We are fellow users here on these forums, we won't know why unless you give us some more info e.g. if you are getting an error message then what does the message say, and what sort of card is it, debit or credit ?
If it's a debit card then I don't think that they are still accepted as a valid payment method - they are not listed on this page and there have been a number of posts about them being declined. -
I need help updating my billing information!
For some reason the latest payment for my creative cloud subscription did not come out of my account, I now have a prompt telling me that CC will stop working in 2 days, and that I need to update my billing information. I have done this, however it does not seem to have fixed anything and I still receive the warning message when I open CC. I need to get this fixed as I have projects on the go that can't wait.
Open iTunes on your Mac. Go to Store > View Account from iTunes' menu. Sign in. Change your billing information there.

Whenever I try to enter my credit card information into iTunes via either my mac book or my iphone it says there is an error and says "for assistance, please contact itunes support, etc...". Can anyone help with this?

Open itunes or the app store and navigate to the bottom of the page , there you can find your email adress click on it and choose to view your apple id then enter payment and update your billing info.

If you have a credit card on your account then its details have to complete - and asking for their details is also a way of checking that you have a valid billing address in that country. As long as you are buying content for yourself and not trying to gift content (you can't use your balance for gifting) then the purchase price (plus any applicable taxes) should be deducted from your balance. When I try to update credit card I get a message that says to contact iTunes support. I'm not able to make purchase unless I use a iTunes card. I would like to be able to use my credit card. I read somewhere that it could be that my account is locked.

Sounds like you have a negitive balance from the last pourchase (you owe Apple money). Add a valid payment method to your account.

i solved my own issue. its because im outside of the U.S. right now. I just downloaded a vpn shield app and if i run that i can update and run whatever programs now. including skype netflix pandora .. all the good stuff

I've been trying to update my apps but it keeps asking for my billing info so i retype everything and it keeps saying my security code is invalid when i know its not. It is same card they had on file before and the same security code but now it wont take it and i cant update anything. HELP!
If you're positive the information is correct, ask the issuing bank why the transaction is being rejected.
You're getting this error because the store can not authorize the card with your bank. -

It's a credit card, not a debit card ? As far as I know that message will show if you are trying to use a card that was not issued by a bank in the same country as where your iTunes account is based (and you need to be in that country).
