My texts I send from my iPhone 1) go to others as if my daughter is texting them from her cell phone and 2) if I text my daughter (same daughters cell phone) my texts automatically go to my cell phone as well as if they are coming from me. How can I fix this problem?

in the settings you might have additional numbers or emails in there especiappy if like me you share a family itunes or store account go to settings scrool down to messages imessage shopuld be on but down further you should see a send receive, this should only have your number or the nnmber of that phone, if you have the share ditunes account in there you will both receive the imessages. dont forget to do the same on your daughters phone

I was one of the folks saing its on your email side but this explanation is a lot better and now I agree its obviously not your email thats the issue...
try this
1. Login to your Verizon account.
2. Click on “Account” at the top and then “Change Features” from the bottom right.
3. Select the device you would like to remove the service from.
4. Then scroll down until you find “Contact Management” and click “Remove

It's possible that number was used for iMessage by someone else - I think phone numbers get "recycled," if you will, and inactive numbers get re-used after a period of time.
Have your friend contact Apple and see if they can help get the number removed.

Yes to receive an iMessage the recipient would need an iOS device (iPhone, iPod, iPad) and an internet connection. This is a messaging serviceprovided by Apple so the recipient does not need to check emails. If the contact does not have internet access at the time the iMessage is sent then a normal SMS through your carrier can be sent instead if you have "Send as SMS" turned on in Settings>Messages.

Very likely. Hard to believe the carrier in Mexico doesn't have a micro-SIM card available.

What can I do? Get a new SIM and see if it works again?
Get a micro-SIM from the carrier in Mexico that you don't have to manually cut down. If that carrier doesn't provide one, switch to another carrier that is not so low-budget.

Take it back where you got and and get your money back.
As has been pointed out, if there was a "previous owner", the phone is not "new". Thephone you purchased is most likely stolen. If whoever you bought it from won't give you your money back, turn it over to the police.

Your only chance is setting it up as new device without using the latest backup afterwards, which you already did.

However, I saw a reference to problems with the Library entries, so I checked mine and the iWork files were missing, something confirmed when I checked the crash log. In desperation, I did another software update, and that seems to have fixed the problem completely. Now wondering if I dare upgrade to Lion!

However, during my wait for your supervisor, just when I stepped away from my desk for a moment you must have picked up your phone again. When I heard a noise (other than the hold music) I rushed back to my desk only to hear you hang up. When the phone rang and the ANI said "Apple support" I tried to pick up but you were gone by the time I got the button pressed.

You can change the email address of one's appleID...
I'd recommend changing moms email to yours to get a good backup on the Mac
Then switch mom's back to hers
Then change your account to the same email you used.

I've had this problem on my Windows XP for years. it's been around, unsolved, or no solutions in these forums.
It keeps reminding me why Apple will never be the primary office computer company. Anyone running a business cannot have software running that will not behave, won't shut down, or behaves without any explanation, and this problem has no explanation, or solution that I can find except to use task manager to kill the process and only use iTunes when I'm expecting to shut down or kill the process.

I have resolved this issue with the apple chat support by going to the "purchases" tab in the app store - where there was a message that I had to accept updates for the apps that wouldn't update. Once I did this, signing in for each of them, they all updated just fine.
