HT3662 how to cancel downloading Mavericks while in progress on macbook pro
I started downloading latest Mavericks OS and realized I had already downloaded the latest version. Cannot cancel the download.
What do I do?

information.The FTP API I used is from SUN, JDK, sun.net.ftp.FtpClient. The method is " InputStream in = ftpClient.get(remoteFilename)"and "in.close()" should close downloading. while it is still downloading, in.close() will not work and hang my program on forever. I am just wondering if there is trick to close downloading whenever I want especially in case that network connection is too slow and I want to cancel the job.

That message is just a standard one issued, mainly for Windows users, you can disregard it if you didn't install any anti-virus. (OS X has one installed by Apple that doesn't interfere)

What country are you in ? Depending upon what country that you are in then you might be able to redownload them on your Mac's iTunes via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the iTunes store homepage
If you're not in a country where TV programmes can be redownloaded then connect the iPad to your Mac's iTunes and use the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over from your iPad -

That was excessively complicated, and NOT how you import CD's into iTunes. I have imported nearly 1000 CD's into iTunes and never once, not once, have I fulled around with folders. You can't. Excel is a commercial product sold by Microsoft in an Office "package" and not as a stand-alone product.
If you need to be able to open and save Excel documents on your Mac, however, you could try the free LibreOffice.

There are two apps that I know of - and I would also swear that they come from the same developer, although they've different names. Both have free trials and both cost $40 (but both do 'other' video conversion as well).
One is WonderShare - I bought this one and it works very well for downloading YouTube videos as well as converting just about any file format you can think of.
The other is iSkysoft Video Converter (just noticed that it's now $36).
I tried them both and finally decided on WonderShare. Give them both a trial run and decide if you like either one enough to buy it. I don't know of any 'free' software that will allow you to download and convert YouTube videos, but perhaps someone else will come along and know of something...

I won't speak to how to obtain Windows 7, which you'll need to purchase or you must have a Key that you've purchased or own.
You have two choices to use Windows 7. First, are the virtual Windows emulator, using Parallels or Fusion (I think those are the only 2 but there might be others). I never liked them much (nor do I like Windows, but sometimes you've got to use them). They are slow and memory hogs, so you need a ton of memory to use them (8GB good, 16GB better). But you can use Windows and easily move over to OSX because Windows is in an OSX window. Easy.
We're not going to tell you how to install Windows 7 with those emulators, there are forums for them at the company website. It's not easy, but it's not terribly difficult.

Your other choice, which is better and free, is Boot Camp. Boot Camp runs Windows natively, no emulator. But, you don't have access to Mac OSX unless you log out of Boot Camp. Again, this isn't the place to learn about it, go to the Boot Camp forum for more details.

How can I install Mavericks on a gifted 2011 MacBook Pro?
My brother gifted me his late 2011 MacBook Pro running OS X Lion.
I booted with command+r, launched the Disk Utility, and erased the disk. I closed Disk Utility and selected "Reinstall Mac OS X." The machine tells me that it needs to verify my computer's eligibility before it will download and restore Mac OS X, presumably because Lion was not free like Mavericks. It then fails and says that it could not find installation information for the machine.
Would it be possible for me to download the Mavericks install on an external hard drive, plug the external drive into the machine, and just install Mavericks using my Apple ID? If so, what would be the steps to do this?
