HT3775 I used to be able to play Flash Movies, when I updated my Flash everything went south

INSTALLED now several times.
I usd to be able to view movies on FB or on my computer
FLASH Mob. MVP's outputs from Microsoft saved for web.
NOW everytime it tells me I must install th latest version of Flash, however the installation claims it is sucessfull. I A BEYOND frustrated..What do I need to do?

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 4.
1. If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then from the menu bar select
 ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.
2. Triple-click the line below to select it:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu. A folder should open. Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
3. Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from this page:
Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player
Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
4. If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked Enable plug-ins.
5. Select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
6. In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
Close the window. Then select
 ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

It's a Finder feature, related to Quick Look. You can hit the space bar in the file list to get a preview.
If that doesn't work, you may have an issue witha preference file or similar. I find rebuilding the launch databse works quite well resilving tis kind of thing, as does trashing Finder preferences

Pat, I've been experiencing this issue intermittently for weeks. It seems to occur with HD content --including HD trailers --exclusively. Tonight has been no exception.
I have done considerable troubleshooting to try and isolate the cause. My results suggest that Apple's servers are to blame but I've not seen many others reporting this issue in these forums lately.
I live only 170 miles from Apple's North Carolina server farm. I assume my iTunes rentals are being fed from there. My broadband connection is a fast one (30Mb down) and consistently tests near that speed when this issue occurs.
I have both a first and second generation AppleTV. When this issue occurs, I will change devices and rent the same movie to see if th device itself is to blame. The issue affects both. I have tried using an ethernet connection instead of my Airport Extreme's 5Ghz wireless connection but that does not remedy the issue.
So... my broadband connection is more than capable, my router is performing optimally (I recently had my local Apple Store test it as well), and neither of my AppleTV's is immune to the issue, so... it must be on the delivery end.
Unfortunately, Apple does not post the status of their iTunes Store's servers like they did with their MobileMe servers. They should. In fact, the AppleTV should display a status message when Apple's iTunes servers are experiencing technical difficulties or heavy network traffic.
I was an early adopter of AppleTV. It has not been problematic until now. This is trying my patience. My advice is that you request a refund everytime this happens. I do.
I am taking this matter to the VP of iTunes services. If Apple's servers are choking, or if their streams are being throttled by ISP's, or internet TV is too ambitious for this country's internet infrastructure, I deserve to know.

You need to do the basic troubleshooting steps described in the User Guide, Appendix B.
Restart phone
Reset phone
Restore in iTunes using a backup
Restore in iTunes as new, without using a backup
If restoring as new doesn't help, there is a hardware failure in the phone that needs evaluation by Apple.

I own a Toshiba Satellite A505-6965. When I first got the laptop I had all these toshiba items on there. Recently I had to reinstall and reformat my laptop losing all toshiba items. I used to have winDVD and now I don't have it nor can I find it.I was also able to play blu-ray, but everytime I try to install winDVD BD for toshiba it tells me I have to have a previous version of WinDVD first. Where is winDVD?

It looks like you posted this over a month ago, so I don't know if you got your issue resolved, but I was just having the same exact issue. My hard drive was corrupted and I had to have it replaced, but when I got my computer back no WinDVD, even though it originally came pre-installed with the computer. I eventually found this in the forums...

The one thing I found was that the update still didn't work. However, I have Toshiba Alerts set up, so when I restarted my computer, an alert popped up that an update was available. Actually the update was more recent (by a couple days only) than the one posted online. That update worked fine and I know can play blu-rays again on my computer.

you are probably seeing the extended display.. to see ur main display go to pefrences then display steeings and turn mirroring on.

try restoring your phone as a new phone your music and apps will load back on this might help other than that log a case with apple 1-800-my-apple. also try uninstalling itunes then reinstall itunes good luck.

QT not able to play .avi movies

I bought quicktime pro about a week ago and I can't figure out how to play avi movies. A pop up shows up and says I need a third party component but non of those seem to work for me. Can someone give me a link to the third party component that is needed for playing avi movies on quicktime pro. Becuase of this, I can't convert any of my movies into mpeg-4 to put on my iPod.

Open the non working file using QuickTime Pro.
Open the Movie Info window and note what codecs are used in the .avi file.
Search (I use Google) for Windows compatible video codecs and follow the instructions for how to install them on your PC.
Note all .avi files can be opened or viewed in QT Pro. Some codecs do not export properly.
You should test with a one minute "cut" of your .avi to make sure it can be used on your iPod.
Better to learn from a one minute failure that to waste hours converting a file that will not work on your iPod.

How Can I Get The iPad To Auto-Play My Movie When Selected?

When selecting a movie from the shared tab on my iPad it shows my the splash screen with the cover art on the right and on the left I have a movie summary along with cast. The top of the left pane it has the chapters or the play button. When I select the play button I would like it to start playing the movie. What it does is the screen goes black and thats it.
If I tap the black screen I get the video controller pop up and then I have to select the play button again to get the movie to play.
I was pretty sure that before the movie would play after selecting play from the initial movie splash screen.

I'm trying to figure out how to get QuickTime movies (taken with a video camera) off my pc and onto my iPad2. I can watch the movies on my pc using QT. I bought QT Pro and installed on my PC to convert the files to a format that iPad supports (like mpeg4). I converting the files to mpeg4 but they didnt play on iPad. Do I need a different video player on iPad than the default video player? Do I need to do something else on the iTunes side?

My only guess at the error message is the very odd 13 frames per second recording. I don't know what to suggest.
