HT3552 A question about previous purchases.

I recently upgraded my computer to the windows 8 consumer build, and when doing so I of course lost all my music. If I redownload an album that I have in my purchase history on itunes, will it be free even though it says the price by it where I have to download it instead of just saying download?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

  • Some general questions about recently purchased Powerbook G4 15"

    Hi guys,
I finally got my used Powerbook G4 15" A1095 1.5ghz off eBay and it's got some issues, any help would be great:
1.White areas on the screen, not to concerned about it but i can see them?
2.Some spots of dirt "behind" the screen all the way down the right edge of the display? These are not dead pixels?
3.Won't read dual layer dvd's? (i know it can't burn them)
4.Tatty case. (I have purchased a new lower case top case and lid from The bookyard for a total of £60 and i am having our It guys replace these for me to tidy it up.)
5.After buying these bits i've since discovered the lower ram slot is faulty so i'm stuck with 1gb?
6.Can the dirt behind the screen be removed when the lid is changed or are they in the display itself?
I did try and return the book to the seller but pretty much got nowhere so i'm stuck with it. On the plus side the screen has no dead pixels, is nice and bright and the machine runs pretty fast. I only use it for web surfing and music some it's fine.
Phew! sorry the the mass of questions!

Sounds like you bought yourself a project - or some else's troubles.
The internal drive won't read dual layer DVDs. They were not even invented when the PB was released.
The dirt behind the screen hints that the machine has been apart. It is possible to get the front glass off, but as eww stated it is not a fun or easy job.
The white spots sound about right for an aging Powerbook. I'm guessing you are not using it as a portable cos I'm sure the battery is smoked too. Hook it up to a nice large external display. The PBs have a powerful video card and give great color depth on a decent display.
The failed RAM slot is a killer, but common. Mine is the same. 1GB of RAM does the job, so don't give it a second thought.
Sadly, the Powerbooks are at the end of their life cycle as a portable, but they do make great desktop computers with a few peripherals. Set it up with a nice widescreen display, an external firewire DL DVD drive and a cooler pad and you should have a lot of fun with it.
Don't put Leopard OSX 10.5 on it! It will just slow it down and give you a whole new bunch of issues to address.

  • Question About Previous iMac vs New iMac Display

I just purchased a refurbished iMac 27" a few days ago. It arrived. I am having trouble visually adjusting to the screen. I've done extensive research on this topic already and have seen others with the same issue. I have heard numerous reasons for the blurry vision, headaches, etc, some attributing to a gap between the glass and the display, or the glare issue. I'm considering downsizing right now to a 21" to see if that will at all help, but I noticed with the new iMacs, they are advertising the following for the display:
"You won’t want anything to distract you from what you’re viewing on these big, beautiful 21.5- and 27-inch displays. And nothing will, thanks to a new display design that reduces reflection by 75 percent. In addition, because the LCD now sits right up against the glass, your content seems to leap off the screen."
    75 percent less reflection.
Full lamination has a second major benefit: It eliminates the reflection of light off the LCD panel and off the back of the display’s cover glass. But we also figured out how to reduce reflection off the front of the glass without compromising color quality. Instead of applying an antireflective coating to the glass in a conventional way, we adapted a process used on smaller surfaces like camera lenses and fighter pilots’ helmets. It’s called plasma deposition, and it involves coating the glass with layers of silicon dioxide and niobium pentoxide so precise and so thin they’re measured in atoms. The result: an astounding 75 percent reduction in reflectivity — and vibrant, accurate colors.
Is this new design made to solve the problem I am facing? Thanks for the help!

I recently had an eye examination done, and it came back perfect. This is the previous monitor I used: http://www.walmart.com/ip/AOC-931SWL/13890785
I get that it's completely different, but it didn't cause me any eye strain at all. I also tried calibrating the color, right now it's really warm, with less blue LEDs, and it's easy on the eyes, but it's definitely, still a problem.
I know that some people don't have any problem with them at all, but some others are having the same issue, but I am just trying to figure out if what Apple has done with the change in the new iMac is their solution to the problem.

  • A simple import question about previously existing folders

I just bought Lightroom (so excited!) and am importing my photos. I already have a pretty significant organization of folders on my Mac for all my photos. Does Lightroom recognize all previous folders and I can just move them in bulk or do I need to import them folder by folder? Thanks!

