Are you talking about in the contact window? Because when I select a contact in there the contact window appears and the plus sign in the top right is replaced with the edit button?

IPhone keeps sending the same text message multiple times in a row.

My iphone (4s) keeps sending people the same text message multiple times (2-4) a few seconds inbetween. Sometimes it will tell me that there the message failed, but they still recieve it multiple times. I've already tried deleting the message tread and reset network settings. Nobody who has an iphone has said anything to me about it yet, only people with android.

It's a carrier issue. I have AT&T and had this issue with my friend (who had an Android) and my mother (who had a feature phone). Both of them have Verizon for service and I'm thinking the issue was on Verizon's end. They both just dealt with it as we tried all sorts of things to get this sorted out (other than contacting Verizon directly) and had no luck.
They've both switched to iPhones so it's a moot point for us now, at least.

You will want to make sure that both your computer and phone have all options checked in the “Start new conversations from” section in your Messages settings:

You can change the address that new iMessage conversations are started with in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Start new conversations from. Note that this setting applies only to new conversations. If you would like to change the address from which messages are sent, first change this setting, and then delete the existing conversation and start a new one.

I keep on receiving the same text message multiple times and at around the same time each night. Any idea how I can stop this happening? The text messages are originating from to separate Saudi Arabian mobile numbers. Both these people are listed in my contacts so do you think if I delete their names it might stop the texts coming htrough each night?

Deleting the people from your contacts will not stop the messages. Have you tried talking to the people and finding out if they're sending you messages? You could try contacting your carrier and finding out what blocking services they offer. However, theat would block all messages from those people.

Sending Text Messages to Multiple Recipients

Is there a way to send a text message to multiple recipients? I've been trying to figure it out for a while. I feel like this is a feature that apple couldn't have just forgotten! Anybody know?

Not supported with the iPhone - at the present time anyway with no indication that it will be supported in the future.
Apple is known for doing research so right, wrong or indifferent, I doubt this is something Apple forgot to include.

HT3529 New 7.0 version update changes the way text messages are presented. In the new version, I cannot figure out how to delete individual texts. I can delete entire strings of messages, but I want to delete old texts, but keep the recent texts

The new version of the software for my iPhone 4 changed the way text messages are managed.
I can no longer delete individual texts from a text "conversation." I also have not figured out how to forward texts, which I was able to do in the prior version.
Anyone know a way to edit out individual messages without losing the entire string?

When you have the conversation open, if you tap & hold on a message bubble, you should get a new menu pop-up. It should have 2 options "Copy" and "More..." If you select the "More..." option it will then let you select one or more message bubbles and delete the selected ones by hitting the trach can icon in the lower left corner. As for forwarding, you probably just select the "Copy" option, then paste the contents into a new message...

IMessage sends me the same text i just sent to someone else.

After upgrading to iOS 6 last night, whenever my wife or I send or receive a text on our phones, the other person gets a duplicate. In other words, when I send a text to someone, i also get the text in my messages inbox. Or when someone sends my wife a text, i get the text as well. Two different phones with two different numbers but we do share an Apple ID. Any suggestions how to stop this?

You don't need to get your own Apple IDs. If you go into System Preferences on each device, make certain that you ONLY have the email listed under FaceTime that you want that device to receive. You can both have the same Apple ID. I have had to do this with a number of iPads, iPods and iPhones among my wife and my grandchildren as we share on Apple ID. You can delete the EXTRA email address by just clicking on them.

HT3529 Why can't I send pictures through a text message?

I have recently upgraded to an iPhone (first time iPhone user) and I am trying to send a picture that I recently took to an individual through a text message. I have tried viewing the picture and pushing the button that brings up the option to send the picture through a message, but when I try to do that I always get a message telling me that the message has failed. I'm not sure exactly what to do at this point. Any help will be much appreciated.

I am using AT&T and the individual I'm trying to send the message is also on AT&T service, but they have a different type of phone that is not an iPhone.

I just updated my husbands phone to ios8 and also mine. When I did his, now everytime I text him, i get the same text message from myself. I also get his text messages that he sends.

I updated my phone to ios8 by connecting to my computer. I then updated my husbands phone to ios8. Since then, I get every message he sends (as an imessage) and I also get my own messages back when I send him a message (text). I connected them to the same computer. I have now changed it so we have different apple id's, but at the time, it was the same. HELP!

Stop using the same AppleID. That's why you're getting each other's messages.

I Keep Receiving The Same Text Messages Multiple Times

Every single time someone texts me, it doesn't matter who, I will receive the same message from them multiple times. At first I thought it was just them resending their message but I asked and they said no. After a few days it started happening with all my contacts that I text. Sometimes it's every other text message and sometimes it only happens a couple of times but it's extremely annoying. It got so bad that I had to bump up my plan to Unlimited Messaging just so that I wouldn't go over my limit because I think that it's counting the multiple messages! Also, I've tried updating my phone and that didn't work.
Does anyone have any tips or solutions to this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks.

I am sorry to learn of the erratic duplicate messages you are receiving from several contacts. Let's narrow the potential issues that may be causing this behavior. Are you using a 3rd party application to send/receive text messages (i.e. Handcent, Go SMS, etc...)? Have you altered the operating system software in any way? What is your software version, baseband, kernel and built number?
Clearing messaging data/cache as applicable may resolve the issue: Menu>Settings>Applications>ManageApplications>All>Messaging>Clear Data/Cache. Try it and keep us posted.

I received the same message multiple times and the person that sends it only did it once. Also, I have trouble getting texts from non iPhone using friends.

It's actually probably a carrier (or hardware) issue on the sender's end. Tell the sender to pull the battery from their phone (or reset it if the battery is non-removable). I've seen this issue with certain HTC phones (HTC did release an update which solved the issue on my Thunderbolt). As far as I knew, I only sent the message once. However, it would show up multiple times on the receiver's phone. Pulling my battery would solve the problem for a while. It did take the software update to stop it permanently.

go to settings- messages - send and receive- select the numbers and emails you want to use - deselect the ones you don't need

I thought I was being so smart taking a picture of my neice and sending it to myself and my sister- she got it as did I... the only problem is that my phone KEEPS sending it to me... She's adorable but I don't need a bi-hourly reminder of that!
The message is "Sent via Blackberry from T-Mobile" Is this a BlackBerry thing or a T-Mobile thing?

It is likely a hiccup in the system. You might try going on your BB to your sent messages and deleting the one you sent from there.

or you could look at the camera roll and hold finger on photo you want to send until COPY appears, tap on that and then go to the text message box and hold finger there until PASTE appears and tap paste and then type message
