page definition exist in the database?

    Hey all,
Where does the personalized page definition exist in the database(which top)? From the functional adminitartor i see the path as "/oracle/apps/ar/creditmgt/analysis/casefolder/webui/customizations/responsibility/12345/pagename.xml" where does this structure actually exist in the file system? i want to know the header package or root directory of "/oracle/apps/ar/creditmgt/analysis/casefolder/webui/customizations/"
one more question the gurus is if i want to migrate a personalization from on instance to another should i have the same above folder structure?
Like i export the customized page from my T1 test instance to T1 file system now i move this to T2 file system...now in my T2 file system should i have similar structure like "XX_TOP/oracle/apps/ar/creditmgt/analysis/casefolder/webui/customizations/" for successful migration?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sameer.T

You perobably need someone more 'tecchie' than me to answer the first question. But, the structure will already exist as it is built into the application.
To answer your second question, to transfer the personalisation from one instance to the other, you can use the Functional Administrator responsibility. Your DBA will need to create a 'common' directory which is available to both instances. If the two instances cannot 'talk to each other', then he may have to FTP the XML files from one instance to the other.
When you export from instance A, the appropriate structure will be built underneath the root 'transfer' directory described above. In the target environment, you import the same structure.
As personalisations are at various levels, e.g. responsibility, function etc. Beware that at the responsibility level, the match between the responsibility name on the source and target systems is done by the responsibikity key. As long as this is the same in both environments, the personalisation will be transferred. If it is different it won't work!
I hope this helps answer the question.
    Regards
    Tim

  • Does the new mac mini have Hdmi 1.4?

I'm thinking about buying a Mac mini in combination with a 3D monitor but every where on the Internet they are talking about HDMI 1.4a or something like that... Is it necessary? And does the Mac mini (2012) have it?

Not certain, but it says here that 1.4 does not support 3-D, that 1.4a is needed...

  • What does the DBA need to do to grant privileges so I can CREATE DIRECTORY

    Hello,
What does the DBA need to do in order to grant privileges to:
    CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY douglas_my_files as 'C:\Documents and Settings';
This is what SQL Navigator says:
    [1]: (Error): ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
    Thanks
    Doug

Also, note that a directory object can only point to a directory on the database server, not on your client machine... Unless you have your own My Documents folder on the database, which would be a tad unusual, this probably won't work regardless of the permissions your DBA gives you.

  • Does the DOA need to be an session bean as well?

    Hi there,
I been working in this problem for days, I am a bit confuse, I have created a session bean which contains biz logic and EAO layer,
    I understand that we can get the persistence in EJB with @PersistenceContext private EntityManager em;
Correct me if I am wrong I am a bit sceptical to use the em in the session bean. (there been lot of arguments stated that we need to ditch the DAO)
BUT, still I would want use EntityManager in the EAO layer because of the mobility of the DAO layer in the future.
So I have implemented DAO design pattern at below but is not working, is giving me:
Unable to get an Entity Manager Instance
javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: No object bound to name java:comp/env/persistence/em
I am so confuse, does the DAO need to be a session bean as well?
Edited by: lizaliz on Aug 13, 2009 8:15 AM

Using the EM in a session bean is one of the preferred ways of manageing persistence. Take a look at *'Pro EJB 3'* by Mike Keith and Merrick Schincariol. Extracts are avialable on google books - they give a good overview of using this approach.
It is a bit weird initially as with EJB 2 you had your session beans (business tier) and your entity beans for the data tier so using a session bean seemed to conflict with what was recognised. And besides if you want to inject a Persistence Context or Factory you need to do it in a managed class - like an EJB!

  • Does the iTunes Store still have $4.99 movies?

Does the iTunes Store still have $4.99 movies? If they do, how do you find them? It seems that the iTunes Store no longer links to discounted movies.

Thanks to Jesse M for the "See all >>" suggestion, which is better than nothing, and to iNexxFear for all your hard work, but I absolutely need the search results to come up with full functionality. The possibility of searching painstakingly by separate categories for Composer, Album etc. merely puts me at the mercy of the overworked, undereducated interns who have to type in such information, unaided of course by iTunes' hopelessness at categorising anything other than pop songs.
However, I've found a fantastic solution of my own. It's called Amazon. Only 69p a track. Searching isn't perfect, but it's far better than this appalling leap backwards by Apple.
Yes, I'm upset. But I see the thin end of a wedge that's turning Apple into Microsoft.

    Hello,
All Skype calls worldwide are "local" calls. Whether or not your contact is charged by their carrier depends entirely on the cellphone Calling Plan they have. Skype makes no charge.
In any case the charge, if any, would only be a few cents as the call will be treated as "local".

I recommend that you always run the latest Skype version: Windows & Mac
