HT3771 HP 1050 J410 issues

Hi all,
I have the printer listed above and am running an older Laptop Macbook on 10.6.8 - long live Snowy!!!
I am trying to find a driver program which will run the scanner on the printer and print nicely.
I have tried the HP software driver and it is good for scanning a single page then throws the toys out of the pram if you try and scan more than 2. I need to scan about 5 long documents of about 10-12 pages.
I am using the Gutenprint for the printing side, even though the correct software package could not be identified, no listing for the printer I have so chose the closest match (deskjet 400), I would love to know if the scanner/printer gutenprint version is there and I am to blind to see, or how do I scan my documents into PDF format to be emailed.
Please bear in mind I am not the best on computers so need it spelt out clearly and simply in a step by step process - I'm getting old.
My doc would not appear either which makes use a challenge after being used to it, so I have had to bring it up permanently so is now covering tabs, such as "send" when searching for answers - suggestions, it was working then just stopped
Cheers
Andy

Hi andyblistick,
You should have no issue scanning multiple pages with the full feature software and drivers for the HP Deskjet 1050 All-in-One Printer - J410a.
This download includes the HP print driver, HP Printer Utility and HP Scan software.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=al-80796-3 &cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4082&product=4027465&sw_lang=
When you open the HP Scan and scan a page it will prompt you "would you like to scan another item" at this point you would put the next page on the printer and then continue with the onscreen prompt.
If you intend to do a lot of multiple page scanning it might be a good idea to consider getting an officejet with a document feeder (ADF).  An ADF allows multiple pages to be copied or scanned at one time.
Hope this information helps.

i have an HP Deskjet 1050 All in one printer. I have been using it for a couple of years without problems, but since a month it doesn´t scan any more. The error message is `HP deskjet 1050 J410 series cannot be found`. This problem exists when I try to start the link on the desk of the computer as well as when I try to start the scan with the start menu of the computer, which is running on Windows 7. Do you know how to solve this problem?

    Hello missessgrass,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're unable to scan a document and a message appears stating "The Deskjet 1050 J410 cannot be found". I will do my best to assist you! I would recommend following this entire HP document on A 'Connection Error' Message Displays during Scanning.
If this document doesn't resolve your issue, then follow this HP document on Windows: HP Scan Software Does Not Open or Scan on a Printer Using a USB Connection.

I have downloaded the new drivers and I am able to print with my HP deskjet 1050 J410 but I am not able to scan anydocumants. I cannot open the HP printer assistant window. The error reads as follows:
Adobe reader could not open HPSPProgress.hta because it is not a supported file type or the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
I am not sure if this has to do with my default programs or what is going on. I am currently using windows 8 64-bit.

  • Obtaining IP Address of HP Deskjet 1050 J410 series printer

Hello! I recently downloaded a printer plug-in on my Android phone( Sony Xperia Z) and my phone asks me for my printer's IP adress. From where to acquire it? My printer's model is HP Deskjet 1050 J410 series

    Hello @megsborat,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I understand that you would like to learn how to find the IP address for your Deskjet 1050 printer.
The Deskjet 1050 printer only supports a USB cable connection so it will not have an IP address.  I have included the Printer Specifications for the HP Deskjet 1050 for reference.

  • How to print custom invitation size on Deskjet 1050 J410?

I have a HP Deskjet 1050 J410. I am trying to print invitations on 5.5x7.5 cardstock. I went to change the paper size and I don't have that option for my size paper. Is there a way for me to input the size or maybe update my printer?

Please read this post then provide some details.   What operating system? What program are you printing from?
It does not appear that the J410 allows custom paper size, at least in the Windows 7 version, but O**bleep**u hagaki is 7.87" x 5.83" which may be close enough.  I would suggest using plain paper cut to your size for test pieces, fiddle a bit with the right/left and top/bottom margins to get the desired results.  [OK, the naughty word filter does not like the name, but pick the one as shown in the picture below :-)]

  • Reset hp 1050 j410

     Hi
my printer work perfectly from PC but it doesn't work with out PC , I mean when I put some thing like photo to copy it in the printer the paper comes blank .also when I use the scanner it doesn't work too , just only very little color of what I scan. On copying any thing which has been saved in PC it is work perfectly and no problem . please give my  solution to this issue
    thank you

    Hello @alqaissi,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with resolving the scan and copying issue that you're experiencing on your HP Deskjet 1050 All-in-One Printer. I understand that you're getting very little colour on your scan output and blank pages when you copy. Because print quality when printing from your computer is fine, I do believe this is an issue with your copying/scanner assembly. Please follow the steps below to resolve this.
    Step 1: Check Power:
When a product lacks power it can cause the product not to function properly. Therefore, to start I would like you to plug your printer directly into a wall outlet if it isn't already.
    Step 2: Power Reset:
Once the product is plugged into a wall outlet, turn the printer ON
With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cable.
Leave the power cable disconnected for 30 seconds.
Plug the power cable back in.
The printer should turn back on on its own.
Once the printer returns to the normal ready state perform a test black copy. Next, perform a text colour copy. Do both come out blank?
If you are able to copy now, but the quality is not good (vertical lines, faded print, etc . . .) then please run a clean of the scanner assembly.
    Step 3: Clean the Scanner:
Before you begin, gather the following materials:
    Several clean, soft, lint-free cloths
    Mild glass cleaner
Note: Do not use cleaners that contain abrasives, acetone, benzene, or carbon tetrachloride. These substances can damage the product. Avoid isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) because it can leave streaks on the glass.
Press the Power button () to turn off the product.
Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product.
    Open the scanner lid.
Spray a clean, soft, lint-free cloth with mild glass cleaner.
CAUTION: Do not spray the glass cleaner directly on the glass to avoid damaging the scanner.
Wipe the scanner glass and the white underside of the scanner lid with the dampened cloth.
    Scanner glass
     Scanner lid
Dry the scanner glass thoroughly with a clean, dry cloth, or chamois to prevent spotting, and then dry the white underside of the scanner lid.
NOTE: Do not use paper-based wipes or tissues that can leave fiber residue.
    Close the scanner lid.
Reconnect the power cord to the product, and press the Power button () to turn on the product.
Next, try to make another black copy and another colour copy. Once the copying feature is working properly, the scanner should work properly.
Please let me know if the steps I've provided resolve your issue. Good luck!

