Can i connect my 1st gen ipad to my HP photosmart C4780

In order to print from an iOS device, the printer must be AirPrint-enabled. If it is not, you have a number of options to still do so. One of them is PrintCentral.

iPad 1's can only be updated to IOS 5.1.1. The iPad 1 doesn't have the processing power to handle any higher.

  • If I purchased book on iPad 3, can I share on 1st gen iPad

I downloaded a booI on 3rd gen iPad in iBook. Can I sync this Book onto my 1st gen ipad into iBook. Both iPads have 64gb. Is it possible to put anything on 1st gen iPads?

You might be able to - what does the book's description page in the store say that it's compatible with ?
If you don't already have the iBooks app on your first gen iPad then, and if the app isn't already in it, download the current version on your computer's iTunes so that the app is in your account's purchase history. Then on your first gen iPad go to the Purchased tab in the App Store app on it and you should be able to download an older compatible version of it.
If the book is compatible with that version of the iBooks app it should show in the Purchased tab in the iBookstore in the app for redownloading on it

  • How can I update my 1st gen iPad

I can't update the first gen iPad - can anyone help me with this proble.

First Generation iPads cannot be updated past iOS 5.1.1.
Why do you want to do this?

  • 1st Gen iPad won't connect to my home router. EVER. Refuses to connect to my wifi.

HELP ME PLEASE WITH THIS 1st GEN IPAD refusing to connect to Wi-Fi ISSUE
It shows up as having full signal, and shows the name of our network. But go to Safari and try to go do anything and it spins and spins then tells me "Cannot Open Page...Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding."  Well...it never responded in the first place, so....
Apple says it works fine on their in-house system when we took it in. Told us to call Comcast. More than once, Comcast walked me through 20 mins of reconfiguring the router and the iPad and multiple phone calls and a trip to Comcast later...no go.They say it's Apple's problem now or that I have to buy a special Comcast technical support account for further help --- which doesn't guarantee anything....
This is rather BS to have this unusable thing for so long and now be expected to pay MORE money to get something like this working....and why won't anyone take responsibility? It cannot be that big a deal.
We now have been unable to use our expensive iPad for about 4 months or more. What the heck am I supposed to do? Throw it in the trash take the huge loss as a life lesson to not bother paying Apple prices for stuff that only works for a few months before some glitch or software issue makes it unusable without having to buy a new unit or pay someone to keep trying only to hear '...sorry, call someone else...'*
*Same thing happened with my perfecctly perfect dual G5 tower...motherboard burned out for no reason. Paid 1200 to replace that...then a year later the other main board fries...on a computer that barely ever got used...ended up having to literally give it away on Craigslist and buy a new iMac...which then made all my expensive music software and projects unusable. So I have about three years of special music project files sitting on a harddrive that will never be able to be used.
...I'm beyond frustrated since all we wanted the iPad for in the first place was to be able to check some websites and emails...help me help me.

If the iPad works on other Wi-Fi systems then I'd have to agree that it is your own router causing the problem. To be sure take your iPad to a Starbucks or your library and a few other places than have Wi-Fi and test it out. If it works in those locations you'll need to talk to Comcast some more and be assertive. Something could have failed in your router.
Regarding your hard disk full of music. Put it in an enclosure and connect it to your Mac. Other World Computing sells all sorts of hard drive enclosures that you can install your drive in.
Computers can be frustrating but solutions are sometimes just around the corner.

  • 1st Gen iPad re-syncs every book/pdf each time it is connected to iTunes

Hey everyone.  Perhaps this has been asked/solved before, but I couldn't find a link.  I have the 1st gen iPad (ancient) 64gb WiFi/3G with 200+ books, pdfs, documents, etc in iBooks.  Each time I connect my iPad to iTunes, it syncs quickly, until step 7; and then proceeds to re-sync every single book, pdf, document within iBooks.  It does not sync un-checked documents.
    I've tried:
    1. Restoring
    2. Complete erase and re-install (2x)
    3. Magic
    4. Complete erase of every document and reuploading them in iTunes
Not quite sure what to do.  Syncs take 10+ minutes now, even to add one new document.
    How can I fix this?
    Thanks!

I would try set it to not sync books at all
    sync
    disconnect it
    reconnect it
set it to sync books again
    sync

  • 1st gen iPad won't connect to iTunes

I have a 1st gen iPad that won't connect to iTunes.  My macbookpro is up to date on all software installations.  The software on the iPad is version 4.2.1  I am connecting with the factory USB cable and it does seem to be making a connection...the iPad begins charging (we've never had chargin problems with it) and it connects with iPhoto.  I've restarted both the computer and the iPad.  I want to update the software on the iPad but can't as it doesn't connect with iTunes.  Any help would be much appreciated.

bueller?  bueller?  Any advice on where to go for help?

