HT3659 soundtrack pro search field empty

Quite often, and inconsistenly, when i go to search for sound effects or loops, the field where they get listed vertically is empty - even though it says i may have many loops or whatever available.  This is very annoying and making it impossible to work on my film.  What's wrong?

I got this error tonight:
NSInternalInconsistencyException
Invalid parameter not satisfying:
m_dragAndDropAutoscrolTimer == nil
How to duplicate:
Using FCS 2 --
1. From FCS 2 do a Send To Soundtrack Pro
MultiTrack
2. Add a Track
3. Located sound file I wanted .aiff via Search tab
4. drag file to File Editor tab on new empty track
5. drag file from File Editor to empty track
The downside, I can't always duplicate this,
especially if a create an new blank STP project.
Anyone else run into this problem with the new
Soundtrack Pro 2.0??
Rob.
I had the same problem - same error. The file I was trying to add to my track was a soundtrack supplied special FX noise. Tried many different clips, same problem. Also, the main project window seems to want to auto scroll - but only in one direction.

  • Send to Soundtrack Pro Multitrack Project - All I get are empty tracks

I have a sequence in Final Cut Pro that has a collection of clips and sequences inside of it. When I right click the sequence in the browser and select Send To -> Soundtrack Pro Multitrack project, it opens STP as it should. When STP opens, though, I have a correct video track, but all of the audio tracks are completely empty.
Am I doing something wrong here?

select the sequence in the browser and then send to STP

My Soundtrack pro looses the mic on AJAKona.  It will appear as an input only by clicking on New audio file, then ok,  and an Recording alert comes up.  But if I change track I loose the AJA again. How do I fix this?

Finally found the answer. The recording was done at 48, the audio/MIDI settings were set to 48, but the sampling setting on the export was not, causing everything else to break down. Once all three matched the export worked and the playback audio worked without opening the clip editing screen.

  • HT5548 MacBook Pro w/ 10.8.3.  My search field won't take any entry now. It used to.  I don't think I changed anything.

Recently I found that I could no longer enter text in the search field of Launchpad.  To the best of my knowledge I haven't made any changes recently that would affect it.
    Rebooting doesn't change anything.
    Any thoughts?

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode.  Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • How do I get a mixer to show up in Soundtrack Pro?

The problem is not using a mixer but I can't get one to show. I see my sound track, (can play) and did analysis and cleaned up but clicking all mixer buttons and choosing a different layout all 3 choices never give me a mixer.
The lower pane with the mixer highlighted is blank. I also set up a new project choosing multitrack with mixers or Seperate Mixer and video which show the mixers but as soon as I put my aif file into Soundtrack the mixer disappears from the window only the wave forms are there. I have posted this several times. There must be somebody who has a clue what is going on here? (Apple?)Thank you.

Since nobody could answer my cry for help (no you don't find it in the manual) I am entitled to the 10 points finding the solution. Here is how to get around not being able to get a mixer for your aif file you want to edit. When you double click Soundtrack Pro an empty window opens with an empty track 1 and track 2.
As a seasoned Apple user you think drag and drop the .aif audio file into those tracks you want to edit and use in your movie. Well you are in for a three day search for answers how to get that mixer to open that you want to use! If somebody (or the manual) would just say you can't do that you could have saved that time to do what you need to do!
In order to get the mixer(s) you need you must:
    1. click on "New Project" on the top left: window opens with both video and audio mixer tracks in which you can drop you audio. You can than open Layouts and choose from 3 layout choices of mixers. Happy panning and mixing.

  • Have Soundtrack Pro, how do I "install" loops to FCPx?

As advised by Apple in 2011 I have FCP7/Studio installed on another startup disk.  I found the Soundtrack Pro audio loops and put them in /Lbrary/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple in the startup disk with FCPx.  When I open up FCPx in the Music & Sound window there are 2 Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro folders!!  Is this a bug?  Or did I do something wrong?  Should I delete the files in the Apple Loops Index, would that fix things?  I like how finally the Apple for Soundtrack Pro folder is no longer greyed out, but I don't like the extra folder there.
Also, why is there 2 Final Cut Pro Sound Effects folders, one of them is greyed out.

