  • I have a mac book OSX 10.6.8.  I didn't convert my mobileme account in time.  Is there anyway to back up my computer to icloud with this version?

I have a mac book OSX 10.6.8.  I didn't convert my mobileme account in time.  Is there anyway to back up my computer to icloud with this version?
I have read that Snow Leopard isn't support by Icloud.  I am thinking of upgrading to Maverick, but first need to back up my computer.
Also, if I upgrade, will my programs such as the Adobe Creative Suite stay on my computer?

You cannot back up your Mac to iCloud; and you cannot use most of iCloud's facilities with Snow Leopard. You should get an external hard disk and make a clone - that's the safest possible backup as you can boot from it in an emergency.
You will need to check that your Mac meets the requirements for Mavericks:
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
    2GB of memory
    8GB of available space
    and the supported models are:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
Programs already on your Mac will stay on your Mac but  you should be aware that PPC programs (such as AppleWorks) will not run on Lion or above; and some other applications may not be compatible and need updating - there is a useful compatibility checklist at http://roaringapps.com/apps:table

  • Guys I have had my macbook air 2011 model stolen this afternoon. I have the serial number, the airport ID and the bluetooth ID. Is there anyway I can track my computer?

Basically is there anyway to find my computer using the interweb? I don;t think I have any expensive software installed.

I'm afraid that Kappy's answer is rather complete on the subject. The Mac's wouldn't need the functionality of "Find My Mac", if there were alternate means available without it. Yes, there are alternatives to "Find My Mac", but all them reguire the user to setup the software for the device's ability to be tracked.
If there were another way to track a Mac without owner/user interaction, then the means would be considered a security flaw.
Even Find My Mac is not without issue. The unit's location can only be determined if the thief/possessor connnects the unit to the internet. Therefore, in addtion to being dependent on prior user setup, the thief himself must participate in a specific manner.

  • Is there anyway to recover iMessages that were never received?

    Hi,
I apologize if this question has been asked before, but, the issue is as follows: The other evening my iMessage wasn't working, I could not send or receive any iMessages. I turned off my iMessage's and turned it back on, but it kept saying: "Waiting for activation." Finally, I turned my phone on and off, then, I began receiving iMessage's and texts again. However, after my iMessages began to work again, I never received any of the messages my friends had sent me. The messages were "delivered" on their end, but I never received them as an iMessage or a Text.
I have one other apple device, an iPad, but I have my iMessage off on my iPad. Is there any way I can recover those iMessages that were delivered to me, but I never received?
    Thank you.

    No.

  • HT3529 Is there anyway to take my whole text conversation and convert it to a email or reading document

Is there a way to take a entire text conversation and convert it or copy it to an email for easier reading?

One way to do this, is to open the message, and choose one of the conversation bubbles.  If you hold it down, the conversation bubbles will have a small circle next to them.  If you select all of the circles you wish to keep, at the bottom of the screen there should be an arrow that you can use to forward the selected text to the email of your choice. Hope this helps.

    Welcome to Apple Communities
You need Mac App Store to download OS X, and it's only in Macs, so you have to download 10.8 in the MacBook

  • Is there anyway to activate photoshop clipping paths automatically in CS4/5?

    Hello,
Can a preference be set in Indesign to automatically apply the photoshop clipping path to Tiff images?
    Cheers Joe.

You don't need to specify a flatness for indesign to pick up on that path, just need to set that it is the preferred path for an application to use. Paths aren't exclusively used for the purpose of knocking out a background or portion of a photo. You could google up device path flatness and you'll find a spiel something to the effect of set it quite a few pixels for very high res scans, fewer for low res. I believe it is just the tolerance for the application to use in interpreting which pixels to use. After all, a path is a vector outline and the application needs to determine how to cut the photo, which pixels to keep and which to exclude.
    Short adobe word on it.

Before Os x, I could open the lid of the computer and it would start. Now in microscopic text it asks for a password. Is there any way to not ask for a password.

  • I bought a Macbook Pro for school, but I'm regretting I didn't buy a Macbok air. Is there any way to change through Apple?

Hey, as the title reads I, about a month and a half ago purchased a Macbook Pro for school. When I bought it I was debating with myself wheter a MBA was better for my needs, since it's lighter and easier to carry around. But it was the 500gb HDD on the Pro that made me choose it over the Air. However I have now started regretting getting the Pro over the Air, since it's alot lighter which is beneficial for me carrying it to school everyday and I have realised I don't need 500gb and that 128 is enough for me.
Is there anyway to replace it through Apple?

If Hanz and Franz ("We are here the <clap> 'pump you up') are right  (Google older Saturday Night Live), you can hit the gym and carrying will be easier.

My computer was stolen, but recently returned to me. When I open it, there is a new ID, but my old computer name shows in backlogs (i.e. activity monitor and system information). Is there anyway to recover my old computer stored items?
Older Macbook Model from 2006  OSX 10.4.6

There is hope! Open iTunes and on the right side browser select the new "Purchased" tab.  There you will be able to enter your apple ID and download your purchased music from the cloud!  Hope this finds your well!

  • Is there anyway to transfer my 'usual syncing' comp without losing music?

The laptop that i usually keep my iPhone 3G connected to broke a couple weeks back, and only being able to get stuff off one computer is a pain because if i sync it to my new computer i'll lose everything on their like my iTunes music etc. I want to add more music and update the software etc. Is there anyway i can use another computer as my usual computer without losing all of my music? Like transferring the music off the phone to the computer first before syncing it? :S
    Thanks in advance (:

The iPhone is designed to sync iTunes media with one and only one computer - connecting it to a different computer will result in your iTunes media content being deleted from the iPhone. Sync of iTunes media content is one way (computer to phone) with the exception of music purchased directly on the iPhone. To reverse the process, you'd need 3rd party software (google search TouchCopy, for example).
Keep in mind that the iPhone is not a backup device - you are better off having an external HDD and a good backup strategy, which would make this recovery a whole lot easier...
