my appleid is from saudi iTunes Store
I'm so disappointed
1. Make sure software is up to date
2. Make sure Messages is enabled; Settings>Messages
3. Make sure Date and Time is correctly set; Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>On
4. Make sure Push Notification is enabled
5. Make sure phone number or email address is correct
6. Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together) until you see the Apple Logo

To resolve this i went to generals: App store and clicked on my apple id. when a pop up shows click on view Applie id account. There select the payment process and select NONE in the type of card instead of your visa or mastercard. save it and then you can try getting into facetime., It should be good. It worked for me. I had a power failure 2 days ago, my computer is running again, but now I cannot send email from my iPad using Cox or my gmail account. I am receiving mail in my Cox account but not my gmail account.It was working fine until the power failure. It keeps telling me, the user name or password for Gmail is incorrect. I have not changed anything. I don't know what is wrong. Can anyone help me? ThanksI agree, unplug and replug your router, then reset your iPad by holding down the sleep and home buttons, ignore the red power down slider, and wait til you see the silver apple. let it reboot and then try your connection.
Chances are rebooting the router will help. You may also need to talk to cox. They may need to reset something on their end. -

Never had trouble before with my incoming mail but just now getting messege that says the user name or password for verizon is incorrect yet my home computer is fine only have this od my iPad
I experienced same problem tonight and called Verizon technical support and they walked me through the settings on iPad. Took about 5 minutes. Basically it involved changing incoming.verizon.net to pop.verizon.net and changing outgoing.verizon.net to smtp.verizon.net. But it's worth the call to ensure other settings are OK. Evidently, change at Verizon was effective today!

I experienced a similar problem too. It happened overnight a few weeks ago after 11/19.
I got a pop up message, saying that my password needed to be reset.
So I reset my password, and ever since, I have not been able to read/send email from my icould @me.com acct.
Now I get the error: "The user name or password for "icloud" is incorrect" on my iOS devices, though it is correct enough for access my iTunes account and to log into http://icloud.com.
Interestingly enough, the issue seems to be related to the email only, since I cannot access icould email from the website either. It instead creates an error dump. -
I Can not open my email, Never had this problem... Message says: CAN NOT OPEN MAIL, The user name or password for "HOTMAIL" is incorrect.
What is going on???????Check your email settings (on your iPad) for that account and make sure the username and/or password are correct.

I also have the same error message " incorrect paasword" for my email acct...when i updated my iphone 4 to IS0 7. I went to my carrier and was told to delete acct and then add it again. All that did was delete all of my contacts and notes for my email act. Since I have an I pad . The acct also was deleted from it. I backed up both on ICloud but now I can not do the restore because ICloud does not reconize my phone. ..... Please help.

I do not know what imap.gmail is. I have also lost data which was contained on my diary which I believe is linked to the problem. Does anyone recognise this problem?

imap.gmail is the Google mail server. It doesn't recognize the password that is stored in the iPhone. The problem is that the password or email address you have in Settings for the gmail account is wrong. If you changed the password somewhere else that is the reason. You need to go to Settings/Mail,Contacts,Calendar, tap on the gmail account and enter the correct password. You also need to change it for outgoing mail in Settings. -
Why do I keep getting a message that states "the user name or password for icloud is incorrect.
Apple are currently trying to get less secure passwords updated. They require that your account passwords are at least eight characters long and contain both alpha and numeric characters and at least one upper case alpha character.
You might try changing your account password to match these requirements.

We purchased a new iPad2 and registered it using a 'new' iCloud email/ID. We are unable to send email from the iPad and iPhone. The error is:>> Cannot send mail. The user name or password for iCloud is incorrect.
About ~20 hours later, this ended up solving itself. We can send email using the '.icloud' email from both the iPad and iPhone. Advise would be 'wait' before you start seeking alteranatives like yahoo, hotmail, etc. This definitely is a convenient way to keep all your 'cloud' information in a centralized place, including the common email...