I need to get "Soundtrack Pro" inorder to populate the "greyed-out" folders?
Possibly yes. I bought FCP Studio back in 09. STP was one of the suite applications that came with it (it also came with Logic Pro Studio -- as well as ALL the Jam Packs -- so I effectively bought it twice.)  Since Apple put these apps on the App Store (FCPX/Logic), all the extras you *used to get* aren't there anymore. [You can still purchase Logic Studio from Apple's website store.]
I've also dragged in 3rd party loops (from siliconbeats.com [they have quite a few free loops available], etc.)
Also, I really don't know if you even CAN buy STP or the Jam Packs anymore. You can buy Logic Studio and you'll still get STP and all the Jam Pack loops that way... but that's rather expensive for just the loops.
(*Aria*) -- I don't think the empty STP loops folder is a bug. I think it's there for all of the people who owned previous versions of FCP and had STP installed as part of the suite.
PS - sorry it took this long - I got cut off due to maintenance last night...

  • Upgrading to Tiger, Logic Pro, Soundtrack Pro, Etc

    Hi,
Between me and Santa, it's been a really great Mac Christmas but I have some questions that I couldn't really find exact answers for by searching the forums.
I'm currently running OS 10.3.9 with Logic Express, Garageband (original) and Soundtrack (original). I'm about to upgrade to Tiger and have iLife 05 (with Garageband 2) here with upgrades to both Logic & Soundtrack Pro on the way.
I've decided to do an erase and install when I upgrade to Tiger just to wipe the slate clean (too many tried and abandoned freewares and demos!), but I'm a little confused about the best way to install all the new audio apps:
    1) Since I'm UPGRADING to Logic Pro and Soundtrack Pro, is it necessary for me to have Logic Express and the original Soundtrack installed before installing the upgrades, or will these install fine just by referencing my original activation codes or whatever?
    2) Would you recommend that I install Garageband 2 from the iLife 05 disc? I know there's a lot of redundancy, but it seems some posts here implied having GB2 installed was necessary for LP to work to its fullest (EXS instruments, Jam Packs etc)...I'm hoping I won't need to install GB2.
    3) Since STP comes with many of the same effects & loops as LP, is there anything I should consider doing to streamline the install or save disc space and avoid too much duplication?
    4) I'm sure I'll need to install the latest Pro Application Support releases. Should I do that after installing LP & STP or before? Does it matter?
    5) Finally, and I suppose this might be more appropriate on a different forum, but while I have you here: this G5 is my main computer for my .Mac account (we have a few other Macs in the house). Do I need to take any steps like deauthorizing or anything to make the transition smooth?
Thanks for any help, suggestions or recommendations! Looking forward to finally being current....
    ~Knight Berman (presto211)

Thanks again, Justin. Had some issues...after installing Logic and moving on to the Content disc, the Installer for the Logic Pro Bonus Sounds kept quitting each time I tried to run it. Updated Logic to 7.1.1 and it was able to install, but it took about an hour. When I tried to drag the tutorial folder to my hard drive, it said it would take approximately 33 hours to copy the 500MB file! Weird.
Also, before updating to 7.1.1, I tried launching Logic and it held for over an hour while Scanning Audio Units on: (19/21) AuAudioFilePlayer. Did a Force Quit on the Auval(?), which was not responding, and Logic opened fine, and has since. Don't know if this might not bode well for the future though.
Biggest Problem: Looking at the Loop Browser, I'm only seeing Garageband Loops from the drop-down menu. With Express, I could see other Sub-Groups besides GB Loops. I've installed Soundtrack Pro, and I know it's missing those as well because the "Vocal" tab is greyed out and, being sure there are some vocal loops in STP, I dragged the HD/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro onto the Loop Browser and it seems to have indexed them as at least now the "Vocal" tab has loops in it.
However, I'm still not seeing "Soundtrack Pro Loops" or anything new in the drop-down menu - which was always handy to access specific loop sets such as ones I installed on my own. I'm just worried that I'm not getting access to the Loops that came with Logic Pro! Any thoughts?
Thanks so much for your help ~Knight (presto211)

  • Is there somebody out there to shed some light on this? Change keys, tempo in Soundtrack Pro greyed out?