  • 1st Gen iPad, can't restore on any computer

I was given a 1st gen 16Gb wifi ipad at work.
The ipad was functioning and I decided to restore to factory settings to clear our all the prior users info and be able to sync to my iTunes.
Seemed to be going well enough until I got to the screen that shows the USB cable with the arrow to iTunes...
now I can't detect the iPad on any computer so I can't complete the restore.
I've tried my late 2011 Macbook Pro with Mountain Lion fully updated, my 2007 Mac mini with Lion, my family PC with windows 7, and my work PC with windows 7. None of them detect the iPad being connected... the PC's don't show the device in "my computer" and iTunes on the Macs don't show the device.
All of the above machines can detect my iPhone, no problem.
I've tried 6 different cables of varying ages.
The iPad doesn't even make the connection bleep noise when plugged into a computer.. it does when plugged into a charger.
I charged it to 100% with the original 10 W charger.
I've gone through all the different techniques of holding buttons and such, but the bottom line seems to be I just cannot connect to a computer.
Could the prior owner have it so it can only connect to his computer and I'll have to restore from that machine?
Thanks for reading. I look forward to any further advice before making an appointement at the Apple Store.

I had the same problem with my 1st gen iPad,(my iPad would not power up even when connected to the charger) I held down the home and reset button and "voila" my iPad powered up. I hope this helps someone in the same predicament
1st gen iPad won't power on, even when connected to the wall charger. Help, please!

MY 1st gen iPad has candy crush ---but it is stuck in "an update mode". My iPad can no longer acceptsupdates for any games beyond 5.1. Therefore, each time I try to access the game it goes into a "pause" mode. I would hate to delete the game because I think I will lose my score. But I can't play the game either.  Can someone help me with this?  Can I go back to my last updated candy crush for my ipad, or do I have to delete it and start over?  Also, how would I get the one for my generation iPad

I have a similar problem. But my iPad shows the connect iTunes screen and gives error 2001 when I try to restore it.
My iPad's battery was fine but I didn't use it for like 2 weeks. It's battery would've discharged and it turned off. When I tried to charge through wall socket, it got into the restart loop where it would show apple logo and turn off. So I did the simultaneous holding of Home and Sleep buttons for 10 seconds or more. It started showing connect to iTunes.
When I try to restore, the iTunes does the usual "extracting file" or something and go upto preparing for restore. But the iPad screen turns off from "connect to iTunes" and iTunes gives the error 2001, and the screen is back to connect to iTunes.
Also, if I don't plug in, the iPad seems dead, doesn't wake up or anything.

  • How can I move music from my 1st gen iPad to my new 3rd gen iPad

How can I move all the music on my 1st gen iPad to my new 3rd gen ipad?

Transfer the music into iTunes on your computer and then sync the new iPad with iTunes.
Or download all of the purchased music on the new iPad. You can download the songs again for free  in the Purchased Tab of the iTunes App  as long as you use the same Apple ID that you used to buy the songs with originally.

  • Can't use Photoshop Touch on 1st Gen iPad?

App store won't let me download and install it on my 1st gen iPad 'cause it doesn't have a camera.  It doesn't NEED a camera, does it?  I've got tons of photos in iphoto on my ipad and I receive photos in my email and via wifi.  Does anyone know how I can use Photoshop touch on an ipad without having to buy a NEW iPad?

Are you selecting the albums to sync correctly? ...
Put Checkmark in "Sync Photos from iPhoto"  ...
Click button next to "All Photos" or next to "Selected albums .... include ..."
Select the albums, events and so on that you want to sync - with a checkmark next to each ....
Then click apply in the lower right corner of the iTunes window

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • What can I do with airplay and 1st gen iPad?

I just set up my new 2nd gen atv.  I have a 1st gen iPad.  Besides using it for movies, photos. what else can I do with Airplay. I've seen posts about using it for games such as racing but I looked at a couple of racing games I have and don't see how to send it to my tv like a movie.  Any help is much appreciated!

Websites and third party Apps need enabling before they will allow AirPlay of Video content. Some Website/App developers have not enabled their products, some simply haven't got around to it yet, others have stated that they won't be enabling AirPlay (likely as a result of licensing issues).
I have created a User Tip to list Apps that have been tested with Video Airplay, if you have any Apps that you have tested please leave details in the comments at the bottom of the User Tip or email me if you don't have commenting privileges.

  • Connect a 4th gen iPad via tether?

I ordered a 4th gen iPad today (for work, wifi only) and I already have a 1st gen iPad at home.
I use a late 2012 Mac-Mini at work and we do have wifi.  However, where I am in the building there is no wifi due to the building itself (old TV station).
I was wondering if it is possible to have the iPad connected directly to the mini and still be able to use internet features with no wifi.
Basically, tethering the iPad to the mini will the USB cable be able to use the mini's internet?  Is that possible?
Or I guess instead just use a Airport Express and use it that way in my office?
    Thoughts? Thanks.

I only want to connect the new iPad since I would be at work.  Sorry if that was confusing.  The mini refers to a Mac-Mini not a iPad mini.
So can you connect a iPad with no internet due to no wifi signal to a Mac-Mini using the USB cable and use that to access the internet through the Mac-Mini?]
    No.
However, you can use the Mac mini, connected to the internet via ethernet cable, and create a wifi network to share with the iPad. You are using the Mac mini to create a wifi hotspot.
