I've got it working on mine by downloading the old facebook app version 4.0.1 from the following link. In iTunes, go to file menu, select add file to library and add the downloaded ipa file and facebook will appear in the apps screen. next sync will then put facebook on your iphone 3G.

These are the apps that I know that supports iOS 4.2...... get these before the their next updates.
Some of these apps may be laggy but still playable.
BUT IF YOU DO UPGRADE TO BETTER IPOD...... I would get the iTouch 4g OR 5g because of iOS 6 and use of camera and better graphics.

Again, this only affects you if someone *redownloaded* content with a different ID. In my case, I emailed iTunes Store support, explained the situation, and they reset the counter. I recommend you try the same
If you read discussion boards, this is a significant change from a year ago, when Apple told people in the same situation to go f&$# themselves. Clearly it's dawning on them that this is a stupid policy, and my guess is if people keep complaining they'll change it to something more reasonable. Remember, it wasn't that long ago you couldn't re-download content at all.
Apple can't really afford to play hardball on this. Sure, the hardcore fanboys will always say "Thank you sir, may I have another" whatever Apple throws at them, but the rest of us will just switch to Amazon, which has none of these restrictions.

The iTunes Store needs the 3-digit security code from your credit card on the account. The iPad will display the account information so you can enter this information. Once you enter the information, purchase the app and it will download. Sounds like the Apple ID and payment information is not yours (your parents), so discuss this with the account holder.

it should deduct any money for updating applications as you had already bought them.. id try changing the credit card to a different one. even if there is no money on it... i think it has to have at least 1 cent, or you could change your credit card status thing on there to "none" and all the credit card stuff goes away.

Can't download Facebook APP. Says "Waiting", please help.

I've spent 3 hours trying to figure this out online so this is my last resort. I've done all the resetting, the taking the restrictions off, resetting my phone a hundred times. Long story short I click on iPhone Apps store to download the Facebook app. Now it just says "installing". I have tried connecting it to my computer and installing it / deleting it that way (but didn't work), also I can't delete the app from my phone, I've done the press and hold it until the X pops up but there is no X, I've deleted it from the "Usage" part and its still there and won't reinstall. Any help would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks!

I was having trouble with my Facebook App, so I deleted it and then tried to download it again. Everytime I try to download it, the screen just goes blank and nothing happens. Does anyone know what the problem might be? I have a Curve 8330, with v4.5.0.191. Thanks..

Please skip the tethered (to PC) method for obtaining and using AppWorld. Instead, please try this sequence:
1) Remove AppWorld from your BB
KB10040 How to view or remove installed applications on a BlackBerry smartphone
If it requests that you reboot the BB, do so
2) Do a Batt-Pull reboot (power on, remove battery, wait, insert battery, wait), even if redundant to the one you did in step 1.
3) Install (on your BB) a fresh copy of AppWorld
http://blackberry.com/appworld/download (from your BB Browser)
Again, if it requests to reboot, do so.
4) Do another Batt-Pull reboot
5) See if it now works.

I've bought a app ( garage sale HD ) on my iPad ... Half downloads then says. This app will be available to download when you log into your iTunes account on your computer. ???
Any advice will be grateful as iTunes have already charged £2.99 to me and I can't even download or use the app .

I've heard of this happening with large downloads, but not with something as small as the Garage Sale app. Presuming that a restart of the iPad doesn't fix the problem (a true restart, not just putting it to sleep), contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department using the form on their Support page (select the category and subcategory closest to the issue you're reporting and you'll find either an "Express Lane" button - just follow the instructions to get to the contact form - or an "Email Us" button) and explain your situation to them. Perhaps they can help or at least explain.
You're going to want to get a computer up and running eventually, though. You can't back up your iPad (and unlike for apps and iBooks, you get only one download per purchase for music, videos and movies, so those need to be backed up) nor update the OS on the iPad without a computer.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You might try to see if you can change your security questions. Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account > Password and Security.
I'm able to do this, others say they need to input answers to their current security questions in order to make changes, I'm inclined to think its worth a try, you don't have anything to lose.
If that doesn't help you might try contacting Apple through Express Lane (select your country, navigate to iCloud help and enter the serial number of one of your devices)