From the amount of posted unanswered questions like mine one should be able to see that there are more than a few people confused about the greyed out "Change keys, tempo in Soundtrack Pro" (and for that matter in Apple Loops Utility, Logic, GarageBand)! What does it take to help out the less adept budding beginners? Please don't post read the manual or search for... we all know you can spend days with no results. There is nothing better than a friendly person (wizard) who knows and has done it all, giving clear step by step instructions. Please lay it out for us lesser brains. Thank you so much for your time and patience.

  • Soundtrack Pro making a LOT of files - used to working in Logic, need help

So I'm used to working with Logic Studio/7.2/etc, and it's my first foray into working with Soundtrack Pro at work. My questions are this: When I use the razorblade tool (since I can't find an equivalent to the split tool in logic) in soundtrack to cut up a sequence, it seems to be creating a LOT of extra files:
http://www.1217design.com/pics/stp_question.png is an example of what I mean. Is this supposed to happen? The recorded files themselves were done in FCP and sent to Soundtrack Pro via the Send to STP Multitrack session function.
What I'm trying to find out is: Is this supposed to be happening? How can I stop this from happening? Are all of these extra files necessary in order to export the final project? And what will happen if I delete them?
I just want to know because the folder is now 4.71gb for a 30 second audio file (the final aif export is roughly 30mb), and there's over 200 of these extra files that have been created in the process of working on this project.
If this is what is necessary to work in Final Cut then I won't be able to work with FCP due to size issues (which is a shame as I feel so much more comfortable working within that environment than I do working in FCP).
Thanks for the help in advance,
    Sean

    Sean A wrote:
By doing this, will it still create all of those extra files? That's what I'm trying to figure out. Is it just from the blade tool being used?
For all edits, yeah, baby, STP will generate more files than cows create methane.
First, I know what works for me, but I'm still learning, so I strongly encourage you to keep a COMPLETE BACKUP of all projects until you know your workflow. Also, you may have Preferences set up differently than I do, so you may not find the same paths as what I describe here.
When you have an audio file the way you want it, and you're confident that you won't need those edit files again (be SURE) Process > Flatten All Actions (or Audible Actions) and Save that audio file. Then -- as I understand it so far -- you can safely trash all the edits related to that file. (If you use Photoshop or similar visual programs, it's the same idea.)
During my first few weeks of intensive STP work, my drive grew more and more sluggish, for no reasons known to me. I saw disk space shrinking rapidly. Finally I figured it had to have something to do with STP, so I started searching and eventually I found my edits piling up in home/Documents/Soundtrack Pro Documents, especially (for me) in Edited Media. Since they all came from projects I'd finished and exported to AAC and MP3, I was comfortable trashing them all. Suddenly, whoa, I had an extra 12 GB of disk space available.
Just keep those edit files until you are CERTAIN that you know what you're doing and that you're DONE. Otherwise, when some project needs one precious little 3MB turn of a phrase, you may find yourself confronting suicidal or homicidal tendencies.
I welcome further clarification and/or correction from people who know more and can explain it better.
    Best,
    chuck

  • Custom search fields on BBPCF01

    Hi,
I have some troubles in viewing custom search fields on transaction BBPCF01.
I created a new custom Function group with a dynpro where I will place my custom fields. I created a new html template for this screen. Then i modified the BBP_CUF_BADI implementation in order to add my custom screen:
        ev_repid = 'SAPLZSMM_CUF_PO'.
        ev_dynnr = '100'.
On the GUI side I correctly see my custom fields, but on web I see one field without label, no matter what I put on my dynpro, it could even be empty or contain only a checkbox. Can anyone help me?
    Thanks in advance
Edited by: francesco on Jan 31, 2008 12:40 PM

    Hi Karsten,
thanks for your patience. I need to add three new selection parameters for PO on the above mentioned transaction. The additional selection fields are Purchasing Document Date, Profit Center and Name of requester. Moreover I need to add some check boxes in order to further narrow selections according to a logic.
I tried to add the fields through BBP_CUF_BADI_2 and it worked, but the fields are added vertically on the web transaction making it a bit "ugly", so I decided to draw my own dynpro and call it through BBP_CUF_BADI, which allows you to call a custom dynpro on a standard transaction.
On gui side it worked, even if I still don't know how to make it actually work for the selections...
I don't know what else to do.
    thanks for any help.

