HT3529 imessages are sometimes blue and sometimes green w/ sms off

Sometimes I can send an imessage on wifi and the bubble is blue.  Other times it wants to send it from a green bubble, however
I have sms turned off (I don't have a texting plan).  I can't figure out why it works sometimes and most of the time it does not
work.  I can be in the same location and send an imessage (blue bubble) and then ten minutes later, it wants to send it as an sms or green text.
It seems other people having trouble wth this after doing some research on the internet.
Does anyone know how to correct this so that when I am in wifi, I can send an imessage for free?
Thanks,  manpainter

Sometimes, your message will turn green because you don't have enough signal strength. Check that you can only send iMessages as iMessages in Settings < Messages< Send as SMS OFF. After that, try the basic R's: Reset, Reboot, Restore.

  • Why are some text messages blue and some green

Why are some text messages blue and some green?

Blue text messages are iMessages (with other iOS and Mac users with iMessage enabled).
Green are regular SMS messages to non-iPhone users and iPhone users with iMessage not enabled.

  • IMessage sent in blue, turns to green?

I've had a situation occur several times now. While chatting with another user who's using iOS5 messages sent via iMessage appear as blue and the SEND button is also blue.
However, recently I have had it happen where my SEND button, though it appears blue on my phone might be sending out messages that actually get sent as ordinary text (read, pay for this message!) messages and not the "free" iOS5 message type. Instead of the "delivered" subtext below the text bubble (normally in blue) I instead get a text bubble in green that contains the sent message and a subtext that says "Sent as Text Message".
Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening or how to prevent ANY green messages from going through? (On my plan I have to pay for each text message and don't pay a monthly fee for texting because I don't really use it.)
Does it have something to do with the other person's phone being turned off maybe?

    Hi Robert
    Annoying, isn't it?
On your lock screen (or wherever) choose 'settings', then 'messages'.
You will see a check box ''Send as SMS''.  Change this status to 'off''.
Now your system will wait until it can send it over the imessage system.
    Good luck

  • When I make a project in iDVD'09, there are sometimes green blocs with points flickering in some scenes of my iMovie-film. In iMovie there is no problem with this film, but the problem begins by exporting to iDVD and making a project there.

Who can help me, then I cann't find everything about this in any forum?

    Hi
Can be a problem that get multiplied and visible when iDVD encode for DVD.
    A. See if problem can be isolated to a single frame in the movie and re-import this clip and see if it's better
    B. When free space on Start-Up hard disk goes low - strange things like this might occure. I never go under 25Gb free space on this Start-Up Mac OS hard disk !
    C. Does this problem arises what ever encoding quality You use ?

  • HT1688 why am I getting appointments on my iPhone calendar that are in blue and they are not syncing with my Mac Book calendar?

I started getting appointments I create on iphone 4s in blue instead of the green that is usual.  I am also noticing that these appointments that are in blue are not syncing with my other calendars on my other devices.  Icloud is enabled and calendars is checked.  This just started happening...

    Hello jricks8
Check and see what calendar it is being added to. You may see it something that is local to the iPhone or another sync service that is not setup on your computer. Check out the page below to find out more information to sort you out.

  • Silver Shuffle - Switch Panel Area Is White And Not Green As Apple Adverts

    Hi everyone
Just got the New Silver iPod Shuffle.
Have a question about the top of the ipod - where the switch is, the colour is White and not Green as shown in the Apple store Pictures. Any idea?
I wouldn't like to think its a fake. Reason asking is I have already had to send one back as it looked liked it had been tampered with - had loads of scratches on the back and the cable was missing.
Look forward to hearing feedback on your purchases.
Best regards and thanks C :0)

    Thanks for that

  • Have a new macbook pro and on the display there are 2 lines, one blue and one green on the left side.  Does anyone know what the problem is.  Happened after 2 weeks.

I just purchased a new macbook pro.  Have had it about 2 weeks.  Last night there were 2 thin lines that are on the left side of the desktop, 1 green and 1 blue from top to bottom.  This happened after I added a printer.  Anyone know what this is.  Fearing that is a flaw in the screen.

Sounds like a hardware problem.  You'll need to contact Apple ASAP.  Since it's so new, hopefully they will just replace it rather than making you go through the repair process, but that's up to them.

  • Why are some dots blue and some green?

When viewing showtimes in the trailers app, some showtimes are marked with a blue dot and some are marked with a green dot?

Green is matinee (less expensive) shows times.

  • My iMessages are automatically deleting and it doesn't alert me when I get a new message even though I haven't touched my notification settings..help?!?!

My iPod Touch 4th Gen was running very slow, so after reading a blog, I doings clicked my home button and pressed the red button to stop some apps from running. It made my iPod work relatively faster, but my iMessages didn't seem to be working in the same way as they used to. It no longer alerts me when I have a message, even though I haven't touched my notification settings and my messages are always being automatically deleted. It doesn't even show the number or messages in a red circle anymore, I just have to check my messages by clicking into iMessage instead...
This is really annoying me and I can't save old messages anymore or reply quickly to any! Please help!

Perform a Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...

  • Can I use imessage on an ipad and still get normal sms texts on my android galaxy s4?

I want to purchase an ipad. I plan on using it basically as my phone whenever I am connected to wifi. So I can imessage when I'm connected to wifi..but when I'm driving or working, I will have my galaxy s4 on me as my phone. So if I'm not connected to wifi on the ipad and someone with an idevice imessages me, will it be a normal sms on my android galaxy s4? Or will it be stuck as an imessage on my ipad until I connect it to wifi?

If the person that is that is texting you is using an iPad, the message will be inaccessible until you connect to WiFi. The iOS messages app only works with other iOS devices. The iPhone can send and receive SMS messages from any phone.
You will not be able to text with Android phones using the Messages app on the iPad. You would need to purchase or download a third party texting app for that.

  • Imessages are not being delivered frequently. Normal sms works fine.

When i send an imessage an error is being displayed "not delivered", but normal messages works fine.
