HT3775 How to burn cd's on IMac

I burn DVD's using disk utility on my imac but cannot burn Cd's how can I burn Cd's?

Are you talking about music CDs? You can use iTunes - you do need to create a playlist; once you've added enough songs to it, you can hit the the Action menu (gear) at the bottom of the side panel:

    Greetings,
If I had any Real Audio files I could tell you.
    Try a few different players:
VLC says they have "partial" support: http://www.videolan.org/
    MPlayer: http://mplayerosx.sourceforge.net/
    Perian: http://perian.en.softonic.com/mac
Hope one of those work for you.

How to burn an iMovie to DVD without losing quality?  I have iMovie 10.0.5 and iMac 10.9.4 mountain lion. I do not have iDVD. After iMovie goes through the encoding process, quality is horrible. How can I fix this problem? I have tried the apps BURN and DVD Creator for MAC. I need to finish this DVD asap and becoming more and more frustrated. Why would Apple give us iMovie and not provide us an app to burn it to a DVD and / or take away the iDVD?

Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac? How do I get it and how do I install it?

To burn a DVD with iDVD from the latest version of iMovie, you have to export the movie using the Export button and select 480p as the size. Open iDVD and start a new project, then drag that exported movie file into the iDVD menu window, avoiding any drop zones you see.

  • G3 iMac 333Mhz not reading CD's burned on my G5 iMac!

I'm trying to refurbish my older G3 iMac & install Panther, for a friend of mine who can't afford a computer. I've suddenly noticed that CD's I've burned on my G5 iMac are unreadable to the older iMac, giving a message that the disc is unrecognizable, and do I want to erase it. It reads many other CD's just fine, original application CD's, the Panther install CD's, including some I burned on a previous eMac I had. I called Apple about this in a panic, and they couldn't imagine what could be wrong, they had never heard of such a thing. All they could say was that the drive must be going bad. But it reads all other CD's just fine--just not the ones I've recently burned on my new G5 iMac. Then they said that maybe there is something wrong with the CD's I'm using, but they can be read just fine by my new iMac and many other computers, including the old eMac that my daughter now has. I even take files to CopyMax for printing on those same CD's and the PC's read them just fine.
Apple suggested that I try purchasing other CD's and try out different brands. Meanwhile, the stack of 50 that I just purchased, I won't be able to use with this old iMac. They are Maxell's by the way, and the label says CD-R. Does anybody out there with a similar 333Mhz G3 iMac with a tray loading drive, have problems reading certain brand burned CD's from another computer? Or have you heard of such a thing? I hate to keep buying different brands to see which ones will be readable by the old iMac. Any advice you have would be appreciated. Thanks!
    Kristy

Thank you both, dreed and Ron, for your advice and comments. It's good to know I'm not the only one with this problem. And since I am just getting this iMac 333 ready for my friend to use, I don't have the money to replace the optical drive for her. I will try Charismac Discribe. Is it a shareware program? And is it very expensive? I still have some CD's I've burned on my eMac, that can be read by the iMac 333 just fine--for me it just seems to be CD's burned on my new G5 iMac that won't work--or Maxell's, because this is the first time I've used that brand. I usually buy Memorex.
Ron, it looks like we took the same computing path. The description of your two machines match exactly the configuration of my last two Macs, right down to the amount of memory in each of them & everything. Maybe a G5 iMac is in your future! These second generation ones are really wonderful! I know how you feel about the slot loading iMac, though. This is the first time I've had a slot loader. I have found that I can put my thumb in the center hole, and rest my pointer finger gently on the outside edge, without touching any of the surface, and slip it right into the slot pretty easily, then removing my thumb as the drive pulls it into the slot. It took me a while to figure that out. It helps that the slot is vertical instead of horizontal, although it might work with a horizontal slot, if you put your pointer finger in the hole and rest your thumb on the outside edge. Think about it. So tell me where to find Charismac Discribe. Oh, I can probably just google it. Thanks for the tip!

  • How do you know the best iMac display size

how do you know the best iMac display size
Only on them fits in the screen window and that makes the font so tiny.  The others are too wide or too tall.  I usually view at 150 - 200% for vision issues.

You say it's better to do the Media Browser?  I'm fairly new to movie, dvd and garage band.  How would I go about using the Media Browser instead of straight to iDVD?
Select Your project - go up to Share - Share to Media Browser and as Large (Not HD)
In iDVD select a nice theme - click on Media button - click on Movie - Select Your movie.
NOW - Save as a DiskImage - and test this before burning DVDs - if this Plays OK then either burn the Image by using Disk Util tool (and set down burn-speed to x4) - or burn via iDVD (will take more time)
I want to keep as much quality as I can.
Then don't use iMovie'08 or 09 or 11 - as they all discard every second line resulting in less quality on the DVD. I use iMovie HD6 or FinalCut any version.
Also...I tried to split my project in iMovie...but couldn't find a way.  I wound up just making a copy and then deleting out a handful of scenes from the copy...I still have the original at 4:12hrs.  Is there a way in iMovie to split a project?
I would make a copy and cut away a bit from the end - calling this Part 1 and from start of the other copy Part 2.
OR - there are other programs that can squees in more to a DVD e.g. Roxio Toast™ - BUT this has two cons.
    • It costs - to me it was well spent mony as it can so much more e.g. back engineer a DVD to an editable form
    • Squeesing in more on a DVD - costs in QUALITY - and as You want as much as it can be - then 90 minuts portions encoded with Pro-Quality encoding and full quality interlasced material from a video-editor that delivers this is the way to get 100% of what DVDs can do.
DVD is as standard only SD-Video - HD not possibly. Then You need Blu-Ray. (also Roxio Toast™)

If you want an online backup - useful if the house burns down - you will need a third-party service. This page examines some options:
    http://rfwilmut.net/missing3
However you should not rely only on an online service - Pvonk's suggestion is well worth following up - hard disks aren't all that expensive these days and once set up Time Machine backs up quietly in the background, including keeping older versions of items you have updated.

