ince updating my firefox browser whenever i click on an internet link in an email it does not open on firefox athough my mac switches to the firefox window as i have this set to be my default browser- what should i do?

I have the same problem, and I also wondered if Google toolbar has anything to do with it. There GMAIL was set as the default mail application at first. I have removed that setting, but Firefox 4.0.1 continues to use GMAIL instead of Outlook which is my selection for mailto handling.

  • When I tap on a link in an email, it doesn't open

When I tap on a link in an email, it doesn't open.  It used to work, I don't know what happened.  Did I change a setting somewhere?

No, you didn't change a setting. Try this and see if it fixes the problem.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

I believe that this is a problem for your ISP.  Their Customer Service should be able to help you.  There may be some settings that can be changed to solve the problem.  They would know what the settings should be.  I don't believe that it is a hardware problem.

  • Accessing links embedded in email messages fails on an iPad

Our iPad 2 can't open web links embedded in email messages from NY Times, Alternet, and other sites. Error messages is "Website is not available" or "Can't access server". Internet access works otherwise. Problem is the same regardless of whether IOS Gmail app or Apple Mail app is used. It also doesn't seem to matter which browser is used (we've tried Chrome and Safari).

    Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

  • Why date and time do not show as links in some email message in 4s?

why date and time do not show as links in some email message in 4s?

To add it back, tap the Edit button at the top of the list of mailboxes and select the missing email account so that it has a tick against it (you can also change their order in the list by dragging the parallel line icon to an account's right), tapping Done should then get it to show in the list

  • Since yesterday clicking on a link in an email message firefox doesn't open a new tab with that particular website.

I am using Firefox 3.6.13 on a 2009 Mac Pro computer (OSX 10.6.6). Up until yesterday when I clicked on a link in an email message Firefox opened a new tab and switched to that particular website. Since yesterday Firefox doesn't do that. I have Firefox set up as my default browser. I tried to change my default browser to Safari, then everything worked fine. Clicking on a link in a message a new tab has opened in Safari with that particular website. My problem is, that I like Firefox a bit more than Safari and I'd like to know what to do to restore that functionality to Firefox.

It's a good idea to try disabling Flash completely and see whether the problem continues. If it does, then my guess is incorrect. To test that, open this tab:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Plugins category
Here you can locate Shockwave Flash and use the Disable button. Keep this tab open for easy access when doing your test.
''If your test confirms that Flash is causing the problem,'' then the other thread has two suggested workarounds. The first is simple to understand (keep some Flash running at all times) but may be inconvenient to do all the time. The second is trickier because it requires editing a file in (or creating and then dragging a file into) a system folder. Fortunately you only need to do it once.

    HI Ana ...
I had FB working again two days ago, and yesterday in mid-serve Safari just "couldn't find the server" once more...
    That's a different issue...
First, if you can just use English, open System Preferences > Language & Text then select the Language tab. Drag English to the top of the list then restart your Mac.
Now for the server issue. Try using Open DNS. That shold help the "couldn't find the server" issue...
Open System Preferences / Preferences then select the Network tab. Click the Advanced tab then click the DNS tab.
    Click +
Enter these numbers exactly as you see them here.
    208.67.222.222
    Click +
    208.67.220.220
    Then click OK.
Try accessing Facebook on Safari now.

  • Email in inbox doesn't link to corresponding email message

starting yesterday, november 10, when i click on an email in my inbox sometimes it shows the correct email message and sometimes it shows a message from a long time ago. it is like the link from the inbox to the actual email is incorrect. has anyone else experienced this problem? there are emails i cannot access because it links to the wrong one.

You should rebuild your Mail index like this:
    1. Quit Mail if it's running.
    2. Go to ~/Library/Mail and delete the Envelope Index file(s).
    3. Restart Mail and wait for it to import your existing messages; then check to see if that resolves your problem.

  • Links received in email messages not clickable in Firefox

When a web address beginning with http:// is included in the body of an email message it does not show up as a clickable link in Firefox When the identical message is read using Outlook web access on a PC (running IE) the same address does appear as a clickable link.

