I suspect either a bad cable, foreign material in the connector or a damaged connector in the iPod.

  • Every time Firefox opens, I get new tab, with my desired page as a tab that I have to click on to get to. How do I go back to how it was in previous versions?

After updating to the newest version of Firefox, when it opens I get two tabs, and the one that comes up on my screen is new tab, with my homepage on the other, which requires that I click on it to go there. Also when I click on a link the same thing happens, a new tab page comes up, with what I clicked on as another tab that I have to click on to get to. This is actually quite annoying and inconvenient. How do I go back to the way that it was, so that when I start Firefox it opens on my home page, and when a new page opens, I see the content of the link that I clicked on? IMO This new and improved is really new and made worse.

An extra extension might have snuck in. These can be bundled with other software you might have installed recently.
Try disabling ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable. (Or if completely unwanted, remove.)
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Does that get rid of the extra tab?
Note: I suggest also visiting the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program, and clicking the "Installed on" column header. This should bring the most recent additions to the top and group them by install date so you can investigate how unexpected software might have been installed.

  • My iPhone keeps showing an error message and the external speaker wont work

Ok I have had my iPhone 3GS about 3 months now and recently it has started showing an error message "This accessory is not optimized for this iPhone, you may experience noise caused by mobile interference and a decrease in mobile strength". The external speaker will not work either, the only sound it will produce is the ringtone. Any other sound, message tone, sounds from apps, songs on my ipod, sounds from videos, will not be produced! Although when i plug the head phones in the sound will work for everything and then this error message will come up again and the sound will stop working. It's like the phone thinks it is plugged into a docking system or something. Also the phone will lose signal for long periods of time and sometimes not come back unless i restore the phone. I have tried EVERYTHING and nothing has worked, can anyone help me please?

Or you can try what lots of other people have found, and thats that the base connector is dirty and the contacts are shorted by some debris.
The Apple store guys are good at cleaning them out - if you do it yourself, do not use any liquids at all.

  • How can i stop it that i have to click a link 2 times to open it?

I have to click links twice to open it.
On the first attempt, it doesnt matter if it is the same tab, another tab or new window, it will just try to load the exact URL where the link is.
On the second attempt it will open the page instantly.

It looks that you have had installed a Firefox 4 beta version if you have Testpilot installed. If that is the case then you may still be on the beta update channel and you may want to switch to the release channel. The only easy way to do that is to download and install the Firefox release version and install that version over the top of the current Firefox release candidate.
You can check the pref <b>app.update.channel</b> on the about:config page.<br />
If the value of that pref is beta then it is better to download and install the full Firefox 4 release or edit the file \defaults\pref\channel-prefs.js in the Firefox 4 installation folder and change the line to:
    <pre><nowiki>pref("app.update.channel", "release");</nowiki></pre>

    Hi
Did the issue still occur when you close your antivirus software?
Try opening word or excel in safe mode.
Click Win+R, type winword /safe or
    excel /safe.
    Go to file>options>add-ins and select
    COM add-ins, uncheck the add-ins.
If it doesn’t work, we recommend you check the issue in clean-boot,

  • Upgraded to Firefox 5.0 and now I get a pop-up window that I have to click ok before I can start Firefox. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

I upgrade to Firefox 5.0 and now when I start Firefox it takes a While but I get a Pop-up window with the message [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE) [nsIJSCID.getService]" nsresult: "0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://fvd.single/content/fvd_single.js :: <TOP_LEVEL> :: line 1526" data: no] Once I press ok on the pop-up window, Firefox will then start okay. I have not noticed any other problems yet.

We suspect this issue is caused by [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/flash-video-downloader-youtube/ Flash Video Downloader] , can anyone confirm this by disabling this addon and verifying if the issue still occurs?
    Thanks!

  • Windows installed an update and now Lightroom 5 keeps showing an error message and then closes.

Windows updated and now  when I try to open Lightroom it gives me a message that says "Lightroom encountered an error when reading it's preview cache and will try again when restarted"  Restarting it does no good at all.

The problem you are experiencing is not related to a Windows update. The preview cache has become corrupted. You need to use Windows Explorer or Finder to open the folder that contains your catalog. Locate the folder that has the extension .lrdata and delete that entire folder. Then start Lightroom as you normally do. Lightroom will be in building a new preview folder and you should be able to continue normally.
I don't know the reason, but quite a few people have experienced this same issue. Take a look at the "more like this" list to the right of this message. It is more common than you might expect.

  • Upon opening Firefox I get as many as a dozen Firefox pages all at once. I am positive that I have only clicked on the icon one time.

Restarting my desktop pc doesn't solve the problem. I am using Windows 7 and Version 5.0 of Firefox.

Thank you for your response; but, I will NOT ever use FF's Safe Mode again until or unless it comes with a WORKING cancel-and-return-to-normal mode switch--a most logical device, that OFF button.
Anyway, thanks, but several hours of trying to get out of safe mode and finally uninstalling--didn't work--then being unable to reinstall version 9.0.1--didn't work--only to have to perform a system restore, which was unable to install any version of FF without a zillion bugs...I'd rather eat ants than go through all that again--and it's continuing--of the last few hours. Not even years and years of using Explorer has given me the headache that I now have from FF--and if it wasn't for CoolIris, I'd chuck FF in a a second!
Give me a couple of days to regain my sanity and I might try your--I'm sure--excellent advice. By the way, for me, it isn't McAfee, it is, I do believe, the Memory Test add-on that "magically" came with StretchClock. They're both gone from my system!! Those clever little add-ons are forever off my list of things to try.

How do I get iTunes to install when I get this message? I tried unistalling and reinstallin 3 times. Same message every time. This only became a problem w/ the latest itunes update.
Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.
