HT3669 How to submit printer driver to Apple's native Software Update.

I am a developer working for a printer manufacture, and I wonder how to submit our's own printer driver to Apple's native Software Update.
Any information is appreciated!

You'd have to talk to Apple...
Apple includes All of the printers known on the market today, so what makes yours so special?

  • HP Printer Driver not currently available from Software Update server

I have an iMac (early 2009) and an HP OfficeJet 6100 Series printer.  I just upgraded my Apple Extreme Base Station and when I try to add the printer again thru the new Base Station the iMac says the software is available from the Apple Server but after searching it returns the following message: "Can't install the software for the Hewlett-Packard OfficeJet 6100 Series because it is not currently available from the Software Update server."  This has been going on for days.  I have the driver installed already from having the printer connected via USB and via my old Base Station but cannot "see" the printer on my new Base Station without adding it again.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Drew

Wired (Ethernet) or wireless network connection
Click the Apple menu ( ), and then click Software Update . Software Update checks for available updates and updates the database that your computer uses to determine available printer software.
Click Show Details , select any available software updates, and then click Install .
    NOTE:
Install all available software updates for best printer performance and functionality.
Turn on the printer, and then make sure that it has paper in the tray and that it is in a ready state.
Make sure that the printer is connected to the wired or wireless network, or is connected to the USB port of a Time Capsule or AirPort Base Station.
Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences .
Click Print & Scan , and then click the plus sign ( ) in the lower left corner of the window.
Under Nearby Printers , click the name of your printer.
    NOTE:
If your printer is not listed, click Add Printer or Scannerfor a full list of printers.
Under Name , click the name of your printer.
    NOTE:
Make sure that the printer kind is Bonjour or Bonjour Multifunction .
Click the Use box, and then select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu.
Click Add to add the printer to the queue.
If you are prompted to install any additional software for your printer, click Install , and then follow the instructions to complete the installation.
    NOTE:
Quit and restart any applications that were open before adding the printer to use the updated HP software features.

  • How do I delete an old Apple ID and still update apps purchased when I was using it?

How do I delete an old Apple ID and still update apps purchased when I was using it?

One, you cannot delete an Apple ID, all you can do is stop using it and let it fade away.
Two, apps are permanently tied to an aPple ID and can never be transferred to another.  You must use that same ID to update an app, or delete the app and repurchase/download under another ID.

  • I am unable to send error reports to Apple or receive software updates

I am unable to send error reports to Apple or receive software updates. Does anyone know why this might be the case?

If you're running Mac OS X 10.5.8 as your profile says, there will almost certainly never be any more software updates, and there's no point in submitting bug reports because the bugs will never be fixed.

  • Apple MacBook/Pro Software Update 1.0?

On versiontracker.com, there is an update called Apple MacBook/Pro Software Update 1.0. The desciption says:
"This update enables file system journaling on MacBook and MacBook Pro notebook computers. Some MacBook and MacBook Pro systems were shipped with file system journaling turned off. Journaling is recommended on all Mac computers as a preventative measure against file corruption."
It is recommended for Mid 2007 MacBooks
I ran the Software Updater on my MacBook which I bought in June and this update did not come up as needed. Has anyone else installed this? If it does not come up in the Updater, does that mean I don't need it?

Thom you might try going to Applications->Utilities->Disk Utility->click on the name of your HD (probably something like "Macintosh HD" unless you renamed it) in the left had corner and look at the bottom of the window under "Format:" It should read "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" If that's the case then you probably don't need to worry about it.

  • How can I turn off the daily nagging about software updates?

How can I turn off the daily nagging about software updates?
I am _very_ annoyed at having to answer this every day, day after day after day.

    Thanks, PJRS.
But if I'm reading that right, the only way to get the nagging to stop is to accept all the download that Software Downloads suggest.
Quite often it pertains only to software I never use. In these cases, I'm not interested in downloading it.
And also -- if I'm understanding that document -- I have to respond every time the nagging drops down (at least once per day).
99% of the time I have no desire to download the suggested software.
In ANY case, it is outrageous that the software resorts to harassing a customer without at least a readily visible means to turning it off
SO -- please let me know what I'm misunderstanding -- thanks..

  • How do you know when you have the latest software updates

how do you know when yo have the lastest software updates on your older IPOD?  I just purchased on home theater to replace one, Samsung, I was assured that the system would run my IPOD.  I've sync'd my IPOD to my computer a number of times before the purchase and since.  Samsung is telling me that I need to update my IPOD.  My ITunes keeps telling me there aren't any updates out there.

Read the top of the page I gave you the link to. The
latest update that you do not have only added more
support for the Shuffle. If you are not having any
problems leave as is. If you have problems then
download the update. It will ask you for your user
ID. Once you install the updater, your computer will
    reboot.
This is what it says at the download site.. iPod Software 1.0
    * iPod with video
Everything is working fine Barb with the ipod but I was under the assumption that if an update is available, I should download it...

Does apple charge for software updates on ipod (2nd generation)?

Apple doesn't charge for iOS 4 or newer. To upgrade to 3.1.3(only necessary on the first generation models), there is a charge.

  • How to get print driver in 9 to behave like print driver in 5?

    Hello,
I'm working in an XP shop with some legacy applications.  One of these applications prints out batches of files to the PDF Writer printer from Acrobat 5.0.  The files all come out with a similar filename pattern.  For example, if the input was "Filename" and there were 3 parts to the batch, the output would be FILEN001.PDF, FILEN002.PDF, FILEN003.PDF, and so forth.
We're moving to new hardware running Windows 7, and unfortunately we have to keep this legacy app around for a while.  The Acrobat 5 printer driver will not install on Windows 7.  I've downloaded the trial for Acrobat 9 Pro, but I can't seem to get the 9 printer driver to work the same way.
    Anybody know a solution?
    Thanks,
    Alex Seigler

Try the forum for Acrobat SDK.

  • How do I change apple ID for software update?

A technician set up my new computer and now, whenever there is a software update, the app store wants HIS apple ID, not mine.  How do I change that?
    Mavericks

Well, the easiest would be to contact the tech and have him redo it the right way (he should know better).
The other way will be that you need to back up all your files because you need to wipe the drive. Restart or boot up using Internet Recovery - holding Command + Option + R until you see a spinning globe. It will take a while, but you will wind up with Apple's servers and a Utilities window. Use Disk Utility to wipe your drive. When finished, go back to the Utilities window and choose reinstall OS X - this will reinstall the original OS and not be tied to his apple ID. You can then update, etc.
