Pease dont' waste your time with that useless article. Carolyn has been warned many times before to stop posting that and waisting people's time.
This error is a little generic at times and there are a few things that could be happening here. Please put in a ticket here for an advisor to check into details:

If the App Store doesn't recognize your password, you should try to log into iTunes on your PC and make sure your password still works. If it doen't work there you may have been hacked and you will need to get in touch with Apple directly.

I've been trying to update my apps but it keeps asking for my billing info so i retype everything and it keeps saying my security code is invalid when i know its not. It is same card they had on file before and the same security code but now it wont take it and i cant update anything. HELP!
If you're positive the information is correct, ask the issuing bank why the transaction is being rejected.
You're getting this error because the store can not authorize the card with your bank. -

The security code is the 3 or 4 digit code on your card - on most cards it's on the back of the card on the signature strip, but on some cards (e.g. Amex cards) it's on the front.

Sometimes it says security code by it is the ZIP code. Sign into your account in the iTunes app on your computer and verify that all of the information is correct and agree to any new user agreements that may be needed. -

I have tried to buy apps and even download free apps and it keeps popping up with my payment information. It says my security code is invalid which it is not. I've even cleared all my information and entered it all again. This is really frustrating for me and could really use some tips!
Is the address on your iTunes account exactly the same (format and spacing etc) as on your credit card bill : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1646 ? If it is then you could try what it says at the bottom of that page :
If the issue persists, contact your credit card company and verify that they and any company they use to process credit card authorisations have the correct information on file.

Why does it keep saying my security code is invalid, but it clearly is not?
I used a gift card my brother had bought me for christmas and I assumed I could used it because it was american express and it had a card number. So I put that in and it seemed to work fine, but when I tried to switch back from the american express to my visa, it said that my security code was invalid and that my card had been declined(the american express).

The same thing has been happening to me, if you have a PayPal account you can bypass it. And my account is linked to my card anyway so it still comes from the same place
Only fix i can find but its working great for me, i can update download and purchase
The option to change it to PayPalnis only availible on iTunes on the computer under account and billing info
