HT3678 Registering QuickTime Player Pro

When I hit tab (as the directions state) in the registration window for Quick time player 7 Pro nothing happens, it tabs up to the first window. I know I need Quick Time Player 7, I have downloaded it, I have found it in the Utilities folder of my Applications folder. By the way I have no idea if I have clicked on the correct community to pose this question to.  I have version OS X 10.6.8, it doesn't state Lion, Mountain Lion, Snow leopard or Gazelle... (that would be frustration sarcasm).  Any help is greatly appreciated.

From the Help menu:
Resizing, Flipping, or Rotating a Movie
You can change the size and orientation of a video track of a movie.
To resize or rotate a QuickTime movie:
1. In QuickTime Player 7, choose Window > Show Movie Properties.
2. In the Properties window, select a video track and click Visual Settings.
3. To resize the movie, type new numbers in the Current Size fields. To keep the same height-to-width proportions, select Preserve Aspect Ratio.
4. To rotate the movie, click one of the rotate buttons.
To restore the movie to its original appearance, click Reset.
I opened a sample video to show where they mean:
Note that the name of the video is Yosemite.mov, which is what is first highlighted when I open the video. You cannot perform the changes you want while that is the highlighted line. I clicked on the Video Track and then had the options to scale and/or rotate the video.

BUT when i go to open a file or folder and play the dvd.. it does not let me on the d drive i double click it to open and it goes into audio and movies and links off into each seperate thing within the dvd.. so i tried to play it by dragging it from the my computer bit n dropping it on quicktime player.. butit comes up with buffer overrun deceted. programmes: c\: programme files\quicktime\quicktimeplayer.exe
A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted... and so on. im not very good with computer so i would be really happy if you could help me please!!!thankyou!!!

QT cannot by itself play video on DVDs. Apple sells a mpeg2 component that plays some DVDs but there are significant limitations which you should be aware of before purchase. See this article for those:

  • Installing and Registering QuickTime 7 Pro

    Hi,
I just paid for a download of QuickTime 7 Pro, downloaded and installed (including restarting) it but it doesn't seem to be the Pro version. It seems to be the free version and when I try register it says My registration is invalid.
Information about QT is that is is QT 7.1.3??? No mention of "Pro".
    Any suggestions?
    Adrienne

when I try register it says my registration is invalid. WHY?Did you copy and paste the registration information (to include name with any salutation used to purchase Pro) to the proper entry fields? Both name and number are significant and must be exact.

  • Bought MacBook Pro a year ago and it came with Quicktime Player.  Bought Quicktime Player Pro, how do I download it??

Bought macBook Pro a year ago and it came with Quicktime Player.  Just bought Quicktime Pro and am having trouble downloading it.  Do I need it?  How do I download it?

You don't download QuickTime Pro directly; you download QuickTime 7 and apply the code you bought to it.

  • Quicktime Player Pro won't play any movies?

Ever since I restored my computer about a month ago, my Quicktime Player won't play any video formats correctly. .avi files don't play anymore, and mp4 files only play sound with the screen black. Then when I try to close the application, I get the pinwheel for a long time, thus making me force quit every time. How can I fix this so it can play movies correctly?
(I'd also like to know how to get it to play .mka format movies as well)

    Courtney,
There are a lot of possible CODECS used with .AVI file, not all of which are available for the QuickTime player.
If you just want to play the AVI files use the free VLC media player found at http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

  • NEED HELP registering QuickTime 1 Pro for Windows

Let me start off by saying that I'm a total novice when it comes to computers & my new iPod. I have Windows XP and I believe I've downloaded Quick Time bla bla bla and have already purchased QT7Pro ($32.31). I have received my email confirmation along with my key. On the on-line instructions it says go to start, settings, control panel, quicktime control panel then register your key. When I click on start, there is no option for settings. There is an option for control panel (which has nothing in it remotely related to QuickTime) and there's an icon for QuickTime. When I click on that it just keeps asking me if I want to but QT 7Pro. I just spent $32.31!!!! I already have it.... help please (in layman's terms).

Open any QT document, such as the sample movie that came in the QT folder. The go to the Edit menu and choose Preferences/Registration. Click on Edit Registration and then enter the Name that is in the email from Apple and then the Key in the email. Click on OK and you should now be registered.

  • Can't register quicktime pro

    Hi folks,
I'm been struggling for much too long now to try to resolve my problem, so I've come to the experts (yes...I have surfed and surfed this website and user documentation and more!  I'm hoping the resolution is not too obvious and I'm being dense).
I have an iMac (older than dirt, but still functioning), with Mac OSX v. 10.6.8.
I been using Quicktime Pro successfully for some time and have a key for it. When I was upgraded to QuickTime Player Version 10.0 (131), the ability to use the full version of Quicktime disappeared. (e.g., I have no place to insert my registration code). I've searched everyone (even my system folder) and it's not presenting me with an opportunity to register again.  Most annoying.
What am I missing? Any suggestions?  I've added a screen shot so you can see my dilemma.
Any and all help is very much appreciated.
    ng

There is no need to remove QuickTime X. Snow Leopard and Lion users can have two completely different versions of QuickTime.
If you had QuickTime Player Pro prior to your Snow Leopard install then its only been moved to the Utilities folder.
If you bought it after the Snow Leopard install then you would have to enter the registration info by opening QuickTime Player 7.6.6 and look under the Player menu for "Registration".