One possible reason for differences between messages viewed in Firefox would be the format the sender used. For example, HTML and plain text messages may behave differently. In HTML, the link actually is in the message sent by the sender. In plain text, there are no links, but the desktop version of Outlook finds them and makes them clickable. Perhaps the same is true of the "Premium" version of OWA served to IE. Other browsers have long been second class citizens...
Maybe there is an add-on that fills in the missing functionality?

  • How to form a web page link in an email message ?

I am trying to include a webpage link in an email . Is this possible . I am using Thunderbird of course.

I'm using Vista OS and TB 31.0 .
I highlight some text in a new Write message eg: link to my website
    Insert > link
If I right click in the 'link Location' area and select 'paste', I see this error message:
error message: "(No named anchors or headings in this page)"
If I put cursor in 'Link location' area and use 'Ctrl+V' then the url is inserted. So this second method works for me.
There is also another work around:
    * highlight text in a new Write message eg: link to my website
    * Insert > link
    * type anything (even a single character eg: 'X') into the Link Location field.
    * click on the 'Advanced Edit' button in that same window.
The 'Advanced Property Editor' window opens. select the 'HTML Attributes' tab if not already selected.
Click/select/highlight the line with the new link you just created - it will show this info
Under 'Attribue' it will say 'href' and adjacent under 'Value' , it will show what you typed into the Link Location field even if just a letter eg: 'X'
At the bottom right locate 'Value', it will also show 'X'
    * highlight 'X' and right click and select 'paste'
    * Click OK to close Advanced Editor
    * click OK to insert link

  • Link to Individual Email Messages

You know how you can have a little file that links to a URL? Is there a way to have something like that that links to an individual email message? I'd like to have a folder in the Finder of various documents together with icons that bring up specific email messages. Googling around, I saw some applescripts from years ago that would do this, but they all seem outdated. And frankly, I'm looking for a solution that's super fast. If it takes numerous steps, I might as well just save a PDF of the email in the Finder folder. The advantage of linking to a message is that it lets me access the associated "conversation." Thanks for any suggestions.

    Nup, no can do.
What you can do is break the project up into chunks so that the slides you want to jump to appear at the start of a chunk.
    Does that make sense?

  • Everytime I open a internet link, on an email for example, it opens it up on firefox, is there a way i can open this on safari instead? For all of my links?

    Please help?

In Safari set the Default Browser to Safari. It seems it is now set to be Firefox.

  • How to execute a APEX process on click of link from a email message

I have a download procedure which will ask user wheather to save or open a file. This procedure uses standard "owa_util.mime_header","htp.p('Content-length" commands do do this. The procedure works fine. I'm sending a mail to user where this procedure is link to save or open a file. But for security reasons, I don't want to embed this procedure in the email, instead I want to redirect to APEX page. In the APEX page, I have put the procedure code in "onSubmit" process and it workd fine on clink of button. But I want to execute this process "Onload", so that user doesn't have click a button, all the user does click the link in email which will go to APEX page and ask wheather to save or open a file. any ideas are appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Surya

    Hi
Perhaps you could use an on-demand application process instead - you can specify these in the URL.
The URL syntax (for your link) would be like...
    f?p=application_id:page_id:session:APPLICATION_PROCESS=process_idIs this what you mean?
    Cheers
    Ben

  • Cannot open .eml attachments (attached RFC/822 email messages) in iPhone Mail - iOS 5.1

I cannot open attached emails (such as those in .eml format) in iOS mail, but I seem to recall this working in iOS 4. (Can't remember for sure.) Is anyone else having the same problem? For me they just show up as garbled pieces of headers, not even as attachments.
For more information see Can iOS open .eml files?

Am I really the only one out there who cannot open emails attached inside emails on the iPhone? I see 31 people have viewed this so far but no replies.
To make sure this wasn't a problem with my mail provider (an IMAP server on a proprietary Linux box), I also tried sending an email with an attached email to my me.com/iCloud account. Same problem there. The webmail interface on iCloud.com deals with the attachment just fine, but not the Mail app on the iPhone. It doesn't even display as an attachment on the iPhone.
