HT3702 Can I stop a purchase after it has happened?

Can I stop a purchase of a in-app application after it has already happened?

really you cant, you can report a problem and send an email to the itunes store when you get your email recept, but they most likely wont refund you if you have bought something on accident.

  • How can one cancel an iTunes purchase after download has started

How can one cancel an iTunes (movie) purchase after download has started but not completed

The reply from cor-el assumes that the question was about an ordinary download, managed by the "Downloads" panel interface. A Firefox update does its downloading (before installation) with a different interface panel. I do not have a screen-capture of the actual panel in that it's appearance happened a few days ago and our final approach was to suspend the automatic download (note that that had been started in error), and then to do all the manual steps we usually would do for a deliberately, manually-started, update. But the "hanging in mid-air" update forced us to do that update in a way and at a time that we ordinarily would not do it.
I still contend that the Firefox update progress panel (whatever it is labelled) does *'''NOT*''' have any obvious cancellation interface, not even the "x" noted above. (... and if it *only* had an "x", in my opinion that would not be a sufficiently obvious interface as compared to having a "Cancel" button.)
I am replying in this thread on behalf of "shepdog" as I am our local desktop support for the particular Macintosh. Please consider this reply as a mark that the reply from cor-el, while it was a correct answer, was not an answer to the particular question that was asked, i.e., "Not Helpful".

  • Every single website, or link within a website page is being added to my location bar/address bar drop down menu. How can I stop this? This just started happening.

Every single website url address, or url address within a website page is being added to my location bar/address bar drop down menu.
I don't want everything added or saved in the location bar. Only urls that I used a lot used to be saved there but now every single url (and url within a url)I visit is being added to it.
How can I stop this? This just started happening.
I'm sure it's a simple browser setting but I've checked and nothing gives an option to control this.
    Firefox 3.0.17
    Windows XP

    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.17) Gecko/2009122116 Firefox/3.0.17

A possibility is to open the links via the right-click context menu or a middle-click in a new tab to make sure that Firefox sees them as regular links.

Bring your phone to Apple for evaluation and replacement.  It's broken.  There's no magic we can provide you.

  • I am going to have to restore my iTunes to a prior date, how can I retrieve apps purchased after the chosen restore date?

I appear to have "lost" many of the songs, and videos, in my iTunes.  The songs/videos show, but  when I attempt to access them, it says it can't find the file and offers to search.  In the search the song/video shows, but is greyed out.  If I restore I tunes to a prior date, how do I retrieve apps that were purchased after the chosen restore date?
    Thanks,
    Dale

Icloud is made up of many services.  you may choose to use or not use any or all of these services.  One of the many services it provides is that it allows you to redownload past purchases.
"I prefer to keep all of my information on my Mac, and a local backup drive."
As you should.  That is why, if you have lost your comtent, you should redownload that lost content from icloud to your computer and back it up, using the directions I provided to you.
"lso, I don't recall setting up a iCloud account. "
Does not matter at all. You do not need an icloud account.  Forget you ever heard the word icloud.  Perhaps if we stop using that word, you will understand.  Itunes now allows you to download your past purchases again - instead of the one download only rule that has existed orior to now.  You can download your purchases to your computer again.
You seem to be getting hung up on the word icloud, so imply forget you heard it.
Follow the direction in the link I provided to download the songs, etc that you have lost.  Once downloaded, they will once again reside on your computer where you can back them up and sync them to device as you always have.
    nothing at all changes.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I stop hidden purchases from telling me about updates?

I've hidden a purchase because it is no good, but its updates keep appearing in my update list. How can I stop this?

That means that you have the app on one of the external drives (maybe the Time Machine drive). Follow these steps:
    1. Open Finder and select "Applications" in the sidebar.
    2. Open Time Machine app and navigate through your backups, until you find the app you have hidden.
    3. Right-click it, and select the option to remove it from all your backups.
If it doesn't work, search in your other external disk and delete the application, if it's here

  • Can you stop an app update that has already started downloading

I started an "update all" when I noticed it was recommended that you not download one of the updates.  How can I stop this update now that it has started downloading (I have paused it)?

I assume the app in question is the Kindle app (or perhaps should be renamed to "just how stupid is Amazon"
No, we should be asking how brilliant Amazon is. Break the app, and convince loyal Amazon Kindle users to switch to their pathetic devices.
I'm actually quite mad about this. I do research, and I have a lot of "academic" science books on my Kindle app. All of my notes are lost (and I thought they were synced to Amazon's cloud).
I don't blame Apple, because the app works like it always did, except removing all of my books. But how stupid are the Amazon iOS programmers to have missed this.

  • I can't access a purchased song; it has an exclamation point next to it...

I can't access one of the four songs I just purchased. It has an exclamation point between the list number and the check mark.
    Help?
    Thanks,
    Beth

The usual reason for missing files is that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes.
When you get things fixed make a backup.

  • My rental stopped mid-movie, help. this has happened multiple times to me before too.

My rental stopped mid-movie, Help. This has happened multiple times to me before too. I demand I get a refund.

    Hey preachit,
It sounds like we are running into issues with the iTunes software connecting to your device. If possible, lets try plugging your iPhone 5 in with a different cable. Also, try plugging it in to a different USB port on your computer:
    iOS: Troubleshooting USB connection
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1286
We may need to isolate the issue down to the iPhone or the current installation of iTunes. If the above steps have not resolved your issue, remove and reinstall iTunes:

  • How can I stop a purchase download so that I do not get charged as I do not want the TV episode after all?

    Mac OS X Lion 10.7.1
    iTunes 10.4.1
I thought I was going to see information about a TV episode. I was wrong. iTunes started downloading it. I have paused it but can not find any way to cancel download so that I will not be charged for it. I never saw any prommpt asking me if I was sure I wanted to purchase it. Solution appreciated.

Stopping the download will not stop the charge.  It was purchased the moment you clicked buy.  You will be charged if you donwload it or not.
Let it download.  You can then delete it if you like.

  • How can you stop a purchase and still download

I Tried to download things and it's telling me to sign in to my Apple ID and put my bank details in again coz a purchase was declined now I can't download anything

    Hey Noodle_lfc,
Thanks for the question. If you have an unpaid balance or purchase, you'll need to take care of the debt before you can purchase again. The following resource outlines how to take care of an unpaid balance:
Why can’t I select None when I edit my payment information?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5366
Using an existing iTunes Store or App Store account
If you have an unpaid balance or payment due, you can't select None as your payment type. To see which order you need to pay for, view your purchase history. When you sign in to the store, you may see a message that there was a billing issue with your last order. Click the Billing Info button to see the order.
After you pay for the order, you can change your payment information to None.
