HT3775 I am trying to play an MP4 video, it says "You may need to install an additional software to play this movie" .... What is it?
Any help?!
I would recommend using VLC player for random mp4 movie files.
If it is an MP4 from a known device like ipad or iphone perhaps ensuring itunes and OSX is totally up to date

I believe there is a technique which uses some similar suggestion to unwittingly tempt the user into installing malware, in order to be able to watch some (usually sexually explicit) video, so be aware of this ruse.
The only things I would download would be Perian that extends Quicktime, available here,

and if that did not do it, then try VLC to use instead of Quicktime. -
Hi guys, hope u can help me, i bought a movie from itunes a few months ago, and i´ve played it before in my laptop (Toshiba Satellite L755D) with windows 7 home premium, i have my Bill in my e-mail, but when i try to play it now, it won´t! a message comes back with a legend saying something like this: "To play avengers hd you must have an integrated screen that allows hdcp" but i´ve played it before tons of times!!! whats wrong..? and when i go to the store and point an error on the selected item (avengers hd) it says that my search has no results!!! please help me :-( is not fair that i spend almost 20$ for something that it´s just not working anymore!!!
Movies are not always available for redownload. Is there a reason why you deleted it instead of simply transferring the purchase to the computer and then removing it from the iDevice?

HELP! I have a MacBook Pro purchased 12/10. My website has two quicktime movies embedded. After 10.6.8. these website movies will not play on my computer.
NO ONE Else has the problem. I can play the movies from a file on my MacBook Pro purchased 12/10. Movie works on my ipad and iphone. Friends with iMac, PC etc. have no problem. ANy ideas? Nothing opens when that URL is opened in QuickTime Player.
True "Streaming" files require hint tracks be included in the file. -
My computer would not let me update my version of itunes so I was advised to uninstall and start fresh. I still get the same error..."a program needed to complete the installation cannot run". Can any one tell me what program they are referring to or if anyone has a fix for this?

how do you switch to canadian store?
Open iTunes Store. Locate your logged in email address, click on the Log Out link. Log in using your Apple ID for the Canadian Store.
Since you apparently purchased apps while logged into the Canadian store you must log into that store in order to update them. -
Gstreamer fails to play *some* .mp4 videos
Gstreamer is no longer able to play *some* .mp4 videos. Just until recently
(possibly update) that worked fine for me. I will appretiate any help with resolving this problem.
Videos concerning were downloaded from Youtube via the Firefox DownloadHelper,
so I suspect some of them to use some non-standard format feature. Also
ffmpeg-ing videos to other or same format works and converted videos can be
played by Gstreamer without problems.
This is the only download video I was able to confirm Gstreamer can still play:

According to the Multimedia section at http://www.developer.nokia.com/Devices/Device_specifications/E71/ , your phone should support some mp4's. But the solution is to get a better video player. There is always Coreplayer, which is supposed to be very good, but which I have never used, and is not free. A poster here /t5/Eseries-and-Communicators/Nokia-E5-viewing-videos/td-p/1160745 recently recommended the free Divx player. Worth a try.

Safari 8 does not properly load and play any mp4 video
My Safari 8.0.3 on my OS X 10.10.2 does not actually load and play any MP4 video in-browser. All I see is the black loading bar.
I have not installed any video codecs on my OS X, nor have I tinkered with any QuickTime settings.Perhaps a third parrty Safari add on that was compatible with the prior version of Safari but not 5.1 that's preventing pages to render as they should.

When trying to open Pages 4.0.1 I get a message stating "Pages cannot be opened because of a problem, check with the developer to make sure Pages works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X."
I've run the software update several times. Pages is located in my iWork '09 folder in Applications. Using OS X 10.6.8Delete and reinstall it.