  • How to Burning TV Shows to DVD?

Is it possible to burn TV shows you bought at the ITune Store onto a DVD?

To make a backup on Data CD/DVD: yes
To play them on a DVD-player: no
From the Music Store Terms of Service, chapter 9b:
You shall be entitled to export, burn (if applicable) or copy Products solely for personal, noncommercial use. You shall not be entitled to burn Video Products.
    Sorry, that's how it is.

  • How To Burn At 1X Speed

Burning at the slowest speeds possible has always been my goal - I simply get better compatibility when it comes to audio CDs. However, I do not know how to slow down the burn speed on my iMac. I am using Toast 10, and I can select 1x speed, but the CDs still burn at 8x. How can I change this?

Here is a link to the models available from LaCie (I have a previous version):
    http://www.lacie.com/us/products/range.htm?id=10014
At this time, there is no Blu-Ray listed.
I've checked your link and can't find any mention of Mac compatibility on the model BE08; however, I did find another model that specifically mentions Mac:
    http://www.lge.com/products/model/detail/ge20.jhtml
I have no experience with LGE or blu-ray drives.
As for replacing the internal - if you are under warranty, you'll need to have it done at an authorized service provider (I have no idea as to the cost, but I'd guess $$$); if you purchase an external, you can use it with other computers and it should outlast your current Mac (mine has served me well with 3 iMacs, a Mini, and currently the iMac and MBP).

  • How to burn?

i got my imac g5. im still a new mac user. anyone teach me how to burn a dvd? i got the dvd, but i want copy the original dvd to another copy. anyone know how to to do? thanks

There are a couple of things you need to understand.
You need to familiarize your self with the burner you have in your machine.
Not all burners are the same and are not capable of burning all the different media's on the market. DVD-R is the most widely recognized and used.
DVD+R and all the RW are not as recognizable to all Players and Computers.
There are several different ways to burn from your MAC.
    iTunes.
    iDVD.
    Disk Utility.
are but 3 that your Mac can use without any other Software.
You have the option of burning
    Audio.
    Video.
    Data.
If you are wanting to burn Commercial DVD Movies you will need 2 pieces of Software. Mactheripper, for the encryption and security on the commercial Media, and either Popcorn or Toast 7 that will burn and compress the larger commercial DVD's to fit on a Standard 4.7 gb disc.
    http://www.roxio.com/en/products/popcorn/index.jhtml?ccid=google&o_e25=Paid%20Se arch&gclid=CNTG2ZaXpYMCFTaWJAodwEoCNw
Here is the Software for copying.
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/22715
I suggest you do a google search on the subject.
There are several people that do not and will not discuss this.
I have given you the basic information you need.
    Cheers Don

  • How do I connect my 27" iMac to the HDMI port of my LCD TV ?

How do I connect my 27"iMac to the HDMI Port of my LCD TV ?

    I have the 22" imac
beside it I have an 24" dell monitor
I used a miniDisplayport->DVi converter in the TB port of the imac
thats the best performance because DVI like Displayport are both digital interfaces
    same deal with hdmi really
so you need a miniDisplayport to dvi or hdmi depending on the inputs on your tv

  • How do I set up my Imac after adding a SSD along with my existing HD

How do I set up my Imac after adding a SSD so that my system and apps are on the SSD and everything else is on the HD?  I am using mountain Lion.  I want to make sure I can still do Time Machine backups.
I was planning on first formatting the SSD and then using Migration Assistant to copy the System and the Library and the Apps over.  Where it gets confusing is the User account where some of the items will be on the SSD but I want all my folders to be on the HD.  Do I just not copy over that other stuff and once I restart from the SSD it will know where all the folders are?  Is there anything I need to know about setting up a time machine backup after that?  Will the backup I had from the one drive have to be erased and start a whole new backup?
I just want to do this right so I don't have some major problems.
    Thanks for any help.
    Michael

time machine backed up your whole system data/everything in time machine hdd.
you want to use ssd over hdd so you need to put new mac os x in ssd.
then copy all the stuff that you want to put in ssd.
from my point of view put the mac os x and other application in ssd and leave other data in hdd.(music,movies,etc....)

I'd like to know how can i connect my old iMac tiger with new one iMac lion. I wanna use the old one for external disk to collect files from there to new one.

    Hi mshields1162,
Great question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
First, you may want to choose to have the sidebar displayed for familiarity:
    iTunes 11: Frequently used features
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5649
Afterwards, your device should be displayed if connected:
We'll want to click on it, and choose the Music tab at the top. Let's make sure "Sync Music" is checked:
Afterwards, you'll have the option to sync either the entire music library (for your first iPod), or "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres" (for the secondary device). Upon selecting this option, four larger option boxes will appear allowing you to pick and choose what content will be synced. For audiobooks, you may need to do the above in the "Books" section. For a visual instruction on how to do this, see the following:
iTunes 10: Sync to your iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/VI72
    Thanks,
    Matt M.