  • Quicktime Player Issue (Can't find appropriate forum)

What should I do in order to get sound playing off .avi files? My Quicktime Player (Pro) says I should go download a codec, but it just brings me to the web site and never says which. There doesn't seem to have any codec suitable for the purpose. What should I do?

    I would start with Perian.

  • I am using QuickTime 7 Pro and want to loop my video.  The Loop function is grayed out.  Why?  How can I loop my video?

I am using Quicktime 7 Pro on a Max Mini to play my video on a gallery monitor.  Under View, the Loop option is grayed.  Why?  I need to play the video in a continuous loop all day.  Thank you.

Loop appears to be "broken" in QuickTime Player Pro and 10.7.4.
It's been fixed in 10.8 and also works in QuickTime 10, 10.1 and 10.2.
Use 10.1 on your machine if you need to loop your playback.

  • Converting mov files with Quicktime Player for iDevices

I wasn't sure if should post this under iPad or here or at all as it is about coding, but it is about coding for Apple iDevices that can't display Flash, using Quicktime Player or QT Player 7 Pro:
I'm trying to add the ability for Apple iDevices that can't display tutorials I created in Flash, to see them with H.264. I read that I can simply open the original tutorial that luckily is a .mov file with Quicktime Player 10 in Snow Leopard and File > Save For Web and QT will convert to H.264 and also output several files needed to upload to your server.
But the only options are for iPhone, iPhone (cellular) and Computer. I assume an iPod would use the iPhone file, but iPad didn't exist yet.
I chose iPhone and Computer for my test. I got 2 .m4v files a .jpg, a small .mov and a .html page with the code I needed to copy/paste to my target html page.
Uploaded the files and could see the tutorial movie with my iPad fine. Using FireFox, I saw the beginning of the movie, then got the beachball. After a long wait, I tried a force quit and found that my Mac Pro was crashed too so had to hard shut down. Hate that.
Rebooted the computer. Tried accessing with Safari this time and it worked fine.
I also own Quicktime Player 7 Pro pre Snow Leopard (I'm running Snow Leopard now) and tried the conversion with it and noticed a few more config choices, like for frame rate. But the resulting code was about 29 lines of code with expected parameters versus 2 lines of code in the QT Player code which actually really surprised me. With both apps they have JavaScript references for the head tab to files on Apple's library on their site.
So.. I'm wondering why FF and my computer crash, I did output for computer as well as iPhone. And what to do for FF users and the fact that there's no specific output for iPad, am I OK just using the iPhone output since I can see the file OK on my iPad test.
Last, I've been reading about HTML5 versus Flash, but assume that what both my QT apps are outputting is HTML4. In the QT Player code there isn't even an embed tag, let alone the video tag I've read about, just a href to the exported Saved For Web .mov file, which I assume must point to the .m4v files that QT outputs and puts in the same folder as the other files, but there's no direct reference to them.
Sorry for the length, or if this isn't the place for these questions, but I do want to get this right before I convert about 20 tutorials
I wonder if I should wait until Lion and see if QT is changed to fix the FF crash and adds output for iPad?
One last thing: when you access the converted file with an iPad, first you see a jpg of the first frame with "Click to Play" in the center. When you do, you get the movie with a play triangle which you have to press to actually start the movie. But when you access the same html file with Safari, all you have to do is click the "Click to Play" and the movie starts as expected. Bug?

QuickTime X and QuickTime Player Pro create slightly different html code (but it all works about the same way). The "click to play" image file, a "reference" movie, multiple versions for different devices and the html code to preview the page and use as copy/paste into your Web page.
QuickTime X has fewer options than QuickTime Player Pro. The iPhone preset works just fine on the iPad.
Your Firefox crash may have been just coincidence and I doubt it was caused by the page code.
You may want to wait a while longer for the HTML 5 code because browser support is still in the learning stage and millions of PC users still use out of date browsers.
The reference movie points to the different versions of the file. The code "reads" the device and serves up the correct version for it.
I don't own an iPad but I suspect it works like my iPod Touch. All of my QuickTime files have the play "triangle" so the click to play image style page requires two clicks on it.

  • Muting a a portion of a soundtrack in QuickTime Player 7

    Hello Forum Folks,
I'm compiling a series of clips into one movie for posting on our company's website. I have one small movie with great visual footage but unusable audio.
Can anyone tell me how to mute or drop out the volume from this one section of video? I tried going to the original movie, muting it via the audio settings but when I paste it into the larger file, the sound comes back on.
Thanks in advance for the help.
    JT

Movie Properties window of QuickTime Player Pro.
You'll find all of the "tracks" exposed and you can delete the offending audio track.

  • ProRes 422 in QuickTime Player or FCP 5.1.4

Is there a quicktime component (or something like it) that I can install on my Mac so that I can play ProRes422 codec movies in FCP 5.1.4 and/or QuickTime Player (Pro) 7.2? Where can I download it?
    My system:
    PowerBook G4 17"
    1.33 GHz processor
    2 GB RAM
    Mac OS X 10.4.9
    FCP 5.1.4
    QuickTime Pro 7.2
    massachi

Ken, it means that someone with FCP 6 captured footage as ProRes and the OP is trying to view them...and he only has FCP 5.1.4 installed.
Sorry, to view or work with the ProRes codec, you need FCP 6 installed. The codec is linked to that version of the software. YOu cannot edit that codec with FCP 5.1.4.