  • Soundtrack Pro pops out of record mode after 1 second  -  Help!

I have an ADR session tomorrow, so this one is pretty urgent. I have Soundtrack Pro 2.02 on my PPC G5 and I've used it to record vocal tracks for a long time, but I haven't used it a couple months. I started it tonight to do a couple test takes and hit the record button and it records for about 1 second then pops out of record mode. The playhead, however, continues to run. So it's not that it stops altogether, it just quits recording.
Nothing new in terms of hardware, same preamps, same mic. No new software that I can think of, just the standard updates. Searched the and found the same question asked a earlier this year but was never answered ( http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1382762&tstart=6 ). I hope someone knows what's going on. Thanks much.

    UPDATE:
I did a complete re-install of FCS and it's working now.

  • Search field in finder window fails to find

I'm in the process of preparing some thumbnail images for a webpage. I have each file named by our item number at 300 pixels wide. There is a thumbnail image of each at 50% size and 25% size. The 50% image is named with a "_150" after each file name and a "_75" after the 25% thumbnail image before the ,JPG file extension.
All images are contained in one folder. I now want to put each size in it's own folder (all the full sized images in one folder, all the 50% sized images in another and all the 25% sized images in the last folder. Normally (under Panther) I'd do a search in the Search field in the finder window to find all files with _150 in their name in the selected folder, select the results and move them to their own folder. It seems Spotlight with all it's vaunted search power cannot find any files with _150 in the folder I've indicated even though I can plainly see them. It finds no results at all. This is progress???? Give me back a simple Find command!!!!

Hmmm, how odd. I have renamed a file on my Desktop to append _150 to the end of the filename. Spotlight did find it via a Finder search.
You can try forcing Spotlight to re-index the folder by opening the Spotlight preference pane, select the Privacy tab, then drag the folder into the list. Wait one minute then delete the folder from the list. This will force Spotlight to try and re-index the folder.
If that doesn't work it's possible the Spotlight database index is messed up. If that's the case then you would need to delete the database and re-index.
I would also do a precautionary repair of the hard drive and permissions:
Boot from your OS X Installer. Be sure to use the installer for the version of OS X you have installed. After the installer loads select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (or Utilities menu if using Tiger.) After DU loads select your OS X volume from the list on the left, click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes and then restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (3.0.3 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.0.4 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.

  • Best workflow for editing Logic Pro 8 regions/tracks in Soundtrack Pro?

I've searched for a solution for the below question in several forums and to no avail. Thanks in advance for any help!
What is the easiest workflow for editing Logic Pro 8 audio files with Soundtrack Pro 2? And I'm thinking of a process very similar to the Final Cut Pro timeline audio-to- Soundtrack Pro Audio File project workflow.
I'd imagine that a good amount of the time, I'd be editing regions rather than full audio files -- as in, once in a while, while mixing sessions that another engineer has tracked, I'll hear clicks and pops from pre-amps clipping; or I'll hear an air conditioner blower running or something.
Basically, I occasionally hear noise in the arrange window while mixing that I'd like to edit out with Soundtrack Pro, and I need to know the easiest way to send that audio clip to Soundtrack Pro and then back to Final Cut Pro.

Connecting your FS Mobile to powered speakers will not increase latency. Latency is simply the fixed amount of time it takes for your computer to process sounds. Once the sound is processed and available at the outputs of the FS Mobile, it can go anywhere; to a PA mixer, a separate monitor mixer, headphones, etc. One thing you will want to consider when playing live is to have a personal monitor very close to you and pretty loud. The reason being is that the physical distance between you and the main PA speakers will itself induce a type of latency since sound travels at about 1126 ft/sec or 1000 msec of delay for every 1126 feet. Adding this delay to your latency could make holding a groove or pitch for that matter nearly impossible. The delays add up pretty quickly. For example, if your speakers are say 50 feet away from you, you would likely have around 20 msec of delay right there. Add this to your system latency of 20 msec and your up to 40 msec which is like trying to play a rubber guitar underwater. Even if your PA speakers are closer, the delays add up quickly. So having that nice loud monitor right up next to you will insure that you only have to get the feel of your system latency.