  • HP Deskjet 1050 J410 scanning via router not working

    Hi all,
I have my printer connected to an Apple Airport Express via USB. Printing via wifi with my laptop works just fine but scanning doesn't work. When I try to scan via my laptop, I get a message that connection to the scanner is not possible. I've looked up port forwarding but don't think that could be the issue, since printing is working fine. Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Thomas

Connecting the printer to the router by USB is not a supported configuration.  The problem is, in order to scan, you need the software, and there is no way to install the software on the router and so you cannnot scan.  You might be able to scan to an SD card as a work around but I doubt you are going to find a solution to this problem.  I hope that helps.

  • 1050 j410 Copy software is not found

I started to make some copies of some legal documents today, the first time I've used the copy feature in over a year, maybe two.  But, when I opened the 'start menu', and opened the HP folder, the copy feature was not there, neither was the "control panel" "console" type thing, I don't remember what it was called. But, at one time, I could click on the control panel, and it would open up to a screen  where I could choose from: copy, scan, photo, print, and some other stuff.
So I go to the HP download site, and can't find where to download the copy feature, or the control panel feature. It's not on my disk that came with the printer, it was an update or something after I got the printer 4 years ago. Now I'm setting here, needing to make 10 copies of the document, so I can give to the people that need one, and all I can do is click the copy button, let it print, which takes almost 2 minutes per page, then click copy again, 10 times, on 8 pages.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about, or was I dreaming? I guess that could have been on my last printer, this is a personal home printer, it doesn't get used much, so I could be confusing the two.

    Hi,
Copying can only be done from the printer front panel, not from the HP Software.
You may Increase the number of copies by pressing the Start Copy Black or Start Copy Color button multiple times.

  • HP DeskJet 1050 ALL-IN-ONE J410 series Printer Scanner stopped working suddenly

About a month back Scanner in my printer-scanner (DeskJet 1050 All-In-One J410 series) stopped working with a message on screen " HP Deskjet 1050 J410 series was not found". But the Printer was working fine. I have so far taken following steps with results against each -
    a) HP Print & Scan doctor (HPPSdr.exe) showed HP Twain Scan faulty.
    b) On advice from HP helpline, tried HP Deskjet Full Feature Software & Drivers (DJ1050_J410_1313.exe). It required uninstalling before installing. But uninstalling failed to happen.
    c) Finally, with HP Printer Install Wizard (hppiw.exe) help it showed that Full Feature HP Software & Drivers is now installed. For its functionality, it called for its testing on 'print test page' and 'test scan'. After this, printer shows printing jobs in queue but will not print. At present it is limited to photocopying only without printing & scanning.
    d) I am caught in a loop, because at the end of hppiw.exe message is '...if tests are not successful, HP recommends using HPPSdr.exe to diagnose and fix any problem' i.e. back to point (a) above.
Any solution to the above problem?

  • Hp 61 cartridge (refill?)/hp deskjet 1050, series J410, landfill printer/scanner

I bought an hp deskjet 1050 (J410 series) printer/scanner, about 3-4 weeks ago, at Future Shop, for $29.99. I used all the ink in the hp 61 black ink cartridge, called a local outlet for a large cartridge refilling business & was told they could refill it. They did.
Now, the printer/scanner is displaying the attached message & refusing to print.
What is the opposite of "green"? Has hp not heard the terms "reduce, reuse and recycle"?
Is hp really so short-sighted that they hired engineers to design printers and cartridges so that the printer won't work after the ink in a cartridge is used?
A new hp deskjet 1050 printer/scanner costs $29.99 at Future Shop. An hp 61 black inkjet cartridge costs $19.99. Do they really intend for the printer to go in a landfill after the ink is used? I used to think hp produced quality products - since I bought my first hp 21 calculator over 35 years ago.
I tried getting rid of the warning message (with the "close" button disabled) by starting Task Manager and ending the task; but the printer still won't print. Do you know of another workaround?
At this point, I'm thinking of returning the printer & shopping for a better alternative.
    Thanks.
    This question was solved.

I would suggest if the message comes up again just say "no".   While HP does not prohibit refilling they are trying to crack down on counterfeiting, where refilled/reman cartridges are sold as genuine HP.
BTW, the refill place likely took your used-once cartridge and gave you a different replacement.  If you had gotten your cartridge back the printer would have recognized it and not shown this message.  I would suggest you contact the refiller for a replacement if cleaning the cartridge contacts as shown here (for a different series, but same principle) does not resolve the issue.
On a related note, I once donated a printer to the local high school.  Some time later I got a call from the teacher that it was not working properly.  They had replaced the #57 cartridge with a refilled one that had bad color in yellow (now green).  We got a replacement and had one of the colors missing.  Finally the third replacement worked.  I asked why they bought refills and the teacher said they were cheaper.  I asked if they were 1/3 the price....  You do get what you pay for.
BTW, I do not work for HP or represent them, I am just a volunteer on this board.