Simply select Pictures or the root folder and in the import dialog choose "Add"
Lightroom does not hold images it will reference the folders and files on your hard drive or connected external hard drive.
Go to the Library menu and put a check-mark against "Show photos in sub folders"

  • Have a question about transferring purchases

I am clear on how to transfer purchases to an itunes install from an ipod, but if I authorize an itunes install with my apple ID, then transfer purchases there from an ipod, does that make them not available to the original itunes library where they were downloaded?
I want to authorize wy wife's itunes (she has her own account) with my ID and then transfer purchases made in my itunes over to hers via my ipod so we can share them. I am wondering if this then makes those songs not available to me any more in my itunes. Is it truly a "transfer" or is it really a "share" which is waht I want. I don't want to transfer them from my itunes library to hers, but rather allow her to have them so she can sync them to her ipod along with the songs she already has. I don't want her songs, so we won't be going the other way
    Thanks!

Yes, I think I understand what you're asking now.
Your itunes store account can have up to 5 authorized PCs. So go ahead and authorize your wife's PC with YOUR account.
Sign out of her store account, then sign in with your store account. Go to store > authorize. Now her PC is authorized for both itunes store accounts.
Don't forget to sign out of your account and back into hers so she will not be using your account by mistake for future store downloads.
Now all that is left is to get the files onto her PC's hard drive and into itunes. The easiest way is Home Sharing, if both PCs are on your home network.
You could also use a USB stick if you don't have a home network. Post back if you need more info on all of that.

  • Archive and Install Leopard - questions about "previous system" folder

now that i have done an archive and install for leopard I have a "Previous system" folder. In it is "Applications", "Library", "Private", "Users", and "System" folders.
Which can I delete and which must I save??

    Hi DrAndy;
It is my understanding that after testing the installation done with an Archive & Install once you are certain that everything is working correctly the "Previous System" folder can be deleted in it's entirety.

  • HT5731 I forgot about slow download speed's negative effects... hence (I think) the videos I downloaded stop in the middle. I have a better download speed if I connect directly to LAN.  Is there anyway for me to fix the videos previously purchased?

I forgot about slow download speed's negative effects... hence (I think) the videos I downloaded stop in the middle. I can get a better download speed if I connect directly to LAN.  Is there anyway for me to fix the videos previously purchased or re download them without having to re purchase them?  I'm attempting to play the video's directly from iTune "purchased" folder on my Win7 Home Premium PC.

Never mind.. I found instructions on how to re download purchased items.  I only need help downloading 2 more items.  I love the attention I've recieeved (I guess silly questions go unoticed... sigh)

Yes, as long as the machine meets the system requirements for the software you can install and activate it.  Your license allows you to have the software installed and activated on two machines.

  • Since an update about a month ago, iTunes no longer shows which songs on an album I've previously purchased. Anyone know why?

Somce an update about a month ago, iTunes no longer shows which songs on a particular album I've previously purchased. Does anyone know why? For example, I purchase a number os songs fro Glee individually. When a new compilation album comes out, iTunes used to indicate which ones I've already purchased. Now it doesn't.

    you could use this script:
    Track Down Purchases
This script will examine each track in a selection of tracks or a selected playlist to determine if it was purchased from the iTunes Store and then copies it to a discrete playlist named for the person who purchased it, eg: "Steve Ballmer's Purchased Music". Recognizes song, video, and audiobook purchases. Purchaser information is gleaned by examining the track's file, which, depending on file location and access speed, can take as long a second per track.

  • HT1918 How do I clear a message about a problem with a previous purchase when my order history shows no purchases?

I am trying to download an app.  I get a message that says there is a problem with a previous purchase.  I log into the store and there is no history.  I updated my address but continue to get the same message and cannot download my desired app. Any suggestions please?

If you get a pop-up message asking to update Firefox or plugins or scanning for malware then such a message is likely a scam and you should never respond to such an alert to avoid getting infected with malware.
*Only update Firefox via "Help > About" or by downloading and installing Firefox from the Mozilla server and never via a pop-up or link on a web page.
*Plugins should only be updated via the plugin itself or by visiting the home page of the plugin.
Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

We are fellow users here on these user-to-user forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple - I've asked the hosts to remove your email address from your post (it's not a good idea to post personal info on any public forum).
If you mean that you are getting a message to authorise the account that you bought the songs with then you can do so via the Store drop-down menu :
