Everytime i try to activate my imessages it says could not sign in. please check your connectio n and try again. my connection is fine. why can't it activate my account?
1. Make sure software is up to date
2. Make sure Messages is enabled; Settings>Messages
3. Make sure Date and Time is correctly set; Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>On
4. Make sure Push Notification is enabled
5. Make sure phone number or email address is correct
6. Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together) until you see the Apple Logo

Try this... I had the same problem and this worked for me.
Go to your system preferences → network → make sure WI-FI selected → advanced → DNS tab. Add 8.8.8.8 to the DNS servers. Go back to FaceTime and try to verify your account again.

When I try to activate iMessage it says: could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again.
- Make sure that Settings>General>Date&Time is set to Automatic
- Go to Settings>wifi>the connected network and change the DNS to Google's 8.8.8.8 -
When trying to activate facetime get the message i get "could not sign in. Please check network connections

Try this... I had the same problem and this worked for me.

on my ipod touch i have wi fi connection but when i try to activate imessages and try and enter my Apple ID, it comes up with error saying could not sign in, check your network connections and try again!!!
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings then restart your iPod.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button down until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears. -

Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4000Not sure if you have tried adding 8.8.8.8 to the DNS servers yet or if your messages app is a problem as well. for me the only fix was as follows:
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/IdentityServices
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. Log out or restart the computer, empty the Trash, and test.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
Basically drag the items in the identityservices folder to trash log out, log back in, empty trash, start messages or facetime!!

So ive been facing some problems with my imessage just recently. It happened abruptly just after 5 minutes of my last message to my friend. Ever since then i can no longer send messages with each one saying it failed. I have used iMessage on both my iPad and iPhone for successfully, using the same Apple ID. However since I upgraded to IOS 7.0 .4 on my iPhone recently, it has turned off iMessage. When I try to turn it back on again and login with my Apple ID, The message "could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again" appears. I have tried again numerous times. I have tried switching off iMessage on my iPad as well then try and switch on them both back on my iPad works but my iPhone does not. Can anyone help
-Deactivate iMessage on your iPhone
- Reset phone by holding both Home and Sleep buttons for about 10 seconds until Apple logo appears.
- If you have wifi where you are, temporarily disable it.
- Activate iMessage.
