HT3529 receiving duplicate texts

I keep receiving duplicate texts from my daughter's ip4, about 5 minutes apart. Two texts, no more no less, always 5 minutes apart. My wife and other daughter have identical phones and I receive only 1 text from them. I have a ip4 also, ios 6.1.3. Carrier is AT&T.
Any experienced recommendations? Phone settings for sender/receiver? Carrier issue?

Receiving duplicate texts?

I have been receiving duplicate texts from multiple contacts on multiple networks. almost always immediately but sometimes a minute later or so. its always just one duplicate but not every text, prob about 1 in 5 will have a duplicate. I'm not using any aftermarket messaging apps & its not just multiple notification its texts also. my girlfriend got the same phone on the same day as me & she has been having the same problem just not as often. I have seen other threads about this but it seems to be problems with messaging apps & not the stock messenger system. any ideas would be appreciated!!!! thanks

When I send a text from my imac friend with verizon receives duplicate text

When I send a friend a text from my imac she receives it in duplicate. She has Verizon. But when I send her a text from my Verizon phone she only gets it once. Any ideas why?

Are you using Mail to send these text messages? My experience has been that Mail always sends the text of a message twice. I don't use Mail but my wife and father do, and their messages are often repeated. I think. Maybe there's some way to avoid this by using particular settings in Mail. I would recommend turning off any fancy font settings, and not putting in any attachments, and see if the messages are still duplicating the text. I'm going to try that myself when I get a chance.

Duplicate Text Messages

I currently a droid x running android 2.3.3 in the Royersford, PA area. I updated to Android 2.3.3 2-3 weeks ago. After this update I started receiving a noticeable amount of duplicate text messages. The duplicates can number anywhere from 2 to 11 and are received over a ten minute period. As I am sure you can imagine this is extremely frustrating. It is also not restricted to one contact. I have received duplicate texts from 4 different carriers and the majority of types of phones available ranging from iphones to android to non-smartphones.
In an attempt to resolve the issue I visited my local verizon store and after spending about 20 minutes of being asked over and over if i had tried taking the battery out (which I had) I was finally told to perform a factory reset on my phone. I did and after 2.5 hours of redownloading all my apps (apparently they haddn't backed up to google's servers yet) I started receiving duplicate messages again (it actually started before I redownloaded all my apps). I returned to the verizon store in the next few days only to be told that since they could not get the problem to replicate itself in store (this after waiting for 45 minutes for the clerk to go around the store and use every display phone to text my phone) there was nothing they could do to help me, even though I still had duplicate messages in my inbox.
After waiting about a week I grew frustrated enough to try again and they agreed to give me a new phone (which I currently have). I didn't receive a duplicate for about 2 days and then it started again and has gotten progressively worse ever since. I even tried switching from the stock messaging app to handcent but it did not help (and yes I disabled the default messaging app).
Is anyone out there capable of fixing this issue? Is it an android problem, a droid x problem, or a verizon problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
A few more bits of information. My mom also has the droid x running 2.3.3 and has recently started experiencing the same problem but not to the extent that I do. My brother has a htc incredible running something other than 2.3.3 (I'm not sure what) and experiences the same problem as myself (this leads me to believe it is either an android problem or verizon but since it is on two different versions of android I am leaning towards verizon).

Duplicate text messages in messages+

I am receiving duplicate text messages when using messages+ as my default app. A msg I send is sent twice & I receive messages twice. This just started about two weeks ago. I have had my galaxy5 for two months. I turned off the stock app yesterday & I am still getting & sending duplicate texts. Cache has been cleared without success. Help please!

Try the stock app in safe mode. You may need a factory reset

Duplicate Text Messages - Pantech Crux

Hello, I began receiving duplicate text messages once I upgraded to a Pantech Crux. The duplicates are not labeled *duplicate message* like others, rather they are just received about 30 seconds after the original.
This happens regardless of sender but does not always happen. It will also happen regardless of whether or not I read the first message before the duplicate arrives.
Is there any solution to this? Will I be charged for all the duplicates?
Any help is appreciated.

Hello sinn10,
The probable cause is having the same message identiity on both phones. This happens when you activate/reset a new phone. A prompt comes up telling you that you now will have acces to messages on this new phone and will include your other phone number and maybe icloud id.
To take a number off, please follow these steps:
Settings > Messages> Send & Receive> then uncheck the phone number or icloud id you want taken out.

