I have some videos from youtube to be used in the classroom. I downloaded them from my pc but I cannot see them in the mac because I get messages saying that I need some quicktime components. Is there any way of seiing AVI files? Or do you know the components I need?

I don't seem to have that problem. Make sure iBooks is up to date. If it is, then try force closing the app and restarting it by double taping the home button, holding the iBooks apps until the red "-" appears. hit the "-", then close multitasking by hitting the home button or touching anyplace on the screen about the multitasking bar. If that doesn't resolve the problem, try delete and reinstall iBooks. If that fails, try hard resetting your iPad by holding down both the home and power buttons until it restarts.

Do you possibly mean the contacts have been merged?
If so, where are each of you syncing contacts? A supported application on the computer? iCloud or another cloud service? An Exchange server?

Backup and restore your software via iTunes. If the problem continues, restore as a NEW device. If this solves it, that means there is some corruption in your backup file. If the problem is still there, you should take it to the Genius Bar at an Apple Store for evaluation.

Download the iBooks app and go to the Store after lauching that. Come back and ask again if you are having problems.
You can worry about Kobo at some later point, it has nothing to do with Apple and you should seek help at the site of the people who make it.

I have multiple iPhoto libraries w/ duplicates in several. How can I consolidate and find the dupes? Some photos are versions of the original. On my iMac, I also have many folders containing some of the same photos. My computer is used for both personal and business purposes. My libraries should be separated, one for each.

To merge libraries use iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - or Aperature
To find duplicates within an iPhoto library use iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -
Photos that are not in an iPhoto library can be imported telling iPhoto not to import duplicates (an imperfect procews) and then IPLM can find the duplicates
As to keeping seperate libraries - only you can do that - IPLM can move photos between libraries for you but only you can know which photos should be in which library

Yeah got onto that but it won't load up anything readable. It just produces a little annimation of 35mm film strip and when you click on it - nothing. All you end up doing is clicking on the X in the top right hand corner of the annimation and deleting it. Really frustrating because uploading from the iPhone is simple, but I've deleted it off that and can't get it back from the Mac to the iPone either. Seem to be trapped no matter what i do.