Duplicate Texts on my iPhone 4

I'm receiving duplicate texts every now and then (SMS & MMS). Mostly from texts about an hour+ old.
Any idea how to fix this? It must be a network issue after reading a lot of posts on the forum, as I am not the only one experiencing this problem.

Duplicate messages and problems receiving group text

My moto x periodically sends out duplicate text. I also cant receive replies to group messages. I have deleted all old threads and cleared cache. I have uninstalled the Verzion messenger app and reinstalled. Not sure what else to try! Unfortunately, I need these functions for my job. Someone please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's stopt these duplicate messages n2olowe! We want to get to the bottom of the issue first. When did the issue start? Do recall if it started after installing a particular app, or software update? Does your phone send duplicates to specific contacts only or all contacts? Have you enabled other SMS applications on your phone, like Hangouts, etc?

My IPhone 4 is constantly resending people I have texted, texts from earlier in the day. People keep texting me complaining that they are receiving many duplicate texts from me! They are annoyed about it and so am I!! How can I get it to stop doing it aside from throwing it in the street and smashing it?

Try rebooting: Hold down the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the slider. Leave the phone off for a minute or so, then power up again.

Wi-Fi is not required for iMessage. Internet access is required for iMessage which includes when the iPhone is connected to the cellular network.
If an iMessage cannot be sent, it will fail to send and you will be prompted to send as an SMS if text only.

Toggle iMessage Off then On
Turning iMessage off then on again worked for my particular issue. You can do this by following these steps:
From the Home screen, open “Settings“.
Select “Messages“
Slide “iMessages” to off for about 3 minutes, then turn it back on.
Your iPhone will be re-registered and may clear up the duplicate text message notification problem.
Repeat Alerts Setting
There is a setting that repeats notifications which could cause this issue. Check it with these steps:
From the Home screen, open “Settings“.
Select “Notification Center“.
Choose “Messages“.
Ensure that the “Repeat Alerts” setting is set to “Once“.
Send & Receive Setting
Another setting that involves sending notifications to multiple numbers could be the issue as well. Check the following:
From the Home screen, open “Settings“.
Select “Messages“.
Choose “Send & Receive“.
Ensure that only your phone number is listed in the “You can be reached by iMessage at” area. If you have an email address or anything else listed, it could cause duplicate text messages.

Mail receive duplicates e-mails, I switch to Thunderbird

Sorry Apple, Mail is really not a gift. I use it for years because I wanted to forget Outlook or Entourage years. I found it was a good idea to use email soft integrated in OS. Now I'm fed up :
- From several month, in spite of several upgrades, I always receive duplicates e-mails (even following the steps on your support site).
- Junk mail doesn't works (Mail leaves marked Unwanted messages in Inbox).
- Font and color palettes are really a pain. (I have discovered recently that actually the font palette is inspired by its sister in Windows WordPad !)
- Sometimes, text pasted in the compose message window from different sources become impossible to format (lines breaks anywhere, crazy line spacing, etc.
- No way to control if a file in particular is shown in the body or as attachment.
etc.
So I switch to Mozilla ThunderBird (1.5.0.4) not so smart either anyway.
- Difficult to import messages from mail (but i succeded finally)
- Idem for addresses.
- There is aslo a big bug for the moment : you cannot paste an image in the message body !

What I notice first, is that I'm said that my post dislikes when you answer to it but not when you simply trash-it. You could have told me what was wrong with my message. So I'm obliged to guess what is wrong by myself.
1 = it contains "beep" words ? However "fed up" or bored appears hundreds times in the forum.
2 = I name competitors ? Yes, but I name their lacks too. The word "thunderbird" appears hundreds time on the forum.
3 = my post was not actually a question to members ? No indeed, I only post questions when I dare to disturb people when I'm lost with an issue.
4 = I sould have write to http://www.apple.com/macosx/feedback/ ? Well I didn't know this adress but be sure know I note it.
And did you know I'm an Apple suporter since 1987, have bought a dozen of Macs and selled the twice ? You wanna imagine how much bugs I had to deal with in that carreer ?

HTC M8 sending duplicate texts

I just upgraded from an iphone 5 to an HTC M8.... People are now complaining that I am sending them duplicate texts, 2- sometimes 3 texts, 5-8 mins after receiving the original. I had downloaded Go SMS app but thought that was the problem so I uninstalled it and went back to using the stock messaging app but its still doing it.... Need help!
